[chottala.com] A Short Review of Professor Abdul Mannan's Article:"Awami League – the party that still matters."

I agree with Mohiuddin Anwar about Professor Mannan's Awami League biased write ups and normally ignore reading them but lately his article on Awami League drew my attention and I wrote a review on it.
------------------------

A Short Review of Professor Abdul Mannan's Article:"Awami League – the party that still matters."
Abid Bahar

Professor Mannan's above mentioned article is a genuine portral of the Congress party but as soon as he began the discussion of Muslim League, he demonstrates biases and makes sweeping judgements about the later as if he he follows an Awami pro-Indian bias. This is clear when Prof. Mannan not realizing the historical fact that if there was no Muslim League, there wouldn't be any Muslim Awami League, and also there won't be any Awami League party and then the birth of Bangladesh.
Additionally,, if there was no Muslim League and the creation of Pakistan, (like in Kashmir or even worse than Kashmir,) there would be a continued Indian genocide on East Bengali people. Isn't it true that East Bengalis enmass willingly voted for Pakistan to eventually create Bangladesh? True, subsequently, we fooled both Pakistan and India in our ultimate goal to achieve what is today's Bangladesh.
I believe Professor Abdul Mannan is a teacher of commerce and has a long crediential but he has been unsucessfully trying to write Bangladesh history with his Awami bias which will be clear in the following:
1. Firstly, the prof mentions about the dissolution of the United Front, but failed to mention Mujib's role in the killing of Deputy Speaker Shahed Ali'. This event was shown by most historians as the prime reason behind Pakistani rulers dissolving the Bengali United Front.
Professor Mannan wrote:
"From 1949 to 2011 Awami League has come a long way, battling seemingly insurmountable odds on its way. The support of the people has always been its main strength. It spearheaded the creation of an independent country, Bangladesh. It may not be out of place to mention that once in a while it lost way during this long journey. After the tragic assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib on the fateful night of August 15, 1975 Awami League leadership to some extent went into oblivion till the return of Sheikh Hasina on May 17, 1981."

2. In the above Professor Mannan said only part of history not the whole history leaving many known holes. The biggest one for example, he failed to mention that Mujib was  the one who in 1975 destroyed Awami League. Mujib's BKSAL one party system and the dissolution of the Awami League was disapproved by Osmani and experts claim that Mujib's killing was led by his more "democratic-minded Awami League colleagues"who opposed the authoritarian BKSAL and its oppressive Rakkhi Bahini.Professor Mannan continues: "Though Sheikh Hasina revived the party and brought it to power twice amidst tremendous hostile conditions, it cannot be said today's Awami League is as efficient as it was in the days of Bangabandhu or his predecessors. However still people look up to this party in their days of despair and national crisis.

3. In the above Professor Mannan instead of identifying the truth appreciates Mujib the destroyer of Awami League.

The prof says, "Out of the three oldest parties of this sub-continent – INC, ML and AL – ML has died a natural death as it was founded on extremely weak premises. The two other survived many storms and continue to push ahead. Let us hope on this day AL and its leadership bury all the self-seeking petty politics behind and look forward to building a nation that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib and his colleagues dreamt of during those difficult days of the party. Happy Birth Day to Awami League, and felicitations to all those that have brought the party from strength to more strength."
In the above statement, surely Professor Mannan skillfully fooled everybody except some analytical thinkers. After reading the above two paragraphs, having lots of ommissions and biases by the Prof, I came to realize that the Prof. is an Awami historian who wrote his article for mostly nonhistorians certainly then for Awami Mujib hero-worshippers. If he was trained as a historian and wrote it for student's of history, he would have mentioned about Mujib who established the BKSAL one party system and took all the measures to destroy the great Awami League originally founded by Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani.
Thanks Hasina for reviving the Awami League but no thanks to Mujib for  destroying the mass party Awami League in favor of the one party BKSAL.

In retrospect, taking about the Awami League, our hearty thanks to the mass leader Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani who like many world famous mass leaders was a selfless leader and all his life stayed in hut in a proliterian existance who also as the founder of the Awami League and for his other contributions should be recognized as one of the founding fathers of Bangladesh.

Mr. KMS Alam,

Let the readers decide about Prof. Mannan's  writing. He didnot criticize any wrogdoings of the Oppressive Hasina regime in his writing. Hasina regime is currently fulfilling the BKSAL idiology of her late father with three fourth majority in the Parliament, that is very bad for the nation. Democracy willbe the real victim of Hasina's action in near future. In Bangladesh, if you donot support Hasina's policy yoiu are nobopdy, entire system of government BKSALIZED including the Judiciery. I am confident that democracy loving people of Bangladesh will react when it is needed, make no doubt about it.  I do strongly believe that ,.Hasina never toloerates criticizm like all other Dictators. I understand his position that ,crticizing Netri will do no good to Prof Mannan if he lives in Banfgladesh.
We Bangladeshis living abroad are lucky that we can criticize any oppressive regime without any fear of prosecution. We saw how Hasina's critics were punished physicaly/mentally in Bangladesh.
There are very few brave writers now in Bangladesh who can criticise Hasina's wrongdoings/misrule freely.

Thanks and Regards,
M.A.

Dear Bro!

You are too rude for Prof. Mannan. I am sure you are not going
through most of his articles and column write up, he is little
exceptional than many CHatukars, he tells the truth within a frame
of person supporting the regime!

Hope you will realise, thanks.

Mr. Mannan did very good job to please Netri Hasina and I do strongly believe that he will be rewarded for his writing.
He needs to change his eyeglass to see things clearly for good. He did not mention single  failure of oppressive(?) Hasina regime unfortunately.
Such opportunists(Chatukers) will ruin  Netri,  as her fathers good work was rulind by his advisors.

Nuts Trump Carbs for Diabetes Control

Replacing that daily muffin with a handful or two of nuts may help people with diabetes better control their blood sugar and cholesterol levels, a new study suggests.

Researchers found that when people with Type-2 diabetes replaced some of their usual carbohydrates with about a half-cup of mixed nuts each day, the study participants' blood sugar and "bad" cholesterol levels dipped slightly over three months.

In contrast, no such improvements were seen among people who swapped their normal carbs for a daily whole-wheat muffin.

The findings, published in the journal Diabetes Care, do not mean that nuts are the key to diabetes control, the authors say.

"We should be focusing on overall diet and lifestyle," Cyril W.C. Kendall of the University of Toronto in Canada, one of the researchers on the study, told Reuters Health.

The point, he said, is that "nuts can be part of a healthy diet."

"They have a lot of fat, but we now realize that those fats are healthy ones," Kendall added, referring to the unsaturated fats that have been linked to a lower risk of heart disease and other health benefits.

Still, nuts are high in calories, and people with diabetes should not simply add a handful to their usual diet, according to Kendall.

"They could use them instead to displace some of the less healthy snacks they usually have," he said.

For the study, Kendall and his colleagues randomly assigned 117 adults with Type-2 diabetes to one of three groups: One group was given unsalted mixed nuts and told to eat them instead of some of their usual carbs; a second group replaced their normal carbs with "healthy" whole-wheat muffins with no added sugar. The third group went on a half-nut/half-muffin regimen.

The "full-nut" group ate, on average, about 2 ounces (or a half-cup) of nuts per day, which totaled roughly 475 calories.

After three months, the researchers found, the full-nut group showed a 0.2 percent dip in their average hemoglobin A1C level — a measure of long-term blood sugar control.

The change was small, and "just shy," Kendall said, of what is considered a "clinically significant" improvement in blood sugar control.

But, he added, people in the study were already on diabetes medication and typically had good blood sugar control. "So we're seeing a benefit over and above what they were achieving with medication," Kendall said.

As for cholesterol, the nut group's average LDL cholesterol — the "bad" kind — declined from about 97 milligrams per deciliter to 89 mg/dL. (An LDL count below 100 mg/dL is generally considered optimal.)

No similar improvements were seen in the other two groups.

It's not clear why the full-nut group showed better blood sugar and LDL numbers. Kendall said he suspects it is largely because of the monounsaturated fats in nuts.

"But," he added, "they also have protein, there's a little fiber, and some polyphenols." Polyphenols are antioxidant compounds found in a wide range of plant foods.

The bottom line for people with diabetes, Kendall said, is to remember that diet and other lifestyle habits, like regular exercise, matter. "Diet is very important, even if you are taking medication."

For people who are not crazy about nuts, there are other sources of monounsaturated fat, like olive oil and avocados. While this study did not look at those foods, Kendall said it would be a wise move to replace some carbs with those fats.

Another question is whether the blood sugar and cholesterol changes linked to eating nuts last over time — and whether they translate into lower rates of heart disease or other diabetes complications.

Studying that is difficult, since very large groups of people would have to be followed over years — a very expensive undertaking, Kendall noted.

"But," he said, "I think these long-term studies are important to do."

The current study was partially funded by the International Tree Nut Council Nutrition Research & Education Foundation and the Peanut Institute, both industry groups.

You BAKSALIS will be thrown to Dustbin as was done to previous fascist BAKSALIS.
Why don't you go back to Digital Bangladesh and join notorious RAB insteadof  staying in a civilized country ?
No BAKSALISM will be allowed in any western democracies. There is no RAB , Awami Police, Awami Supreme Cort in USA or Canada?

Mr Mohiuddin Anwar,

You better keep your US immigration in tighter way..Other wise you will be in deep trouble bearing in mind that Home Security BILL is too expensive n FBI tracks all Islamist/Sympathizers.Days will be more tough in coming days after capture of OBLs..
BNP will not help you even financially if you have to return Bangladesh...Both the side you will loose PLUS your kids/well grown up child (I guess)can't match with local MOLLAHS(May be you can manage somehow)
Better keep a good care on yr skin since facial care is not allowed by yr Mollah Thantra...Shahara is not Casio dealer like Babar (Used to bring watch fm Dubai/Oman/SA thru airport) man from Netrokhona...Now came to know much more arms(Used to be more sophisticated biz during '90s and early '00s) came thru Marine Logistics /Chittagong port..But you guys are fool...there is zoom within Satellite views...Inform your Mollahs..
Things don't remain under table for prolonged period...Good money on Arms smuggling...What next...Now NO DAUD..ISI is in deep trouble after OBL era is over...Khaleda doesn't have good think tanks/advisors...the way Zia picked up...remains CHUTA DHAL...

I do strongly believe those pro-ruling party Police officials will receive justice in coming days when Hasina/Shahara won't remain power to suppress opposing voices INSHALLAH. Home Minister Sharhara Khatun should receive same treatment like Joynal Abedin Faruq. No criminal action will go unpunished. Shahara Khatun Chamra Shokto Korun.
