গণতন্ত্রের মূল সংজ্ঞা হচ্ছে গণতন্ত্র কখন বাধাগ্রস্থ হয় জনগণ কখন ক্ষতিগ্রস্থ হয়। যখন রাজার অত্যাচার এবং বিচারকের অবিচার কোন সমাজে প্রকট আকার ধারন করে তখন মানুষের যাওয়ার কোন পথ থাকে না। নির্বাচনের আগে আওয়ামী লীগ চিৎকার করে বলেছে আমরা তত্ত্বাবধায়ক সরকার মানিনা কোন প্রকার আলোচনায় বসব না। আর আলোচনায় আসতে হলে অবশ্যই বিএনপিকে জামায়াতের সঙ্গ ত্যাগ করতে হবে। অথচ এখন এই জামায়াতকে ভাই বলে বুকে টেনে নিচ্ছে ফুল দিয়ে গ্রহণ করছে। বর্তমান রাজনীতিতে আমাদের নৈতিক অবস্থা হল 'যখন আমার সঙ্গে থাকে সঙ্গি বিরুদ্ধে গেলে জঙ্গি, যখন আমার বিরুদ্ধে থাকলে কষাই, আমার পক্ষে থাকলে হয় বিয়াই' বলে মন্তব্য করে বলেন বাংলাদেশ সুপ্রিম কোর্টের আইনজীবী ড· তুহিন মালিক। তিনি সোমবার চ্যানেল আইয়ের তৃতীয় মাত্রা অনুষ্ঠানে এসে এসব কথা বলেন।
তিনি বলেন· বর্তমান রাজনীতিতে নিজের জন্য আল-ফায়দা আর অন্যের জন্য আল-কায়েদা। প্রধানমন্ত্রী নিজেই কয়েকবার বলেছে দেশ চলছে মদিনা সনদে। এদিকে আবার বলছেন দেশ চলছে মদিনা সনদে চলছে কিন্তু মা দূর্গা গর্জে চলে এসে ঘরে ঘরে ফসল দিচ্ছে।
নারায়নগঞ্জের হত্যা প্রসঙ্গে তিনি আরও বলেন, নারায়নগঞ্জের শীতলক্ষা নদীতে নিজের দলের লোক ভেসেছে বলে এত বড় বড় কথা বলছেন কিন্তু মার্চ মাসে মেঘনা নদীতে ১৯ লাশ ভেসেছে হাত-পা বাঁধা অবস্থায় এবং লাশগুলো প্রত্যেকটা ছিল বিরোধী দলের । অত্যাচারের ভয়ে মানুষের পীঠ যখন দেওয়ালে ঠেকে যায় তখন মানুষ পরকাল নির্ভরশীল হয়ে যায়। মানুষ তখনও চিন্তা করছে যে ইহকাল আর পরকালের মধ্যে প্রধান পার্থকই হচ্ছে পরকালে কোন আওয়ামী লীগের অত্যাচার নাই।
