I was shocked, speechless and then ashamed by the news of attacks on our own Buddhist brothers and sisters and their temples in Bangladesh. It was barbaric and shameful acts and nothing can justify violence like this in a civil society. I would like to say sorry to all my Buddhist brothers and sisters on behalf of entire Bangladesh. I am from Chittagong and I have many Buddhist friends who are like my own family members. I don’t remember single incidents between Muslims and Buddhist ever taking place growing up there.
Please know that the entire nation of Bangladesh is saddened and in state of shock and embarrassed by these attacks by the fanatics. We cannot or will not allow Bangladesh to become an Afghanistan or Pakistan. We cannot let them win by getting intimidated. Let’s beat theses fanatics and intolerant people by forging even stronger ties amongst us. We have to make sure these tragedies never happen again. I demand and pray that all instigators of these heinous crimes will be brought to justice soon. Last but not least we love you and we are all in pain together. May God bless us all.

Sincerely,
Miro Jangi

Re: [chottala.com] To all my Buddhist brothers and sisters

I felt compelled to voice my opinion with two other members of this forum, Miro Jungi and Sultan Chowdhury, that we collectively condemn these heinous acts against the people of Buddhist faith in Bangladesh. I am also from the South-Eastern part of Bangladesh, Chittagong, and have a lot of Buddhist friends (in local dialect Buddhists are knows as "Bauras"). I grew up with and have had personal connections to many Buddhists; they were fellow students, teachers and neighbors. These are peaceful, tolerant and respected citizens of Bangladesh. STOP harassing our Buddhist compatriots.

RE: [chottala.com] To all my Buddhist brothers and sisters

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and feelings Miro!
Let's all join in to voice against the atrocious  acts of fanaticism.
It is a shame and is totally against the secular philosophy that we follow in Bangladesh.
Sincerely,
Aif Laila

[chottala.com] Re: [KHABOR] To all my Buddhist brothers and sisters

I ditto the sentiments expressed in Miro Jangi's (I thank him for initiating this message) email below.  I am also from Chittagong and had a number of Buddhist friends--we had nothing but friendship and respect for each other!
Tolerance and peaceful co-habitat is core of all faiths--I pray that our societies will rise to its spirit and show its practice and patience!  Hatred and killings, no matter where and on what pretext, must be condemned and stopped!
     May Allah bless all --
                                Sultan
