[chottala.com] US Debt

http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2011/07/doorbell.php

For those in the USA, you will find this simple video very touching!

Just to be fair......the debt issue had been made to look like a crisis by the Washington clowns, and the damage had already been done to the $$ as a reserve currency from a perception point of view. If we just reverse the special tax credits given to the Oil/Gas industries during the Bush era and make that industry pay taxes like other industries, then the debt issue could be resolved in 10 years from tax revenues. To put things into perspective, US debt is ~97% of its GDP, and the country is #20 in the top 20 debt ridden countries. Just to compare, England's debt is ~400% of its GDP, and some other European country's debts are over 1000% of its GDP!!

[chottala.com] New Jersey Governor slams fearmongering over Sharia law ....

Chris Christie slams fearmongering over Sharia law

New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie defended his decision to nominate a Muslim judge to the state Superior Court against conservative critics who warned that the new judge will implement Sharia law. The notoriously blunt-spoken Christie calling their fears "crap" and "crazy."

The appointee, Sohail Mohammed, is an American attorney who offered legal aid to New Jersey residents who were suspected after the 9/11 terrorist attacks but were later found innocent of any crimes.

Opponents of Mohammed's nomination have issued warnings, with no evidence, that Christie's nominee, if approved, would base his rulings on Islamic law. Christie was having none of it.

"Sharia law has nothing to do with this at all. It's crazy. It's crazy," Christie said at a press conference Wednesday. "The guy's an American citizen who has been an admitted lawyer to practice in the state of New Jersey, swearing an oath to uphold the laws of New Jersey, the constitution of the state of New Jersey, and the Constitution of the United States of America . . . .This Sharia law business is crap. It's just crazy. And I'm tired of dealing with the crazies."

You can watch the exchange after the jump:

Several Republican presidential candidates have warned of a Muslim plot to force American courts to rule by the religious code. Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum recently called it "an existential threat" to the United States; former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty shut down a program in his state that would allow practicing Muslims to pay for mortgages without violating their religious teachings against borrowing with interest; businessman Herman Cain said he would require Muslims to take an extra loyalty oath to serve in his administration; and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich called for a federal law to ban Sharia from U.S. courts.

Sohail Mohammed represented more than 32 arrested detainees after 9/11. He has trained more than 7,000 law enforcement and court officers on enhanced understanding of Muslim practices. And he has organized a job fair at a Paterson mosque so Muslims could apply for law enforcement jobs.

Among his proudest accomplishments in his 17-year career was his work in creating a non-denominational prayer room at Giants Stadium, a first for the National Football League.

But the 47-year-old native of India, whom Governor Christie nominated for the bench in January, was reluctant to tout his impressive résumé.

Re: [chottala.com] “Warm wishes - My response on your article”

    Dear Mr Siraj Uddowllah

He was Vice chancellor of University, now professor of a private University, Column writer of News Papers,   writer of books for higher study education and also the guide writer for politicians.

His multifarious field's activities certainly can make him an important teaching professional for building nation.

But it seems that he does not try to understand that writings are needed  on correct moral principle for building Bangladesh a lawful civilized nation.

It may be the cause for him

that he is professing and writing not for nation building but for own food earning.

    Thanks

    D khan

    Dear dina khan,

I am always interested to read your articles attentively.  The reply which you gave under the heading of  “Warm wishes - My response on your articleâ€â€  written by an educated man happened to be a Professor of some unversity seem to be biased by supporting blindly a party and indirectly supporting mercy of a murderer  punished by the court of Justice as death sentences. The question is to see to whom mercy was given,

    (1) whether that man is victimised person or

    (2) a man previously known as a notorious man.

If he is in the 2nd category I like to ask that learned Professor whether it is justified to give a chance to a known criminal to do more and more crimes in the long run. Mr. Professor put forward so many examples of the past to justify his arguments and tried his level best to support that criminal by giving a link of his writings in the daily newspaper The Prathom Alo as

    http://www.prothom-alo.com/detail/date/2011-08-02/news/174685.

May be so many wrongs happened in the past, why the same will be repeated again and again. Here I like to put an example to Professor Saheb about Prof. Badruduzza Chowdhury who being in the same BNP, during his Presidentship did not comply with his own party’s request to attend the mazar of Late President Ziaur Rahman as according to his opinion he was not a president of BNP only at that time rather he was a president of a country including BNP, Awami League and all and for which even he lost his Presidentship also, still not deviated from his principle. Sorry Mr. Professor being a highly qualified man of a society we did not aspect such types of your supporting argumants for a murderer.

    Dr. Siraj Uddowllah.

    Assalakualaikum Sir.

A very disappointing article from you in regards of Presidential pardon. As I mentioned to you earlier, two wrong doings can’t make things right. Not to mention that, late Nurul Islam was killed in an extremely brutal manner by Mr. Biplob.

Sir, nation deserves more from teachers, especially the ones seems to be wise and just and reaching/preaching people with their valuable columns. My late father, once angrily told me, â€Å"if someone ask you to eat shit, will you be doing it! When, I was trying to blame on someone’s instruction, for one of my childhood misdeed.

I have a simple question to ask you. By pardoning Mr. Biplob, did Mr. Zillur Rahman loose the moral ground to seek justice for his wife Late Ivy Rahman’s killing!

Pls use the Boolean method to response my question. As, often, we lose the accurate answer in too many twisted words.

    Thanks.

    Vala thaikkun.
