Dear Community Members:

Greetings to all from "EKTARA".

As a social and cultural organization, we always thrive to portray the uniqueness of Bangladeshi culture and heritage to the expatriates of Bangladesh residing in the D.C. metro area. We want to engage the young Bangladeshi-Americans in appreciating the rich cultural heritage that the great motherland of ours has to offer.

We have exactly done so in the past through multiple successful productions comprising of traditional Bangladeshi music, dances, live dramas, musicals, fashion shows and comedy skits.

Over the past 8 years, our sold-out productions have been staged at George Mason University, Arlington County Public Schools and Alexandria City Public Schools in Virginia.  These shows were attended by a record number of Bangladeshi-Americans.  Few of our most notable productions were -"Probashi ITTADI" in 2004, "Ektara" in 2007 and "BIOSCOPE" in 2010.

"হৃদয়ে বাংলার সুর" is our slogan. And to spread this sweet melody of Bangladeshi culture that is deeply embedded in different genres of Bangladeshi heritage, one of which is folk, we are proudly announcing an unprecedented cultural event to celebrate the uniqueness of rich Bangladeshi folk culture.

We welcome you all to the "EKTARA Folk Festival 2011" featuring the musical drama "Mohajoner Nao". This folk festival will be held on Saturday, 24 September 2011 at West Springfield High School in Springfield, VA. For more info, please visit- www.ektara.info

In the feature presentation "Mohajoner Nao", we will celebrate the life and songs of "Baul Somrat" Shah Abdul Karim (1916-2009). "Mohajoner Nao" is based on the bard's mystical journey into the world of baul music. It is written by renowned documentary film maker and media personality Shakoor Majid.

Our heartfelt thank you to all of you for the continued support and encouragement you have given us.

We invite you all to "EKTARA Folk Festival 2011". Please see the attached flyer.

Warmest regards,
