[chottala.com] Khaleda comes out clean in an ACC probe ???????????????

MAGURCHHARA, PHULBARI ISSUES
ACC finds Khaleda not involved

Moneruzzaman Mission

The Anti-Corruption Commi-ssion will not file any case against former prime minister Khaleda Zia in connection with alleged irregularities in the Magurchhara gas field blow-out compensation and the Phulbari coal project as the commission has found Khalned not involved in the issues.
'After a preliminary inquiry, the commission has not found any evidence and witnesses to prove the allegations of irregularities in Magurchhara and Phulbari issues against Khaleda Zia,' said the commission secretary, Mokles ur Rahman, at a regular briefing on Thursday.
'The inquiry against Khaleda in the issues will be suspended and no first information report will be filed as the allegations against her have no merit,' he said.
Mokles said the commission's officer Farid Uddin Ahmed had conducted an inquiry into the allegations against Khaleda over the Magurchhara and Phulbari issues for more than a month and sought that the inquiry should be suspended.
Successive governments, including the immediate past BNP-led government, have failed to realise Tk 3900 crore in compensation from the US company Chevron, a successor to Occidental, over the blow-out that took place in 1997 at the Magurchhara gas field in Moulvibazar.
There have been allegations that the Phulbari coal field was awarded to the UK-based Asia Energy without following the required procedure.
Replying to a query, Mokles said Chevron was paying 5 per cent of additional gas to Petrobangla from Magurchhara in compensation for the blow-out after it signed a supplementary agreement in 2005.
Petrobangla officials said the supplementary agreement that provided Petrobangla with 5 per cent of additional gas was signed in 1998 to extend the original production sharing contract. The BNP-led government on July 1, 2002 asked Occidental to pay $685 million in compensation for the Magurchhara blow-out.
As for Phulbari coal field, Mokles said the leasing of the Phulbari coal field was still under process. 'As the leasing is still under process, there is no point in carrying out an inquiry.'
The BNP government in 1994 gave an exploration licence to the Australian BHP for the Phulbari coal field in reported violation of some rules and the Awami League government allowed the BHP to hand over the licence to Asia Energy.
There have been allegations that the Asia Energy was awarded the exploration licence by the government in such a way that it would need to provide the company with the mining licence.
Replying to another query, Mokles said the commission was continuing with the inquiry into the allegations of irregularities against Khaleda and another former prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, in awarding Niko Resources two gas fields.

Re: [chottala.com] Voter I.D. Card

WRT:

Good idea, but without strict and proper birth registration and a centralized
database the vulnarability still exists.

How about Moslem Rohingas refugees inside Bangladesh getting
ID cards?

Is there any documentation that "our Bengali speaking Dadababu
from west Bengal" entered to cast fake votes for their favourite
party well known to you in the past elections?

I have never heard, even from the communal and Islam-passand
parties, any such allegation of  "Dadababus from west Bengal"
casting votes en-block in Bangladeshi Elections in the past.

In any event, a recent estimate by the Election Commission
projected about 1 crore less voter than that was prepared during
Jote-Sarkar. Can you tell us who were these ghost voters?
I am sure, they were not the "Dadababus from west Bengal" !

For catching the "Dadababus who are doing job in our country
and taking our money to India for a long time who are doing
job in our country and taking our money to India for a long time",
it is equally important to impose hefty fines to the employers
who employ these "Dadababus".

However, an honest and efficient Policing is a prerequisite
for catching the violators.

Occationally we see in news papers about BJP and Shiv Sena
list Bangladeshi Muslims in the slums of Mumbai to perpetuate
Hindu communalism in the eve of election.  Example:
Do I smell  similar undertones in "Dadababu" politics ?
Is this BJP-ShivSena politics in Jamaati bottle?

In order to advance and progress as a Modern Nation we must
abhor all forms of communalism and use of religion in politics
(open and disguised).

Yes, "in all civilized countries now a days there is a system
of I.D. card with photo." But, has that prevented the illegal
alians from working and sending money back home?
There are over 7.5 million illegal alians working in USA.
[2003 Number was 7 Million

Thanx to our CTG for their activities in voter lists preparation and also other formalities.. More necessity for our CTG to prepare voter I.D. cards with photo to stop the Indian infiltrators to enter in mass during our election time. If they really make identity cards for every citigen, then we hope our Bengali speaking Dadababu from west Bengal cannot enter to cast fake votes for their favourite party well known to all of us.
Morever it will stop all Dadababus who are doing job in our country and taking our money to India for a long time. It will be easy to catch them by searching I.D. Card from them in future.. In all civilized countries now a days there is a system of I.D. card with photo. Why not it should be in our country also.

[chottala.com] Fw: [vinnomot] Giti Ara Safia’s husband threatens to kill expatriate Dr. Mahbub and his wife

I am simply saddened at this story.  Dr. Mahbub Islam is a very good person. He is very quiet and gentle. He is a man of integrity and highly law-abiding. He is an excellent teacher and after receiving his PhD in Economics from the Boston's Northeastern University, he had been teaching in Pennsylvania..  He got his tenure and became a full professor.

In late 1990s when the economy of Bangladesh was showing signs of hopes, he and his wife started investing in Bangladesh with lots of expectations and hopes.  Once they finished building their beautiful building in Gulshan with their savings, they moved to Bangladesh and both started businesses.  Dr. Islam while teaching at a local private university (maybe North South) started a Real Estate Development firm and his wife, Mrs. Islam started an Internet Company in Dhaka with a view to settle in Bangladesh permanently.  Last January when I visited them in Dhaka, in spite of political polarization and indiscipline, they were very upbeat about the future of Bangladesh.  They were also involved with a few philanthropic activities.  Now I see that they are in trouble.  Very, very sad indeed.

Until and unless 'rule of law' and 'rights of property' is fully established and guaranteed in Bangladesh, it would be difficult for anyone especially the expatriates (that are law abiding) to invest in Bangladesh. No wonder, many expatriates that invested in Wage Earners bonds in Bangladesh are now reportedly withdrawing their investment out of fear, fear of uncertainty.

Fw: [chottala.com] A Quick Email Inverview with Dr. David King

Dear aminmm,
You are right to say, if anybody don't respect to their present administrative govt. they don't like themselves also. I don't know why our nature is to criticise our country's representative to the outside world. Is it bringing any credit to us. Whatever might be it should be limited within ourselves only,  not to spread it to outside. We should remember a representative is not representing himself only, rather he is representing the whole nation. A C.N.C. of a country used to come to his position step by step in a legal way, not illegally by KARCHUPI as our corrupted political leaders.

With due respect to all the members I like to say we, (including me) are so mean that we tried to find whether Gen. Moin U Ahmed came USA without any invitation or not. If Gen. Moin wants Invitation he can get 1000 Invitation from USA. All those will be for the Army chief of a country. No matter it is a small country or big.You can read newspaper and see how they are closing all your leaders backdoors all over the country.

If I do not respect my Government I do not respect me. Gen. Moin is our country representative and we should respectful to him as a Bangladeshi. If you feel you are American only that's another story. Sorry for hurting you.

A Bangladeshi.

[chottala.com] Re: [khabor.com] Mr. Shamim your repeated Propaganda have Failed once again !!

Nahid I agree with you. Some people they never realize what they talking about. They do not see the goods and they always trying to find anything that is not inspiring. Anyone say anything against Dr. Fakhrudding is enemy of Bangladesh. And to be honest this kind of chatukars created all the problems for Sk. Hasina and Begum Zia. I think these Two woman is not that bad. Army chief is a very big post and these writers don't even know how big that post is. Another view some people always criticize others no matter how good they doing. Who cares may be They loosed Yaba business in Bangladesh. I know I am a bad guy but I try to respect you and others  all time.
