idle, why don't you go to court. You have all the right to seek
justice. We are with you.

So, don't try to make story , we are still alive, we also know the truth
what is what. who is criminal and who is not.

[chottala.com] Jamaat Leaders to be Kept in Custody, Where is Tofael?

This is indeed great news for shoytan sayeed aslam. If any of the defendants committed any autrocities or war crimes or treasons, let justice prevail.

On the same token, Seikh Mujib formed BAKSAL in the perliament in 15 minutes ruling and ousted then president of the country, Muhammad Ullah. Seikh Mujib proclaimed presidency in the mockery of the perliament in just 15 minutes and changed the constitution.

BAKSAL & RakhiBahini committed many killings, 40,000 political activists were killed without any trial or tribunal. Those who were part of the machine of killings committed crime against humanity. No one is immune from the rule of law. Many Awami Presidium member were part of the BAKSAL killing machine including Tofael Ahmed, Sajeda Chowdhury, Motiya, Seikh Selim, they should all stand trial and face justice.

The famine of 1974 also caused many lives, millions people died and displaced from their land. Those who involved in corruption and looting of state treasury, those who were accomplice of widespread looting, including Mujib's sons & daughters should stand trial.

What Awami League and BAKSAL did they ought to face justice in the land of Bangladesh.

Jamaat Leaders to be Kept in Custody
Tuesday, 03 August 2010

In its second ruling on Monday, the International Crimes Tribunal ordered four top leaders of the fundamentalist Jamaat-e-Islami to be held in custody until further orders. UPDATES

Jamaat chief Matiur Rahman Nizami, secretary general Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed, assistant secretary general Muhammad Kamaruzzaman and Abdul Quader Molla were sent back to Dhaka Central Jail after a brief hearing that lasted barely 15 minutes.

The hearing ended at around 10:45am on Monday with the judges sending the quartet off to jail after taking their attendance.

The tribunal also asked authorities to keep them arrested and adjourned the hearing without specifying a date for the next hearing.

The four have been charged with crimes against humanity during nation's war of independence in 1971.

The hearing started minutes after the quartet was produced before the court in the hearing chamber around 10:30am.

Around 9:55am, the Jamaat leaders were brought in from the jail under tight security in a police van. which was surrounded on all sides by six pick-up vans.

Tough security measures were taken in and around the court premises as well.

Additionally RAB and police forces, plainclothesmen were also on duty. Close circuit cameras and archways were set up all through the court premises.

The men were taken to the court's custody chamber at 9:58am.

Justices ATM Fazle Kabir, Md Nizamul Huq and AKM Zahir Ahmed were already present at the court.

Earlier, Dhaka Central Jail authorities said that the suspects will be produced before the court at 10am on Monday.

This tribunal, on July 26 ordered the quartet to be produced before it on Monday (Aug 2) after hearing a petition pleading to show the Jamaat leaders arrested in a case that charged them with crimes against humanity during the war in 1971.

Tough security measures were taken in and around the court premises. Beside RAB and police forces, plainclothesmen were also on duty.

In his ruling on Monday, the tribunal chairman said that the suspected men had been brought before the tribunal following his previous orders. "The suspected persons are now present in the dock, "he said.

He said that he had seen the report of the investigation officer who stated that "the warrant of arrest could not be executed on the four suspected persons as they were already in prison in relation to different cases".

The tribunal chairman then ordered the "suspected persons be sent back to prison" to await further orders from the court. Prior to the order, advocates Tajul Islam and Jaynul Abedin tried to make an application to the tribunal on behalf of the four defendants.

The lawyer said that he had three applications – an application seeking the execution of the letter of authority, an application seeking certified copies of the complaint against them and other orders passed by the tribunal, and an application praying for a recall of the warrant of arrest.

The tribunal chief, however, stated that before making any application, it must be lodged with the registrar. "We have some procedures in this court," he said.

In order to make an application, the defence lawyer must first serve it on the prosecutors, then file it with the registrar who will then pass it to the tribunal to set a date for hearing.

Barrister Muhammad Nazibur Rahman, representing the defendants, told bdnews24.com that the lawyers did not yet have copies of any documents.

Tribunal registrar Mohammed Shahinur Islam explained to bdnews24.com that at the last hearing the court had ordered that the arrestees should be given a copy of the arrest warrant and the complaint made against them. "But because the warrant of arrest could not be executed as the men were in jail, this was not possible."

After the court session ended, Abedin told reporters that they had submitted power of attorneys' on behalf of the four leaders and that the court had accepted it.

After the four men had been sent back to jail, Mofidul Huq, a trustee of the Liberation War Museum, told bdnews24.com that "this was a great scene for everyone. The four prime men accused of committing crimes against humanity were seen in the dock. These men saw how justice will operate.

"For the whole nation, though this was a short session, it has great significance (and) not only for Bangladesh but the rest of the world."

More than 20 lawyers, including Golam Mohammad Chowdhury Alal, Jashim Uddin Sarker, Ferdous Akhter Wahida, and Farid Uddin Khan, were present on behalf of the Jamaat quartet.

War crime prosecutor panel chief Golam Arif Tipu and prosecution panel members, Sayed Rezaur Rahman, Sayed Haidar Ali, Ziad Al Malum, Abdur Rahman Hawlader, and Altaf Hossain were also present at the court.

Additional attorney generals MK Rahman, Murad Reza, Mamtaz Uddin Fakir and senior lawyer Yusuf Hossain Humayun were also present on behalf of the government.

A number of demonstrators from 'Amra Muktijoddhar Sontan' (We are children of freedom fighters) demonstrated at the entrance of the court when the four Jamaat leaders, charged with committing crimes against humanity during the liberation war in 1971, were being brought in.

The demonstrators were chanting angry slogans against the fundamentalist political party, demanding exemplary punishment.

Nizami, Mojaheed, Kamaruzzaman and Molla have several other cases against them including one involving the murder of freedom fighters, which was filed against them in the capital's Pallabi and Keraniganj police stations.

The long-awaited trial of war criminals started on Mar 25 when the Awami League-led government established a war crimes tribunal, prosecutors' panel and investigation agency.

The Mossad's secret wars

The Mossad has built itself a formidable reputation for killing enemies of Israel [AFP]

For more than half a century, the Mossad has been blamed for numerous killings around the world, and is often at the centre of conspiracy theories, including those surrounding the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the 1998 Lockerbie bombing and the 911 attacks in the US.

While some of its actions have been celebrated within Israel, the organisation has at times come under criticism for disrespecting the sovereignty of other nations and has been accused of violating international law.

The Mossad was established in 1951 by David Ben-Gurion, the then prime minister of newly-formed Israel, who set out that the intelligence apparatus would provide the "first line of defence" at a time when Israel, he said, was "under siege by its enemies".

It eventually adopted a verse from the Book of Proverbs: "Without guidance do a people fall, and deliverance is in a multitude of counsellors" as both a motto and a warning to its enemies.

While the secretive organisation forms one of three intelligence entities - Shin Bet (internal security) and military intelligence are the other two - its director reports directly to the prime minister.

Sovereignty violations

David Ben-Gurion called the Mossad Israel's first line of defence
Mossad has built itself a formidable reputation, not only through suspected assassinations but also successful rescue operations and intelligence missions, such as the freeing of 100 hostages at Entebbe airport in Uganda in 1976.

The first notable victory came in 1960, when its agents kidnapped Adolf Eichmann, a Nazi war criminal living in Argentina, who was then smuggled into Israel where he was tried and executed two years later.

While Eichmann's capture propelled Ben-Gurion to receive a standing ovation in Israel's Knesset, Argentina complained to the United Nations that its sovereignty had been violated.

Subsequently the UN Security Council passed a resolution saying that such acts, if repeated, could endanger international peace and security.

But such acts were repeated and the UN Security Council's resolution could not prevent Israeli intelligence agents from operating on foreign soil again.

Operation Wrath of God

During the 1970s, Mossad agents assassinated a number of people said to be connected with the Black September group, which had killed 11 Israeli athletes and a coach at the 1972 Munich Olympic games.

The so-called Operation Wrath of God, which aimed to hunt down those responsible for the attacks, began with the killing of Wael Zwaiter, a Palestinian translator living in Rome, whom Israel accused of being a Black September commander.

Although his supporters say he was an intellectual with no conclusive links to the Black September group, Zwaiter was shot dead by agents as he walked home late on the evening of October 16, 1972.

Mahmoud Hamshari, who Israel said was the head of Black September in France, was killed by a bomb that was detonated after he picked up the phone in his Paris apartment in December 1972.

Nearly one year later Israeli agents targeted Ahmed Bouchiki, a Moroccan waiter working in Lillehammer, Norway, who Mossad had confused with Ali Hassan Salameh, one of the Black September leaders.

He was shot dead in front of his pregnant wife as they emerged from a cinema on July 21, 1973.

When the Mossad agents tried to leave the country, six of them were arrested and sentenced to prison terms in Norway.

Ali Hassan Salameh was eventually tracked down by the organisation and killed by a car bomb in Beirut, Lebanon in January 1979, which reportedly killed eight other people.

Palestinians have always claimed, however, that many of those assassinated in Operation Wrath of God were not involved with Black September and were instead advocates of dialogue with Israel.

'Ambiguity'

Nevertheless, the Mossad continued to carry out high-profile assassinations, including the killing of Abu Jihad, the PLO military chief in Tunisia in 1988, and Fathi Shaqaqi, an Islamic Jihad leader in Malta in 1995.

Due to its secretive nature and policy of "ambiguity", it has not admitted to a number of operations believed by many to have been carried out by its agents.

Gerald Bull, a Canadian scientist who developed the "Super Gun" for Iraq, is commonly believed to have been killed by the Mossad at his Brussels apartment in March 1990.

In 1996, Yahya Ayyash, a Hamas bomb-maker known as "The Engineer", was killed in the Gaza Strip by a booby-trapped mobile phone in an operation also attributed to the spy agency.

In September 2004, Syria blamed Mossad for the death of Izz El-Deen Sheikh Khalil, a member of Hamas, who was killed in a booby-trapped car in Damascus.

Failures

Meshaal survived the Mossad assassination attempt and is currently in Syria [AFP]
But Mossad's brilliant successes are also balanced out by its embarrassing failures.

In 1954, Israeli agents in Egypt planted bombs in cinemas, trendy cafés, and US-owned installation  where foreigners were known to frequent. The hope had been that the violence would undermine the government of Gamal Abdel Nasser and stall the withdrawal of British troops from the Sinai.

But the Egyptians got wind of the plot and arrested many Israeli agents, leading to the eventual resignation of Pinhas Lavon, the then Israeli defence minister. The operation - and debacle - came to be called the Lavon Affair.

On September 24, 1997, two Mossad operatives carrying Canadian passports entered Jordan under orders from Binyamin Netanyahu, the then Israeli prime minister, to assassinate Khaled Meshaal, the Hamas political leader.

The two agents were caught after injecting poison into Meshaal's ear the next day. A furious King Hussein at the time demanded that Israel hand over the antidote and the three-year peace treaty with Jordan looked set to unravel.

After US intervention, Netanyahu apologised to the Jordanian king, handed over the antidote and released Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, another key Hamas leader, in exchange for the two Mossad agents in Jordanian custody.

The botched attempt became the Mossad's most high-profile failure: Relations with Canada were strained once it was learned its passports were used in the operation; the US was displeased with the apparent setback in peace talks, and Israel was forced to release a wanted Hamas leader it would later assassinate in 2004.

In a 2008 interview with Al JazeeraDanny Yatom, the head of the Mossad in 1997, defended his decision to assassinate Meshaal.

Meshaal continues to lead Hamas from Damascus, Syria.

The Mossad is now again under scrutiny over its alleged role in the killing of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, a senior Hamas figure found dead in a Dubai hotel in January this year.

Its alleged use of British and other European passports has strained ties with London, Paris, Dublin and Berlin.

Smuggling Jews

The Mossad is involved in non-military operations as well. In 1938, a precursor to the modern organisation began smuggling Jews into Palestine, in violation of the British mandate there.

According to the Mossad website, the organisation "brings Jews home from countries were official Aliya agencies are not allowed to operate". In 1992, the Mossad evacuated hundreds of Bosnian Jews from besieged Sarajevo.

The current head of the Mossad is Meir Dagan, a former commander of a commando unit, who served in the Israeli army during the 1967 and 1973 wars, and in the invasion of Lebanon in 1982.

[chottala.com] Sayedee to be produced before tribunal Aug 10

Sayedee to be produced before tribunal Aug 10

The International Crimes Tribunal on Wednesday asked the authorities concerned to produce Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Delwar Hossain Sayedee before it on August 10 in connection with 1971 genocide.

The three-member tribunal headed by Justice Nizanul Huq passed the order as the prosecution on August 2 submitted the second complaint case against Sayedee, another detained Jamaat leader, for committing genocide during the Liberation War in 1971.

The crimes tribunal also fixed August 10 to hold the hearing on the petition filed by the prosecution seeking its direction to issue arrest warrant against Sayedee.

The tribunal also hold hearing on the six petitions filed by the lawyers for four other top Jamaat big shots on August 10.

In their first move on August 2, the defence filed three petitions before the tribunal and prayed for withdrawal of the arrest warrants against Jamaat Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami, its Secretary General Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mojahid, and two Senior Assistant Secretaries General Muhammad Kamaruzzaman and Abdul Quader Molla.

They also sought certified copies of the prosecution's complaint petition, all order sheets and relevant documents.

The defence filed the remaining three petitions before the tribunal on August 3.

One petition was filed seeking stay of the proceedings of the tribunal, another for releasing the detained four Jamaat big wigs from custody while the other for sending back the records of the two cases--one filed with Pallabi Police Station and another in Keraniganj against the four -- to the court concerned which a Dhaka court said it has already sent those to the crimes tribunal.

The war crimes prosecution filed the case against Sayedee under the International Crimes Tribunal Act.

In the case, the prosecution charged Sayedee with committing genocide and crimes against humanity and peace during the Liberation War in 1971.

Earlier, on August 2, the tribunal in its first ruling ordered to keep the four detained top Jamaat leaders--Nizami, Mojahid, Kamaruzzaman and Molla--in jail in connection with war crimes during the 1971 Liberation War.

The war crimes prosecution filed the case on July 25 under the International Crimes Tribunal Act, and prayed for arrest warrants against the four.

The tribunal on July 26 issued arrest warrants against the four Jamaat leaders. But later, it received a police report that the order could not be executed, as the four were already in prison in different cases.

On July 29, the court directed the prison authorities to produce the Jamaat leaders before it on August 2.

Justices ATM Fazle Kabir and AKM Zaheer Ahmed are the other two members of the tribunal.

[chottala.com] Saudi ban on BlackBerry from Friday

Saudi Arabia's telecom regulator has ordered mobile operators to halt BlackBerry services from August 6.

The Saudi state news agency SPA in a report on Tuesday said that the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) asked "Saudi Telecom Co, Mobily and Zain Saudi Arabia to immediately stop the BlackBerry service in the country starting Friday.

SPA said the suspension of service was being implemented because BlackBerry service "in its present state does not meet regulatory requirements".

"CITC has informed the three mobile telecommunications providers more than a year ago of the need to quickly fulfil with the manufacturer of BlackBerry handsets the required regulatory requirements," it added.

Security concerns

Sources from the state-controlled Saudi Telecom, which is the kingdom's biggest telecom operator by market share, said the ban on Blackberry Messenger was due mainly to security concerns.

Saudi Arabia has about 700,000 BlackBerry users of which some 80 per cent are individual users.

The device is a big success, especially among youths who use its Messenger function to interact with members of the opposite sex and exchange jokes and pictures in a deeply conservative society.

The United Arab Emirates also threatened on Sunday to ban some BlackBerry services unless its maker, Research in Motion (RIM), gives it access to encrypted messages.

India is also in talks with RIM over how information is managed on the devices. Like the UAE, it has cited security concerns in pushing for greater access to encrypted information sent by the phones that gets routed through the Canadian company's computers overseas.
