[chottala.com] Case Study: Genocide in Bangladesh, 1971

Summary

The mass killings in Bangladesh (then East Pakistan) in 1971 vie with
the annihilation of the Soviet POWs, the holocaust against the Jews,
and the genocide in Rwanda as the most concentrated act of genocide
in the twentieth century. In an attempt to crush forces seeking
independence for East Pakistan, the West Pakistani military regime
unleashed a systematic campaign of mass murder which aimed at killing
millions of Bengalis, and likely succeeded in doing so.

The background

East and West Pakistan were forged in the cauldron of independence
for the Indian sub-continent, ruled for two hundred years by the
British. Despite the attempts of Mahatma Gandhi and others to prevent
division along religious and ethnic lines, the departing British and
various Indian politicians pressed for the creation of two states,
one Hindu-dominated (India), the other Muslim-dominated (Pakistan).
The partition of India in 1947 was one of the great tragedies of the
century. Hundreds of thousands of people were killed in sectarian
violence and military clashes, as Hindus fled to India and Muslims to
Pakistan -- though large minorities remained in each country.

[chottala.com] Govt scholarship holders who did not return should be caught by the care taker govt.

Dear All
Yes, all war criminals should be punished. We should also punish those who: has come abroad with government scholarships and did not return to Bangladesh
Think, they also deserve punishment.Given the signature in bond that on completion of studies will come back to Bangladesh, but did not. From where this money comes, it is the poor people's money. They should  also be with the political leaders in the prisons of Bangladesh.Bangladesh government should find out those criminals as well. This is the high time for Ministry of Education to find out the files and move diplomatically to bring back those culprits to Bangladesh.Honesty is relative. It is more disheartening and beneath dignity when the educated people take the chance over the innocent poor.Should they have trust on them who have  deprived them like the govt scholarship holders who suppose to serve them(the poor) instead of serving themselves? So why do we blame only the political leaders? I know this message will be an uncomfortable one  for many. But nothing doing. It is trhe fact and immediate action is needed as well.
Thanks. to all.
Shamim
