[chottala.com] Transit Agreement

I believe that it is everyone's right to have their own political beliefs, it's a wonderful right and that could be practiced the world over, but again getting over rights is disastrous for the well being of the common people.

Hartal, bandh, or general strikes may bring some benefits to the parties who call them but it also hurts in great magnitude to many.Boycott is another form of disobedience carried out by many parties for minor gains but has criplling effect on the countries image. Both our great leaders and parties, when in opposition, use both these tactics for gain general support.

The general people voted for the candidates who stood in the elections to represent them in parliment, to speak out their cause, oppose, debate, approve and participate in the development but boycotting the parliment does not serve the purpose of the public. I blame both BAL and BNP, instead of tearing each other's hair they should bury their hatchet, the sooner the better. Just because both these parties are at daggers drawn, the supporter have similiar mentality. Insulting does not bring anyone closer, instead by showing compasion will have better effects. We can all find faults with BAL and BNP but surely they have done somethings which benefitted the country in some way or another.

Have you people ever heard " It cut both ways". Let's assume the production cost of rice is Tk.25.00 and the market price is Tk.20.00, who suffers, it's the farmers. Next season production of rice will become less and the price will go up. So even if Ms. Hasina wants to lessen the price of rice it's not going to happen, unless free fertilizers and water becomes manditory. How can that happen, the city dwellers needs power, the factories and industries need power, so power have to be shared. Production in all sectors will suffer, so the price of rice.

Try and bury the hachet and work together, our differences should not effect the general people.

Regards.

Haider

dear Mr. Haider,

Fantastic, i appreciate your words ( and wish so)-- MORE POLITICALLY KNOWLEDGEABLE , NOT BLIND SIDED. but can't believe, when we see so many happy/ foolish mails like " THE ACHIEVEMENT OF HASINA ,,, BLA BLA BLA."

if you can see your mail correctly, you will get the same points as i raised!! --"Ms. Hasina and her party is in power just for an year and it's literally not possible to attain all goals within such a short time. Let's wait and see. " just to emphasise this line, i have brought up the old records and tried to say, do NEVER JUMP FOR THESE UGLY PARTIES -- ONLY BLINDS CAN BELIEVE THEM - NOT THE POLITICALLLY KNOWLEDGED PEOPLE at this stage!!

playing golf is not a crime -- rather pure entertainment for pure gentle men like you. But he was a murderer ( open secret). when there was already warrant against him, how such a FREE CITIZEN can play with the head of defence in public. shame man !! you can't see and arguing !!

i believe you dont have any land in BOSHUNDHARA. if you had you must know, that no one gets the reciept for whole the amount they pay. the reciept shows much less amount -- so the of tax is paid less than the required value to the government. do you think the government/ crime branch do not know this ?? ha man !!

food price -- gentlemen, i know the price is too high all over, i knew it from the time of BNP. now you understand the cause of price increase, why did not you under stand during BNPs time ??

i as a general public understand the world economy ( a very little bit to convince about price increase), you think Hasina could not understand ??

why did she give commitment for lowering the price at such a rate before election?? does not it mean she lied to the public?? or you will say that she never new world economy?? if she didn't- from such a position, how poor her quality is -- did you think!!!

I may not be so much of politically knowledged person as you are, but being a dumb head also i know that nothing is gonna changed by these parties -- nothing can be.

i wish you intelligents could understand too!!

WE all should raise our voice together against these parties to save the country -- or if cowered like me, should shut up and do the best to the public in personal ways, which virtually do not have any effect to the fate of mass community.

best regards

Yes Mr. Rabby, we are indeed fools and are also blind but we are not against the country in any way. If giving opinions is a crime and considered anti-state then surely we must be imprisoned.

If you do not mind, kindly allow me to point out that Ms. Hasina and her party is in power just for an year and it's literally not possible to attain all goals within such a short time. Let's wait and see. If BAL does not fulfill their assurances then we shall vote her out during the next elections. The people of Bangladesh, unfortunaely for many, have become much more polically knowladgeable, not blindsided.

Food prices, the world over have increased considerably, if you follow the world news, therefore Bangladesh is no exception.
Education has increased manifold, not because of BAL or BNP but because have become a little more intelligent and strive for education. In the BNP time we saw a huge increase in Madrasa education, which unfortunately does not benefit the mass public, well Madrasa spread has reduced, so you may have a point there.
World records shows that Bangladesh is doing extremely well in Family Planning scheme and the population is in check, that's because of hardwork of many NGO's not BNP or BAL, so what's your point?
Any free citizen, with the capacity and connection can play golf, I did not know that there were restictions on recreations and games, so why write on trifling matters when there are millions of other legitimate points.

Please do not sing like Ms. Zia and Mr. Delwar Hossain that Bangladesh is sold out and Ms. Hasina is doing her best to give out the country to India, lest you forget, Bangladesh is also Ms. Hasina's country and her family paid dearly for Bangladesh.

Finally sir, I am not any supporter of BAL and I do not like the way Ms. Hasina is adamant to hang some people, just as Late Ziaur Rahman did in his time.

A Blind Fool

Dear Dina Khan,

It's amusing to read your postings. We all have somewhat stressful lives and it's relaxing to note your humorous writings.

If Bangladesh Awami League is not doing politics then it must be Bangladesh Nationalist Party who are doing politics. BNP was surely doing politics during it's ruling tenure.  We, the public, have witnessed it, felt it, endured it and suffered it.

It's strange to note how BNP and it's supporters hate India, so everything which BAL does is for India and BAL becomes the agents of India. How sad. But what progress did BNP do in their term, not even extra electrictity, gas or oil. The KDA plan in Anowara, Chittagong was held up for years as KDA refused to pay Mr. Tariq his dues. More that 1000 people could be employed there. There are many many instances were development was held up just because payment was not secured. The people lost, but who cares for the people of Bangladesh, we are merely pawns of the powers. BAL may be the agents of India and BNP becomes the agents of Pakistan.

Hartal, it the tool used by the opposition party, it was there in the past, it is here in the present and shall be in the future. As soon as BNP gets enough support we shall see it, so please be patient.

Dina, kindly grow up and try and learn a little history.

Regards.

Haider

Actually
BAL leaders are not doing politics & are not working for the interest to the people of Bangladesh
They are doing Poly-Tricks how can go in power for looting the public money.
Actually they are real hijakars looters & faithful agents of India...
So they are always doing hartal works, breaking burning closing Mills Industries, destroying education infrastructures when they are not in power.
They are working as open secret agents of India when they are in power so that India can help BAL to stay in power.
For this reason BAL ministers BAL politicians are speaking for India & are doing works for the interest of India not speaking for the people of Bangladesh & not doing works for the interest to the people of Bangladesh They are expert in making fool the people of Bangladesh by lying & by miss interpreting....

Transit Agreement only Through National Referendum
Abid Bahar
Hasina's achievements is nothing but all talk and little action. The joint statement by the two countries was about future concerns only:
"The two Prime Ministers witnessed the signing in their presence of the following accords:
a. Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance on Criminal Matters
b. Agreement on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons
c. Agreement on Combating International Terrorism, Organized Crime and Illicit Drug Trafficking
d. Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Power Sector
e. Cultural Exchange Programme"
Bangladesh needs to remove Hasina's puppet government through mass Andolon: Hasina was chosen by the 1/11  agents through the digital deception is now puttling shakles on Bangladesh; She has no right to give India transit for free.
Transit Agreement could only be done with mandate from people and only Through a National Referendum.
 India is fooling us twice.

Dear chottala readers,

I fully agree with dina khan about her viewpoint that our politicians are doing Poly-Tricks not politics. Her every word is authentic and true to the point. Our leaders want power only without any feeling for our country. Nobody has got any sympathy and sincerity for our country with their nationalistic ideology. In concern of transit our govt should look after our interest first, not the interest of India. Our leaders used to tell they can sacrifice everything even their life for the sake of our people but in reality is it so? We are still lacking far behind than India in respect of patriotism. India are more sensitive to look after their own interest than the interest of others. In concern of corruption, in India they have also plenty of looters and corrupted people in their own country but in nationalistic feeling they are more cautious for their own nation. Many of our leaders by looting our country's wealth made their separate home and wealth outside and made their children also settled there at the cost of our money. Let them settle outside with their own money but why they are doing so by looting our country's wealth. Should we call it a sacrifice?

Dowllah.

RE: [chottala.com] Transit Agreement only Through National Referendum

dear Mr.

Regards.

[chottala.com] Mobile court raids Bangladesh British-American Tobacco headquarters in city.

Mobile court raids British-American Tobacco headquarters in city

DHAKA, Jan 20 (BSS) - A mobile court today raided the headquarters of the leading tobacco business firm- British American Tobacco (BAT)- to check whether the multinational company is abiding by the ethical and legal guidelines.

Magistrate Mohammad Al Amin, who led the team, said acting on a tip off, they seized the company's Mohakhali headquarters for 40 minutes at around 2.15 pm, but could not unearth anything wrong, excepting a dispute over the sale of `Benson Light' band of the company.

"We were informed that BAT has been doing unethical business using the word `Light' to make smokers foolish who wish to have cigarettes with less nicotine," Al Amin told BSS over phone, adding the company lawyers on the spot, however, defended their acts as legal.

"We are using the word LIGHT as a brand name not to give people an impression of cigars with low nicotine," Amin quoted a company official as saying to the mobile court. He said the court would look into the legal aspects of the issue and recommend the health ministry for necessary amendments to the anti-tobacco law.

Anti-Tobacco campaigners in capital Dhaka expressed their concern over BAT's, what they said tactics to befool smokers, who usually perceive that the Light brand of the Benson cigars contain low nicotine.

"It doesn't matter whether it's a brand name or a deliberate company attempt to mislead smokers. The word should be removed from BAT cigar packets," said an anti-tobacco campaigner, preferring anonymity.

He also expressed his utter frustration over existing provision of Taka 1,000 fine for violation of the government rules.

The campaigner said authorities have conducted a separate raid in Gazipur factory of Navy brand cigarettes last month and found gross irregularities there, but fined only Taka 2,000 for illegal activities of the private company.

The loopholes and lax provisions of anti-tobacco rules have been encouraging companies to run their businesses unabated, he added.

Bangladesh is one of the leading countries to ban smoking in public places, but the number of smokers are growing, mostly youngsters.

The tobacco companies contribute a big amount of tax to national exchequers, but public health experts say the cost of treatments of tobacco-related diseases overshadows the economic benefits.

Re: [chottala.com] CHINA CARD not Transit Agreement/ guarding Chittagong

Dear editor

please print this write up in your yahoo group.

Thanks.

AB

-----------------------

Dear Readers:

I found the following comment by a scholar very relevant to the quaries of the Chottola readers as to why Hasina was so generous with India to give Chittagong and Khulna port for use without anything in exchange:

It says "Hasina is neither naive or complacent - they are achieving exactly what their agenda is - move away from Muslim orbit and become servile to India. Why so? That way they can get their own security from India and probably permanence in power without doing any hard work (because sticking to power will need competence in a democratic system). And moving to anti-Muslim front matches so well for the brainwashed group that it does not need any explanation."

I know like other leaders Hasina is also a power hungry person. Do you remember she even made an alliance with Khalafat party? Another leader Tarek wanted an alliance with Ershad, alledged to be his father's killer. Some other times even good leaders make mistakes. The point is we can not always trust our leaders. Those of you who are from Chittagong irrespective of any party affiliation should watch out the developmet on the Indian use of the Chittagong port. This is because India is increasingly becoming powerful and Chittagong is a very strategically important port of the region; we can not afford to see any foul play here. Historically it  used to be known as the Porte De Grande. As you know US and India are closely working together in the region and lately they have been officially propagating with local support that the Rohingyas as the terrorists. Hasina also signed the security measures with India. All India needs in its perception of fighting terrorism is to involve the USA directly and to get involvd indirectly. That way Southern Chittagong could be the Kandahar of Bangladesh. Their involvement will further radicalize the local people. Some people might even use Islam to unite the populac and that is what the enemies desire would be. They will also have easy access to Chittagong Hill Tracts for their future plans. Don't forget, they plan 50 years ahead of what we think today with multiple alternatives.

In the event like this Mohiuddin, Noman, Salauddin Kader and the other Tigres of Chittagong should first take their nonviolent measures and put a check on the fundamentalist involvement.

As a matter of reminder, don't forget; our beloved Chittagong in the past had lost its freedom many times, it was the first gift Mir Kassim gave to the British, before that it went to the Mogh pirates of Arakan after a failed battle fought by Jamal Khan in which Chittagonians were defeated. After this battle began the slave trade that continued for close to three hundred years..Todays Rohingyas were mostly Chittagonian people and people from southern Bengal coastal areas taken as slaves to Arakan by the pirates. To have it back as a part of Bengal, Shaista Khan took the lead also it was take revenge of hin nephew Suja's death; in the war many people lost their lives. It's not that what I said in the above will happen but you can not count on oportunist leaders as people couldn't count on Mir Jaffor or Mir Kasim for their safety.

All we have to do now is to watch out the developments carefully and take both non violent and democratic measures ahead of time to save human lives..

Subject: [chottala.com] CHINA CARD not Transit Agreement

China's subtly growing influence in BD is the trump card BD needs to use in the negotiation. From India's viewpoint, this item is closer to their national security, whereas, transit is an economic issue.

The Indian Northeast had become a hot bed of undesired activities, it could become another Kashmir for India as soon as China fuels insurgency there - a national security concern. China's recent public comments are surely scary for India, and others in the region as well. Such comments include something like - 'how insurgents could break up India';'Arunchal Pradesh' being a part of Tibet (and Tibet being a part of .....); to name a few. These comments should be taken seriously because:

1. China could covertly assist the clandestine activities of the insurgents as most of the impacted regions borders with China. (They could had been assisting the insurgency in the past through 3rd countries to create just enough trouble to stifle economic development without creating an all out upheaval. Such stifling works to the best economic interest of China).
2. Most of India's rivers originates in China.....And China could hold back water to India (and BD). This holding back could create havoc and disaster to all the downstream countries.

Therefore, on item 2 India & BD along with others will need to become equal partners and start making enough noise and PR. On item 1 however, BD had already given India a priced possession - ULFA leader. It is India turn now to take advantage of the moment and move BD away from China's influence with deeds not words! BD should frame future Transit negotiations on the premise of Indian national security NOT economics. Such framing will likely put India in a position to act like an elder brother than a Big brother!!

There is a proverb Morning shows the day.

Really the people of
Bangladesh are being made fools by BAL leaders & BAL politic doers...

It is being observed that the Leaders of BAL Party political activists of BAL party, supporters of BAL Party even the Ministers of BAL Government Administration are blind & expert to supporting India in talking for India & in working for India.

It seems that they have no any feeling for the people of Bangladesh & they have no little Idea what does mean by the meaning of independent & what does get bad effect on Independent by giving transit to India

Their motive is that Independent of Bangladesh means supporting to India speaking for India  writing for India working for India  & creating environment in Bangladesh  by depending in all respect on India to make Bangladesh the market of Indian goods for the people of Bangladesh.

Those people who are doing so are real freedom frighters are real BAL & others who say any thing in favor of Bangladesh or Independent of Bangladesh they must be rajakars or Jamati or BNP.
