[chottala.com] Einstein's e=mc2 and Mullah Turkman's attempted distortion of Physics

Einstein's e=mc2 and Mr.Turkman's attempted distortion of Physics
"No well-trained physcist would describe Einstein's theory as a negtion of Newton's. Only a person with shallow, superficial and mechinistic
understanding of physics would lead to that kind conclusion"

If Mr.Turkman is such a great Physicist he should publish a paper based on his
theorical calculations & thought experiments in peer-reviwed journal of physics.

Dear All

Mr. Turkman seem to be confused about the frame of reference.
He is out context, the news item is about Mass-energy equivalence:

It is not about the about the gravitational aspect of special theory of relativity.

Einstein  did not negate Newtons laws of motion or theory of gravitation.
[Mr. Turkman indication that " his (Einstein's] theory that Issac Newton was wrong"
is an erroneous assertion].

Einstein, clearly showed that Newton's Three Laws of Motion were only correct in the appropriate frame of reference, breaking down when velocities approached that of light. Secondly he showed that Newton's Law of Gravitation was only correct
in the relatively weak gravitational field,  breaking down in the presence of very strong gravitational fields.

To summarize the differences between Newton's theory of gravitation and the Einstein's theory of gravitation implied by the General Theory of Relativity.
They make essentially identical predictions as long as the strength of the gravitational field is weak, which is our usual experience. However, there are three crucial predictions where the two theories diverge:

The orientation of Mercury's orbit is found to precess in space over time. This is commonly called the "precession of the perihelion", because it causes the position of the perihelion to move. Only part of this can be accounted for by perturbations in Newton's theory. There is an extra 43 seconds of arc per century in this precession that is predicted by the Theory of General Relativity and observed to occur (a second of arc is 1/3600 of an angular degree). This effect is extremely small, but the measurements are very precise and can detect such small effects very well with todays technology.

Einstein's theory predicts that the direction of light propagation should be changed in a gravitational field, contrary to the Newtonian predictions.

Precise observations indicate that Einstein is right, both about the effect and its magnitude. A striking consequence is gravitational lensing. The General Theory of Relativity predicts that light coming from a strong gravitational field should have its wavelength shifted to larger values (what astronomers call a "red shift"), again contary to Newton's theory. Once again, detailed observations indicate such a red shift, and that its magnitude is correctly given by Einstein's theory. The electromagnetic field can have waves in it that carry energy and that we call light. Likewise, the gravitational field can have waves that carry energy and are called gravitational waves. These may be thought of as ripples in the curvature of spacetime that travel at the speed of light. Just as accelerating charges can emit electromagnetic waves, accelerating masses can emit gravitational waves. However gravitational waves are difficult to detect because they are very weak and no conclusive evidence has yet been reported for their direct observation. They have been observed indirectly in the binary pulser.

Because the arrival time of pulses from the pulser can be measured very precisely, it can be determined that the period of the binary system is gradually decreasing. It is found that the rate of period change (about 75 millionths of a second each year) is what would be expected for energy being lost to gravitational radiation, as predicted by the Theory of General Relativity. Modern theory of gravitation is the General Theory of Relativity. However, only if velocities are comparable to that of light, or gravitational fields are much larger than those encountered on the Earth, do the Relativity theory and Newton's theories differ in their predictions. Under most conditions Newton's three laws and his theory of gravitation are adequate..

No well-trained physcist would describe Einstein's theory as a negtion of Newton's.
Only a person with shallow, superficial and mechinistic understanding of physics would lead to that kind conclusion.

Mr. Turkman has rights to present his own theory but that needs to substatiated with
proper calculation or appropriate experimental results. [Just like the then Dhaka University
Professor Satyen Bose did to establish Bose-Einstein Statistics]

If Mr.Turkman is such a great Physicist he should publish a paper based on his
theorical calculations & thought experiments in peer-reviwed journal of physics.

Mr. Turkman's out of context blanket question "What proof is there that Light curves
going through Compressed Space and not because of Gravity of a Planet or Sun?"
is out and out an attempt to distort science and clearly Mullah-like.

Thanks for everyone's patience.

But I do not agree with his theory that Issac Newton was wrong and Gravity is caused because of compression of Space by the planets.

What proof is there that Light curves going through Compressed Space and not because of Gravity of a Planet or Sun?

Oh I'm sorry. I should be discussing this with a Physicist. I have no idea, if you are one.

PARIS (AFP) – It's taken more than a century, but Einstein's celebrated formula e=mc2 has finally been corroborated, thanks to a heroic computational effort by French, German and Hungarian physicists.

A brainpower consortium led by Laurent Lellouch of France's Centre for Theoretical Physics, using some of the world's mightiest supercomputers, have set down the calculations for estimating the mass of protons and neutrons, the particles at the nucleus of atoms.

According to the conventional model of particle physics, protons and neutrons comprise smaller particles known as quarks, which in turn are bound by gluons.

The odd thing is this: the mass of gluons is zero and the mass of quarks is only five percent. Where, therefore, is the missing 95 percent?

The answer, according to the study published in the US journal Science on Thursday, comes from the energy from the movements and interactions of quarks and gluons.

In other words, energy and mass are equivalent, as Einstein proposed in his Special Theory of Relativity in 1905.

The e=mc2 formula shows that mass can be converted into energy, and energy can be converted into mass.

By showing how much energy would be released if a certain amount of mass were to be converted into energy, the equation has been used many times, most famously as the inspirational basis for building atomic weapons.

But resolving e=mc2 at the scale of sub-atomic particles -- in equations called quantum chromodynamics -- has been fiendishly difficult.

"Until now, this has been a hypothesis," France's National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) said proudly in a press release.

"It has now been corroborated for the first time."

For those keen to know more: the computations involve "envisioning space and time as part of a four-dimensional crystal lattice, with discrete points spaced along columns and rows."

Looking back: Interim govt. couldn't do it, but would the next government have the courage to execute this plan?
We really hope that next elected government, if that really happens(!), would listen to this.

Following is a slightly modified version of the previous article, the content is still valid.

Corruption is an economy - ignoring this would be fatal

We all hate corruption, want it to be stopped and punish the culprits. These are all good, but can you sustain the situation if you stop all the corruption in a short period of time? We do not think so and past history says that you have to do something else in addition to punish the corrupts. Let me clarify.

We often forget the economic aspect of corruption. If 0.1% percent people of the country is getting the core benefits of corruption, many of the rest 99.9% people of the country is somehow involved in this corruption. It's a play where the rules are skewed - if you take the morality out of the equation.

Now, if you try to stop the corruption in six months, I would think it will be extremely difficult unless there are economic activities created to counter the economic aspect of the corruption. When corruption stops, income of all the foot-soldiers are stopped too. But these footsoldiers are not the main culprits! You can blame them for not being honest until death, but you can not / should not punish them. If the government thinks that these people will change themselves and find new way of income that will be asking too much from them. This expectation is not pragmatic. So, what do you do to counter the negative effects of stopping corruption?

Strategically its not that hard it seems. By stopping the everyday corruption, the government will be shaking the core of the current economic structure of the soceity. That is good. But you have to counter the effect with some other things - you have to inject energy into the ecomony from the positive side. Its like when you start to quit smoking. You need something to help during the transition - and it is hard time but doable.

Several things comes to my mind. Here I would indicate two among many other possibles. The government should do two things: give extra incentives to businessmen to take projects (big ones, i mean) in a urgent basis so more employment is created. All the stakeholders who thinks the government has to become successful, they will have to take new projects that create employment, even if that is financially risky in economic terms. But if enough number of people does that, the risk will be minimized or gone.

Also, the government should take some big infrastructure project very soon. Create a road infrastructure with 8-lane highways to connect all the six divisional headquarters. Name them as "Bivagio Road" type with grade one quality.

Create a road infrastructure with 6-lane highways to connect all the 64 district headquarters. Name them as "Zilla Road" type with grade two quality.

Create a road infrastructure with 4-lane highways to conect all the 460 sub-district headquarters. Name them as "Upazilla Road" type with grade three quality.

Create a road infrastructure with 2-lane highways to connect the unions. Name them as "Union Road" type with grade four quality.

Grade one and Grade two roads should be non-stop. As long as a car has fuel and the driver/passenger do not want to get out for some reason, they will not have to stop. Make this vision clear to the people and ask them to participate.

Take a immediate plan to stop all the river erosion. National river training and land reclamation projects needs to be done. If some river erosion cannot be stopped, make sure the rehabilitation is planned. The government has to make it clear that nobody - Nobody will be
allowed to lose their home or land by the will of nature/river. If nature is allowed to take its course, the citizens will be taken care of. This should be made clear to the citizens that it is a right of the citizens (not being evicted by neither by other citizens nor the river) - so they start expecting the same from the elected governments. Also, there is a concept of "Compact Township" in the development literature. The government should start examining this in relation to the overall development policy of the country. It is widely beleived that one has to learn from that literature in order to solve today's problem. Also, there should be incentives for the educated families to adopt their second child from poor neibourhoods within the country if they want a second child.

Some of you might be thinking where would the governemnt get all the money. I would like to say to them that if one know economics, really understands how money works, how macroeconomics works and take advantage of the connected world, its possible. Just look around the countries where governments are spending billions of dollars to kickstart their economies out of the looming recession. Compared to them, we have a growing economy. So, spending extra money is NOT a problem, the problem is whether you will be able to manage the extra spending well to make sure that resources are not wasted.

[chottala.com] Fake Medical Certificate : Falu's counsel says sorry !!!

Fake Medical Certificate - Falu's counsel says sorry  !!!

A counsel of former BNP lawmaker Mosaddek Ali Falu yesterday told the court he "mistakenly" attached the controversial medical report on his client's health to his bail petition in a relief scam case.

Falu's Advocate-on-Record (AOR) Moulavi Md Wahidullah made an unconditional apology to the Supreme Court (SC) for his "mistake" and the court reprimanded him.

He told the five-member full bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice MM Ruhul Amin that he mistakenly attached medical reports he got from his client.

Following his prayer for an unconditional apology, the apex court reprimanded him for attaching individual opinions of doctors as a recommendation of the medical board and asked him to be careful in future.

The court, however, pardoned him and also affirmed its earlier order that stayed the High Court (HC) order granting ad-interim bail to Falu in the case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Falu's lawyers had earlier submitted fake documents to the HC for his bail in the case. But top lawyers including the senior counsel of ACC marked it as a criminal offence.

Asked for his comments on the issue, Attorney General Salahuddin Ahmad said the matter is now up to the SC and he could not say anything without getting a detailed order.

Though only the jail authorities can form an official medical board for an inmate, physicians of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) formed several boards for high-profile prisoners and many of them obtained bail submitting their reports.

At least 21 different medical boards were formed for the prisoners during their stay at BSSMMU hospital.

According to the DIG (prisons), only five medical boards were properly formed for former premier and Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina, former ministers Abdul Jalil, Mohammed Nasim, and both sons of Khaleda Zia -- Tarique Rahman and Arafat Rahman Koko.

Besides, the court asked the jail authorities to submit medical documents of three accused -- former minister Moudud Ahmed, Chittagong Mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury and former state minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir.

Interestingly, the government remains silent over the matter. No government agency conducted an investigation to detect how many prisoners got bail on medical grounds submitting unofficial or controversial documents.

Meanwhile, Attorney General Salahuddin Ahmad and SC Registrar Abu Bakkar Siddiqui yesterday submitted to the Appellate Division separate reports on formation of the medical board for examining health of ill prisoners.

The SC had earlier asked them to submit the reports.

ACC counsel Advocate MA Aziz Khan told The Daily Star the SC after examining the reports will later pass an order with guidelines for formation of medical boards and sending reports on health of sick inmates to the courts.

The SC registrar prepared the report after holding enquiry on the controversial medical reports on Falu's health.

He stated in his report he has found that Falu's lawyer Wahidullah, who had placed the medical report before the court, could not identify and differentiate the actual board report and the subsequent follow-up report and consequently caused confusion and misunderstanding.

The attorney general said in his report there is no provision in law that any physician or medical board constituted by the doctors directly send any report to the court or any unauthorised person or the prisoner.

"The doctor or medical board constituted by doctors sends the health report of prisoners to the jail authorities and the jail authorities send the same to the court," he said.

Quoting relevant rules of the Bengal Jail Code, Salahuddin Ahmad also said the medical officer will examine prisoners complaining of illness and visit the patients in hospital daily and these duties will not be delegated to any subordinate.

On June 2, a special court set up at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban premises sentenced Falu, political secretary to former premier Khaleda Zia, to five years' rigorous imprisonment in the relief same case. Falu filed an appeal with the HC against the verdict.

Following the appeal, the HC bench of Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice Farid Ahmed on October 23 granted Falu three months bail in the case on health ground.

Falu, who was admitted to BSMMU for treatment, left the hospital on March 23 this year. But according to the medical report submitted by him, a five-member medical board was formed which prepared a report on his health on September 7, by the time he was released from the hospital.

Later, his relatives put all the names of physicians who checked his health different times and asked them to sign on that. Nine out of 11 physicians did accordingly.

Nine of the 11 BSMMU doctors who signed the medical reports on November 9 told the SC registrar the medical reports on Falu's health were not made by a medical board but were individual examination reports.

Asked for comment, Supreme Court Bar Association President Shafique Ahmed said if the false certificate is annexed with the petition, it is a criminal offence.

ACC's senior counsel Anisul Huq yesterday told The Daily Star submitting false medical certificates to the court for securing bail for an accused is a criminal offence and exemplary punishment should be given to the people who are involved.

Those who provided the false medical certificate to the court for securing Falu's bail are all educated and should be punished for this offence, he said.

Replying to a question, Anisul Huq said the government or ACC can file criminal cases with the courts against the people who are allegedly involved in providing false information to the court.

As per provisions of the penal code, the highest punishment for providing false information to the court is seven years' imprisonment, he added.

[chottala.com] Explain suspension of rights: HC to Bangladesh govt

Explain suspension of rights: HC to govt
Mon, Nov 24th, 2008 4:28 pm BdST

Dhaka, Nov 24 (bdnews24.com) – The High Court on Monday asked the government to explain in four weeks why constitutional amendments allowing the suspension of fundamental rights of the people during emergency rule should not be declared void.

The bench of justices Syed Mahmud Hossain and Quamrul Islam Siddiqui passed the order on a writ petition filed by journalists M Asafuddowla, Nurul Kabir and Amir Khasru, and anthropologist Rahnuma Ahmed.

The court also asked the government to explain why the president's order of the proclamation of emergency and suspension of fundamental rights should not be declared unconstitutional.

Barrister Mayeen Firozee moved the petition while deputy attorney general Razik-al-Jalil was present during the hearing.

Barrister Firozee submitted that articles 26(3), 141B, 141C and 142 (2) were inserted through the Constitution (Second Amendment) Act 1973 for the obvious purpose of curtailment of the fundamental rights of citizens.

He said, "Fundamental rights are a provision of the Constitution."

Barrister Firozee contended that through the second amendment, therefore, the harmony of the Constitution had been destroyed.

He further argued, "The president invoking his power under article 141C issued a proclamation of emergency on January 11 (2007), and issued two emergency powers orders suspending fundamental rights."

Barrister Firozee continued, "Curtailing the right to move before the High Court for enforcement of fundamental rights, the independence of judiciary has also been curtailed."

HC asked the law secretary, the president's secretary and home secretary to reply the rule
