[chottala.com] Informal CTG - without letter head

If you hear  Moinul With hasan Masud on 19 September probah, then  you will find  some thing to laugh.

Some private television channels have resumed airing talk shows after a gap of about a month.
The airing of such talk shows had been suspended at a government instruction since August 22 when curfew was ordered of six divisional headquarters.
The channels are, however, conducting the shows in accordance with certain 'conditions' set by the government.
Others are still hesitant to host such shows.
The information adviser, Mainul Hosein, on Monday called the top officials of the channels to his secretariat office and handed in the guideline printed on plain paper.
'Mainul Hosein called us to his office and handed in a written guideline for hosting talk shows,' Channel i director Shykh Seraj told New Age on Wednesday.
'The guideline was not printed on letterhead. It was a plain sheet of paper and not signed,' he said.
The informal guideline includes nine conditions:
'The unplanned and uncontrolled airing of talk shows on different television channels has created an adverse impact on the socio-economic condition of the country… The airing of talk shows can again be allowed now only if the "conditions" mentioned below are adhered to.
'A. Each channel can air the highest of 2 to 3 talk shows a week. It is better to air a single talk show in a day.
'B. Talk shows will need to be "edited." No talk shows can be aired live.
'C. Talk shows cannot have interactive discussions or live SMS or phone-in.
'D. Inviting the same guest repeatedly is to be discouraged.
'E. Enough care should be taken in the selection of guests for talk shows. Noted thinkers, intellectuals, academics, and businessmen can be invited. Panels of guests should comprise people of various ideals.
'F. Emphasis should be given on constructive criticism and giving realistic and specific suggestions.
'G. Development, constructive, cultural, economic, social, religious and educational issues should be emphasised in talk shows. But any discussion harmful to cultural, economic, social and religious values should be avoided.
'H. Any kinds of instigating, blind and biased opinions, and statements that can create resentment towards the legitimate government of Bangladesh should also be avoided.
'I. Leading questions that can steer discussants towards a prefixed objective should be avoided. Guests should be given more time to speak by keeping the atmosphere congenial.'
Asked if the guideline has been officially imposed, the information secretary, Didarul Anwar, told New Age on Wednesday, 'It is an informal guideline.'
The NTV chief news editor, Khairul Anwar, said he had received a copy of the guideline.
The Channel 1 chief news editor, Nazmul Ashraf, said, 'We have been told that it is an unofficial guideline and we are to follow it.'
The Bangla Vision executive director, Aminur Rashid, said, 'We are yet to make any decision on resuming talk shows…. We are assessing to what extent we can follow the guideline.'
The top official of another television channel said, 'They [the government] have tagged some conditions to resuming talk shows. But they are not shouldering any responsibility.'

[chottala.com] Fate of Bangladeshi workers in foreign countries

Dear All of our Bangladeshi and our chottala readers,
Look at the followings, they are our Bangladeshis now lying in the Bangladesh high Commission office premises doing hunger strike. These people after giving a huge amount of money to the recruiting agents in Bangladesh by selling their last assets went to Malayasia with the hope of earning money and to bring some smile and happiness in their family, now dying in the street of Malayasia like this. Our govt should take necessary action by giving exemplary punishment to those fake recruiting agents for their forgery to the innocent Bangladeshi people. After all these don't bring any good names for our country. Our CTG are now taking a good drive against the corruption in our country. Why not they should take step to those corrupted recruiting agencies to save our Bangladeshi people from being victimisation like this in foreign countries.
Another news of two Bangladeshi brother jumped out off the ship in the Atlantic ocean near the coastal area of USA to go for staying purpose in New York. One of them was rescued and the other is missing.
Why these sorts of things are going on for our Bangladeshi people? Why our jobless younger generation now after frustation leaving our country and dying in the foreign countries like this? This is a great shame for our country. Our govt should check in the airport before their final deportation to outside and also to catch those recruiting agents, to give them punishment and to save our younger generation from these sorts of suicidal actvities in future.

Dr. Siraj uddowllah, Windsor, Canada.

[chottala.com] Qatar Group Buys London Exchange Stake

Qatar Group Buys London Exchange Stake

LONDON (AP) — The Qatar Investment Authority said Thursday it had acquired a 20 percent stake in the London Stock Exchange, the same day that Borse Dubai announced a deal to acquire the Nasdaq Stock Market's 28 percent stake in the LSE.

Terms of the Qatar deal were not disclosed.

Saying it intended to by a long-term shareholder, the Qatar Investment Authority said it "sees itself as a shareholder that will provide stability and support for the board's strategy of developing further its business and thereby reinforce the City of London's position as the world's top global capital market."

It ruled out a takeover bid for the time being, but said it reserved the right to change that position if someone else announces an intention to bid.

The London Stock Exchange, which declined to comment earlier Thursday about the Dubai deal, welcomed the Qatar investment. It said it had a long-standing relationship with the Qatari investors based on plans to develop the market in Qatar.

"The exchange believes that, given the strength of Qatar's economy and the development of Doha as a major financial center, there are significant opportunities to build further this relationship to the mutual benefit of both parties," it said in a statement.

Nasdaq failed in its bid earlier this year to take over the London Stock Exchange, which has turned away several bids over the past few years.

LSE shares soared 9.8 percent to 1,596 pence ($32.03) on Thursday. Borse Dubai is paying 1,414 pence ($28.38) per LSE share in its deal with Nasdaq.
