[chottala.com] Oli demands arrest of Bhuiyan

BREAKING NEWS
Oli demands arrest of Bhuiyan

Sat, Oct 13th, 2007 5:26 pm BdST

Dhaka, Oct 13 (bdnews24.com) – Liberal Democratic Party president Oli Ahmed Saturday demanded arrest of BNP's expelled secretary general Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan.

Oli also slammed Bikalpadhara Bangladesh chief AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury for his concept of 'consensus government', saying it was unconstitutional.

Speaking to reporters at his DOHS home in Mohakhali, the former BNP leader said: "The government should have arrested him at the very beginning of its anticorruption crackdown.

"Mannan Bhuiyan betrayed Khaleda Zia and the country. Nobody should believe or rely on him anymore.

"He did not say a word about reform and corruption when he was in power. But he took advantage of the post he held.

"Mannan Bhuiyan had controlled the Prime Minister's Office, Hawa Bhaban and the BNP main office with his own people."

"He (Bhuiyan) had a greater duty to lead the party by freeing the party of corruption. He had instead ignored his job and pushed the party toward a disaster.

"The democracy was hindered because of him. [Khaleda] and her sons ended up in jail also because of him."

On the unity government idea floated by Badruddoza, Oli said: "It won't be possible to form a political party with families and relatives in future.

"Many political parties including Bikalpadhara will not exist once the Election Commission's registration system is introduced.

"There will be five to six political parties in the country," said the LDP leader.

"The elected representatives of the next elections will set the form and type of the government for the country."

Asked whether he would rejoin BNP, the former member of the BNP standing committee said: "I am now president of LDP. My duty is to organise the party.

"If I get an offer, I will decide in consultation with the executive president and secretary general and other leaders and activists of the party.

"There is no chance to take decisions individually in LDP."

Praising the government's anticorruption move Oli said: "Some fortune-seekers and corrupt people under the name of reformists are still lurking."

He demanded the government arrest them immediately. "If the corrupt people are arrested, no political leader will engage in corruption in future."

On the government's proposed Truth Commission, Oli said: "Truth Commissions were formed for the trial of war criminals in different countries. It is not clear to me why such a commission is going to be formed in our country.

"Those who are involved in corruption and looting in the name of politics should be punished. The government has to find out the middlemen between politicians and businessmen and throw them into 'crossfire'.

"They are the main enemies of the country. They are the ones grabbing opportunities."

But he praised the government for its "commendable attitude" towards the businessmen.

Oli also advised the government to deepen the relationship with the business community.

[chottala.com] Iraq is a "nightmare with no end in sight" - Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez

Ex-general: 'No end in sight' in Iraq

By STEVEN KOMAROW, Associated Press Writer 42 minutes ago

ARLINGTON, Va. - The U.S. mission in Iraq is a "nightmare with no end in sight" because of political misjudgments after the fall of Saddam Hussein that continue today, a former chief of U.S.-led forces said Friday.

Retired Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, who commanded coalition troops for a year beginning June 2003, cast a wide net of blame for both political and military shortcomings in Iraq that helped open the way for the insurgency — such as disbanding the Saddam-era military and failing to cement ties with tribal leaders and quickly establish civilian government after Saddam was toppled.

He called current strategies — including the deployment of 30,000 additional forces earlier this year — a "desperate attempt" to make up for years of misguided policies in Iraq.

"There is no question that America is living a nightmare with no end in sight," Sanchez told a group of journalists covering military affairs.

Sanchez avoided singling out at any specific official. But he did criticize the State Department, the National Security Council, Congress and the senior military leadership during what appeared to be a broad indictment of White House policies and a lack of leadership to oppose them.

Such assessments — even by former Pentagon brass — are not new, but they have added resonance as debates over war strategy dominate the presidential campaign.

The Bush administration didn't directly address Sanchez's critical views.

"We appreciate his service to the country," said White House spokesman Trey Bohn. He added that as U.S. commander in Iraq Gen. David Petraeus and U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker have said: "There is more work to be done, but progress is being made in Iraq and that's what we're focused on now."

Sanchez retired from the Army last year, two years after he completing a tumultuous year as commander of all U.S. forces in Iraq. As he stepped down, he called his career a casualty of the Abu Ghraib prison scandal.

He was never charged with anything but he was not promoted in the aftermath of the prisoner abuse reports. He was criticized by some for not doing more to avoid mistreatment of Iraqi prisoners.

Sanchez told the gathering that he thought he had made mistakes and said he didn't always fully appreciate the secondary affects of actions the military took.

He did deny reports that he and then-Iraqi administrator L. Paul Bremer were not on speaking terms. He said they spoke every day.

The retired soldier stressed that it became clear during his command that the mission was severely handicapped because the State Department and other agencies were not adequately contributing to a mission that could not be won by military force alone.

When asked when he saw that the mission was going awry, he responded: "About the 15th of June 2003" — the day he took command.

"There is nothing going on today in Washington that would give us hope" that things are going to change, he said.

Sanchez went on to offer a pessimistic view on the current U.S. strategy against extremists will make lasting gains, but said a full-scale withdrawal also was not an option.

"The American military finds itself in an intractable situation ... America has no choice but to continue our efforts in Iraq," said Sanchez, who works as a consultant training U.S. generals.

[chottala.com] How General Moeen U Ahmed earns over 66 lakh taka in one year?

How General Moeen U Ahmed earns 66 lakh 53 thousand 892 taka in one year?

Octopuses camouflage themselves by changing both color and shape

From: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/khabor/message/5401

General Moeen U Ahmed, current Chief of Bangladesh Army, took over 1 crore BD taka from the new bank, Trust Bank as a house loan.  As of December 31, 2005 , he had an outstanding balance of 99, 69, 215 (99 lakh 60 thousand 215 taka) as part of the house building loan. By December 31, 2006 , the outstanding balance came down to only 33, 15, 323 taka (33 lakh 15 thousand 323 taka). That means within one year, (during 2006, when he is working as army chief) he paid back 66, 53, 892 taka (66 lakh 53 thousand 892 taka) to the bank How he could earn over 66 lakh BD taka to pay back part of his loan?

For proof and detail, please read:

http://www.csebd.com/cse/download/Prospectus_TRUSTBANK.pdf

Please go to indexed page # 20 to verify the information. Paid back 66.53 lakh in one calendar year

Is it believable?   But it is fact!

That is why no army officer (in service or retired) is yet caught , charged by this military backed interim government) for their such huge corruption.  By the by, General Moeen U Ahmed is the Chairman of the Trust Bank, being the chief of armed forces. His brother Iqbal U Ahmed is a managing director of trust bank. [ Originally Blogged by Arif Ahmed]

Can some one explain the episode in the lights of

(1) Transparecy (2) Conflicts of interest (3) Paribar Tantra (4) Expediency

Octopuses camouflage themselves by changing both color and shape

That will install a unicode supported bangla characters in your pc. And you will be able to see the unicode bangla characters.

Ok Now about T-Bangla Word Processor
This is a simple Editor for Bangla Writing in Unicode.
Now a days Unicode is used to read and write in almost everywhere.
You can just copy the unicode written text and paste it in web pages forms like the compose area in yahoo mail. It will visible to everybody who have at least one unicode supported font in the pc.

This software need  jdk/jre1.5 or higher to run which you will get from www.sun.com site.
To run the program then you just need a double click.
To run the program you dont need to install any font or any other things.
Its a standalone program.

This is the first version of the program. It may have or must have some bugs.
I tried to fixed all the bugs but not everyone saw every bug.

At first I want to develop this program just for my private use.. but after building the program i thought that it will be a great help to the whole bengali community in the web.
So im now trying to distributing this software. You can distribute it too among your frnds.
