[chottala.com] Pakistan may collapse in six months: Collapse of America soon?

Pakistan is not the only country exporting terrorism, India is also responsible for the same crime for the longest time.

Sri Lanka, the mayhem caused in Sri Lanka by Indian coveted operation & cohort Tamil Tigers are well funded by Indians. India defintely has a vested interested to see its neighbor collapse. Thats give India greater leverage and exert it political manuver. A weaken Pakistan definitely work for India's tactical benefit. LTTE being beaten by Sri Lankan Army, India defintely playing in the shore of Bangladesh. Using Bangladesh as its vast second hand market for 460 million dollar export, greatly benefit India.

India definitely eyeing for the next super power, stealing a page from Zionist playbook. India successfully subotaged Pakistan with mired terrorism. Dictator Ziaul Haq damaged Pakistan with Ronald Regan. Though this unholy alliance able to vanquish Socialism, Pakistan lost the gambit. Diaspora of Indians able to pave the way for India, cazoling with Israel & US.

Strategically Pakistan failed to gain Washington's favorite orphan, India filled the gap to counter rising Chinese influence.

The world is shifting, we are going through the most extra-ordinary period of the history. Unpredictable as it could be, within next few decades, we will witness the collapse of another super power. Maybe ending of one is the begining of others. Socialist Soviet Union took 70 years before it collapsed, America may take another 50 years before the power shift. It may not be emminent, but, the tectonic shift is in the process, to be continued...

Where Pakistan or the Pakistanis are getting the instructions on terrorism from? It is the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet of Islam. He killed people with his own hand, as they did not believe in him. Though the People of the Book, he not only killed the Jews, he also turned their women into his sex slaves.

The Quran testifies to the above facts. So, if the Muslims are following the Quran and Sunnah of the Prophet, should we blame them? I do not call them a cancer, rather I believe they are the victims of Islam!

If we want to live in a peaceful world, then we must destroy the Quran and the Hadiths that induce Muslims to violence for the sake of Allah. Otherwise, we should expect no peace on earth.

Mr. Salahuddin Ayubi,  I would be agreeing with you if this was not Pakistan but in case of Pakistan rest of the world especially our sub continent cannot sit at leisure in the sideline and let Taliban and other Islamic militants take control of nuclear warhead.

A huge population of Pakistan converted into radical Islam in last 30 years where criminals like Mullah Omar or Osama becomes hero of a lifetime. Where mosque and other Islamic institution been randomly used as training ground for exporting militant Islam in not just in South Asia but to the rest of the world.

Pakistan predictably supposes to be domed anyway because of its creation on the basis of falls presumption of two-nation theory based on religion. There is no God but Allah but the merciful has no reason to mercy on Pakistan . If they are not going to be go astray for any other reason they must for killing millions of people of Bangladesh , raping thousands of women, looting and burning village after village in then East Pakistan . If there is one who is the supreme then he must do the justice and ruin Pakistan as he ruined Nomrud and other nation.

People of Pakistan must do something if they want to save their nation from confirm ruination. They must do Taoba for all the wrongdoing they have done and start sensible comeback from making Pakistan further radical. Pakistan must beg for forgiveness going into its knees to Bangladesh , Poshtuns, Pathans and others whom they caused misery. They must do everything to destroy militancy by any means.

Pakistan has no right to exist as a nation if they continue to export terrorism around the world especially to our subcontinent. International community has rights and obligation to stop Pakistan being overtaken by Osama Bin Ladens radical un-Islamic Taliban militancy.

Shamim Chowdhury

‘Pakistan may collapse in six months’
United News of Bangladesh . Dhaka
The Pakistani state could collapse within six months if immediate steps
are not taken to remedy the situation, warned a top adviser to the US
Central Command in an interview with Washington Post.
David Kilcullen, who advises CENTCOM commander General David H
Petraeus on the war on terror, urged US policy makers to focus their
attention on Pakistan as a failure there could have devastating
consequences for the entire international community.
In the interview published in Washington Post on Sunday,
Kilcullen, who is credited with the success of the US troop surge
strategy in Iraq, warned that if Pakistan went out of control, it would
‘dwarf’ all the crises in the world today.
‘Pakistan…hands down. No doubt,’ he said when asked
to name the central front in the war against terror.
Asked to explain why he thought Pakistan was so important,
Kilcullen said: ‘Pakistan has 173 million people, 100 nuclear
weapons, an army bigger than the US Army, and al-Qaeda headquarters
sitting right there in the two-thirds of the country that the government
doesn’t control.’
He claimed that the Pakistani military, police and intelligence
service did not follow the civilian government; they were essentially a
rogue state within a state. ‘Were now reaching the point where
within one to six months we could see the collapse of the Pakistani
state, also because of the global financial crisis, which just
exacerbates all these problems,’ he said.
‘The collapse of Pakistan, al-Qaeda acquiring nuclear
weapons, an extremist takeover â€" that would dwarf everything
we’ve seen in the war on terror today.’ Kilcullen, an
Australian anthropologist who advises governments on Muslim militancy
throughout the West, disagreed with the suggestion that it was important
to kill or capture Osama bin laden.
He discussed two possible scenarios for catching the al-Qaeda
leader. Scenario one is, American commandos shoot their way into some
valley in Pakistan and kill bin Laden. This, Kilcullen said, would not
end the war on terror and would make bin Laden a martyr. The second
scenario: a tribal raiding party captures bin Laden, puts him on
television and says, ‘You are a traitor to Islam and you have
killed more Muslims than you have killed infidels, and we’re now
going to deal with you.’
They could either then try and execute the guy in accordance
with their own laws or hand him over to the International Criminal
Court. ‘If that happened, that would be the end of the al-Qaeda
myth,’ said Kilcullen.
He said that three lessons learned in Iraq could also apply to
Afghanistan. The first one is to protect the population. ‘Unless
people feel safe, they won’t be willing to engage in unarmed
politics,’ he argued.
The second lesson is to focus on getting the population on
America’s side and making them self-defending. And then a third
lesson is to make a long-term commitment.
Kilcullen said that the Obama administration’ s policy
of reaching out to moderate elements of the Taliban also had several
pitfalls. ‘If the Taliban sees that we’re negotiating for
a stay of execution or to stave off defeat, that’s going to
harden their resolve,’ he warns. ‘I’m all for
negotiating, but I think the chances of achieving a mass wave of people
turning against the Taliban are somewhat lower in Afghanistan than they
were in Iraq.’

[chottala.com] Pakistan ISI still linked to militants, says US

Pakistan ISI still linked to militants, says US

Sat, Mar 28th, 2009 10:36 am BdST

Washington, Mar 28 (bdnews24.com/Reuters) - The United States has indications that elements of Pakistan's ISI military intelligence agency provide support to Taliban or al Qaeda militants, senior U.S. military officers said on Friday.

Navy Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Army General David Petraeus, head of U.S. Central Command, said the agency must end such activities.

The officers made their remarks as the United States unveiled a new strategy for Afghanistan and Pakistan, which promises more aid for Pakistan but seeks increased cooperation in the fight against al Qaeda and Taliban militants in return.

Mullen noted Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence service had links to militants on both its western border with Afghanistan and its eastern border with India.

"Fundamentally, the strategic approach with the ISI must change and their support ... for militants, actually on both borders, has to fundamentally shift," he told CNN television's "Situation Room" program.

Asked if there were still elements within the ISI who sympathized with or supported al Qaeda and the Taliban, Mullen said: "There are certainly indications that that's the case."

Although links between the ISI and Islamist militants are widely suspected, it is rare for senior U.S. officials to talk publicly about them, for fear of damaging possible cooperation with Pakistani authorities.

The New York Times, citing anonymous U.S. officials, reported on Wednesday that the Taliban's widening campaign in southern Afghanistan was made possible in part by direct support from ISI operatives.

A senior U.S. intelligence official, asked on Friday to describe the problem of ISI information-sharing with militants, said, "too big, too often."

He said Pakistan had in the past failed to act on "actionable intelligence" that could lead to a strike against militants.

U.S. FUNDING IN 1980S

Petraeus, speaking on PBS television's Newshour program, noted some militant groups had been established by the ISI, with U.S. funding, with the aim of helping drive Soviet forces out of Afghanistan in the 1980s.

"Those links were very strong and some of them, I think, unquestionably ... do remain, to this day. It is much more difficult to tell at what level those links are still established," he said.

Petraeus said there were some cases "in the fairly recent past" in which the ISI appeared to have warned militants that their location had been discovered.

"It's a topic that is of enormous importance, because if there are links and if those continue and if it undermines the (anti-militant) operations, obviously that would be very damaging to the kind of trust that we need to build," he said.

Petraeus' headquarters is responsible for U.S. military operations in a volatile swath of the world which stretches from the Middle East into Central and South Asia.

The intelligence official said the United States and Pakistan viewed militant groups differently, and that Pakistan focused on those it saw as the biggest threats to itself, which meant it overlooked some groups with a higher U.S. priority.

"Our intelligence shows that these groups also threaten them, so we are asking them to be a little bit more enlightened, to rethink their security calculus in a way that we think is consistent with ours," he said.

[chottala.com] Re: [MuktoChinta] MBI Munshi and his ISI/Pakistan defense connection

Dear Engr. Shafique Bhuiyan,

This is a response I wrote to another of my detractors, Engr. Shamim Chowdhury, but I think it applies to your accusations as well but probably in this case even more so. I have made a few changes to my reply so that it fits in with your remarks also -

FROM Engr. Shamim Chowdhury -

Mr. MBI Munshi, you are trying to make your connection with Pakistan Defense Forum very innocent one but it is not. You are not a general member of Pakistan Defense Forum. Pakistan Defiance Forum, which runs by ISI, puts your membership as SENIOR MEMBER. Your involvement and contribution been awarded with the title of a Brigadier Geeral. Why Mr. Munshi? What you have done so good to defend Pakistan defense and its intelligence unit ISI to award you with prestigious rank of Brigadier?

I truly think your contribution on defending Pakistan is extraordinary (LA JAWAB). In less then two years with this forum from March 8th of 2007 your contributed Total Posts stands to 2,364 (TWO THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED AND SIXTY FOUR), (MURHABA ZANAB) One can easily understand how much you care defending Pakistan and defaming its enemies which off course includes Bangladesh.

Your enlistment with Pakistan Defense will go into its second anniversary in SIX more days (March 8th of 2007 to March 8th of 2009). What will be your rank? Are they going to give you the rank of Major General or you will get double promotion and become Lieutenant General for your tireless contribution defend Pakistan defense?

MY REPLY -

I think I can now dispose of the absurdity of your claims. There are hundreds of Indian members of the Pakistan Defence Forum. India has fought 4 wars with Pakistan but not one of these Indians is accused of being an ISI agent or a sympathizer of Pakistan.  Why are these Indian able to represent India on PDF but not a Bangladeshi represent his country on the forum? Many of these Indian members have posted in excess of 6000 posts and have achieved rank of Lt. Gen. on the forum simply on the basis of their posts. The same rules apply to me. I have posted in excess of 2000 posts so I am ranked as Brigadier. There is no favoritism or special consideration here.  I think it exceedingly unfair that Indians can freely participate in this forum and criticize both Pakistan and Bangladesh but a Bangladeshi is unable to defend his country on the forum but is instead criticized for representing his national interest there. I think this shows the narrowness and unsoundness of your allegations.  Most recently the PDF has opened a new section on Bangladesh Defence issues which is a great honour for those who are members of this forum. We are now able to contribute to the forum on issues directly affecting Bangladesh.  If you look carefully at my avatar on the forum you will see it is a picture of the Bangladesh flag which I display with pride. Your accusations against me are therefore baseless and without merit and are probably the ramblings of a quisling of India and their intelligence agency RAW.  It is clear that RAW has now started a propaganda campaign against me and is now engaged in character assassination and dirty tricks to defame and vilify me.

As I have pointed out in my article `The BDR Mutiny – revenge for Padua and Boraibari" the attack on our soldiers in Pilkhana was an Indian operation and planned and executed by RAW. This is the issue that you are not facing but instead you are attacking me on frivolous and meaningless grounds to distract from intelligent discussion on the issues I have raised. The Indians have committed an atrocious and appalling act on Bangladesh and you still are able to defend them. This is a truly sad reflection on your integrity and state of mind.

[chottala.com] US immigrant detentions violate human rights: Amnesty International

See online: The report
USA: Strained Detention System a Virtual Black Hole
IPS
26 March 09 - The U.S. government has failed to uphold international human rights standards in its detention of immigrants and asylum seekers, Amnesty International USA (AIUSA) said in a report released Wednesday.

Marina Litvinsky/IPS, Washington - The report, "Jailed Without Justice: Immigration Detention in the USA," shows that tens of thousands of people languish in U.S. immigration detention facilities every year - including a number of U.S. citizens - without receiving a hearing to determine whether their detention is warranted.

According to the report, in just over a decade, the number of immigrants in detention each day tripled from 10,000 in 1996 to more than 30,000 in 2008. Numbers are likely to increase in 2009.

The people detained include lawful permanent residents, undocumented immigrants, asylum seekers and survivors of torture and human trafficking.

"America should be outraged by the scale of human rights abuses occurring within its own borders," said Larry Cox, executive director of AIUSA. "Officials are locking up thousands of human beings without due process and holding them in a system that is impossible to navigate without the legal equivalent of GPS."

"The United States has long been a country of immigrants, and whether they have been here five years or five generations, their human rights are to be respected. The U.S. government must ensure that every person in immigration detention has a hearing to determine whether that detention is necessary," he said.

The report contends that U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents have been incorrectly subject to mandatory detention and spent months or years behind bars before proving they are not deportable. According to AIUSA's research, at least 117 people have been held in mandatory detention for crimes that were ultimately determined not to be deportable offences.

Even more astounding, in 2007 alone, legal service providers identified 322 individuals in detention who may have been able to claim U.S. citizenship.

Mr. W., a U.S. citizen, was placed in immigration detention in Florence, Arizona. According to the Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project, he was born in Minnesota and had never left the United States in his life. Because he was detained, he did not have access to his birth certificate, and was working in the prison kitchen for a dollar a day to earn the 30 dollars it would cost to order a copy of his birth certificate. Mr. W. was finally released after being detained for over a month.

Others who are lawful residents of the U.S. languish in detention for so long that they choose to go back to countries where they are at risk of being attacked or imprisoned.

L.N., 27, was born in Afghanistan and came to the U.S. with his family as refugees when he was seven years old. He was placed in deportation proceedings and held in mandatory detention because of a drug conviction in 2007. He began urinating blood not long after, and was experiencing constant fatigue, pain and discomfort. He was first seen by a doctor a month and a half later and after nine months, he had yet to receive any diagnosis or treatment.

He told Amnesty International that he is so frustrated and afraid that he is considering giving up his claim of citizenship and going back to Afghanistan in order to obtain medical care.

"When people who may well be citizens of the United States are desperate enough to be deported to countries they don't even know, there clearly is a breakdown of disturbing proportions within the U.S. system of immigration detention," said Sarnata Reynolds, AIUSA's policy director for Refugee and Migrant Rights.

Because under U.S. law, individuals in deportation proceedings may secure counsel, but at no expense to the government, the vast majority of people - 84 percent - in immigration detention do not have a lawyer, and instead represent themselves. According to AIUSA, representation by legal counsel can have a significant impact on the outcome of an individual's case. One study found that individuals are five times more likely to be granted asylum if they are represented.

For many immigrants, release from detention is out of reach because bonds are set impossibly high.

The report states that although immigration judges have the authority in some cases to release immigrants on their own recognizance or with a minimum bond of 1,500 dollars, reports indicate that the judges are now less likely to do so.

According to the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), in 2006, immigration judges in the United States declined to set bond in 14,750 cases. In 2007, the number increased to 22,254, and in the first five months of 2008, immigration judges had already refused to set bond in 21,842 cases.

To house the rapidly increasingly number of detainees, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) increasingly relies on contracts with state and county jails. Approximately 350 facilities hold up to 67 percent of all detained immigrants.

Amnesty International's findings indicate that conditions of detention in many facilities do not meet either international human rights standards or ICE guidelines. Immigration detainees are often detained in jail facilities with barbed wire and cells, alongside those serving time for criminal convictions.

Immigrants are unnecessarily exposed to inappropriate and excessive restraints including handcuffs, belly chains, and leg restraints. Amnesty International received reports that some individuals have been subjected to physical and/or verbal abuse while held in immigration detention, in violation of international standards.

Immigrant detainees also find it difficult to get medical attention. At least 74 immigrants have died in detention during the last five years.

"Conditions in detention centres have been shown over and over again to be in violation of ICE standards and international law, but wholly absent is almost any accountability for these violations," said Reynolds. "Immigration and Customs Enforcement must be held accountable and enact enforceable human rights standards to eliminate inappropriate and dangerous housing conditions."

The AIUSA report, which launches the organisation's campaign to promote and protect the human rights of immigrants, shows that the average cost of locking up an immigrant is 95 dollars per person, per day, or approximately 2,850 dollars per month, funded by taxpayers.

Alternatives to detention programmes, such as such as conditional release, reporting requirements, an affordable bond, or financial deposits, have been shown to be effective and significantly less expensive than holding people in immigration detention. A study of supervised release conducted by the Vera Institute in New York yielded a 91 percent appearance rate at an estimated cost of 12 dollars per person per day.

AIUSA calls on the U.S. government to implement its recommendations which include: ensuring that alternative non-custodial measures are always explicitly considered before resorting to detention; and ensuring the adoption of enforceable human rights detention standards in all detention facilities that house immigration detainees, either through legislation or through the adoption of enforceable policies and procedures by the Department of Homeland Security.

Though ICE has announced the publication of 41 new performance-based detention standards, which will take full effect in all facilities housing ICE detainees by January 2010, AIUSA maintains that "these are still only guidelines, don't ensure compliance with human rights standards, and are not legally enforceable."

"We are reviewing (the report) and are engaged in comprehensive review of detainee health care," Cori Bassett, a public affairs officer at ICE, told IPS. "ICE has made appreciable gains by adopting detention standards," she added, though "the care and treatment (of detainees) does not yet meet our standards of excellence."

"(The Department of Homeland Security) and ICE is committed to measurable and sustainable progress and we pledge to ensure that it occurs," she said.

Before they joined the paramilitary force BDR

At least four of the mutineers of the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) are believed to have been active members of Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) before they joined the paramilitary force.

They all hail from Bagmara of Rajshahi, the stronghold of the Islamist militant outfit JMB, where extremists led by JMB's former operation commander Bangla Bhai, later executed, launched their atrocities.

Anwar, one of the four was well-known cadre of Bangla Bhai. He was allegedly involved in the murder of Awami League (AL) leader Yasin in 2004 in Bagmara.

A team of the 'operation rebel hunt' has recently raided houses of Anwar, Ismail, Kawsar and Aftab but in vain.

The four were present at Pilkhana during the mutiny before they fled and they are still on the lam, said officers engaged in the 'operation rebel hunt'.

"There might be many more like them and we are looking into it", said one of the officers.

The officers said some 10 to 12 rebel soldiers took shelter at Ismail's house at Sakoa village after they fled from Pilkhana on February 26.

The team also picked up a BDR soldier Abdul Barik from Jamloy village for interrogation. Barik was on leave during the mutiny, but he met the fugitive mutineers at Ismail's house.

During a visit to Bagmara yesterday, the JMB torture victims and villagers expressed their astonishment at the enrolment of the four as BDR soldiers despite being cadres of JMB.

JMB men beat up AL publicity secretary of Maria union Yasin Ali Mridha and later hung him upside down from a tree on Kudapara Ahadia Dakhil Madrassah premises before killing him on June 30, 2004.

Kawsar's father Abdur Rahman, a member of Maria union parishad, claimed that his son is innocent.

When contacted Superintendent of Police of Rajshahi M Shahabuddin Khan said he was unaware how those militants obtained police clearance for joining BDR. "I was not in Rajshahi then; I will have to investigate the matter," he added.

        Munshi sahib,

Could you post a link for the existing thread that the 'Indian proxy war in Sri Lanka' needs to be merged with?

Lol u guys still trust the government. Thats good. Because I certainly have no hope in our government. Whatever has to be done has to be done by us: the people. The politicians are there for their own benefit.

Weall have to unite under one banner and fight this information war face to face look into their eyes and be ready for their games. We are all Pakistanis and if an Indian is trying to spread propaganda it is our duty to protect our homeland. Thats the idea now.

With 60 years of bullshit governance we have lost hope in our government.

I think the main problem for both countries is our weakness in information warfare and propaganda. The Indians are damned good in these areas. There is much we can learn from them.

I agree with you completely. The way they have been able to sell their version and most recently even put the issue of Kashmir off the charts completely proves the power of their information warfare ...

They continue to win diplomatic victory after victory and we continue to dwell in our own stupidity. And it hurts. I love my country and i know what india says about the terrorists being from pakistan is clearly a lie but the powerlessness and weakness and lack of nationalism shown by our people seems to rule everything. The worst ppl r ones who come in power here.

We need nationalists. We need believers in the ideal of pakistani nationalism.

I would say the older generation has too much expectation of the younger one. They seem to be worse than the older one and much less patriotic. They forget their blood and their nation.

I think it has become more upon the people. The government has never done anything useful. If it had then we would be one and have the largest muslim population in the world and would be a power to be reckoned with. If that was done Pakistan would not be bullied by USA and India and Israel and have its people massacred by Indian sponsered terrorism in FATA Balochistan and Swat and Bangladesh would'nt have civilians and BDR men being killed every week by BSF forces and islands being occupied by them.

Hopefully when i get time off a little more i will create a small forum for bangladeshi and pakistani unity. We are brothers. Pakistan-Bangladesh trade is at $350 million. F4 business community best way to increase contact will be increase in trade.

But unity in other fields is most important. We need to stand united against RAW sponsered terror in our nations and raise our voice against it together as we are all major victims. U r an influential person my brother and can make a difference. The nationalist pakistanis r slowly gaining influence and maybe we will be able to affect government policy and direct it.

The sort of policy change needed to however bring people of Bangladesh and Pakistan together can be done by a large grouping of individuals who r powerful and can affect the opinions and thought of people.

Well i suspect ahmedsid may not be muslim at all...

All the pakistanis ain't around cauz its the mumbai drama and the constant propaganda man. It has got us all reallll busy. I was up doing articles on it and stuff and videos and speeches and all. We hated what india did... pure propaganda done by indian hindu terrorists and indian intelligence and blamed on pakistan.

I called on zaid and said i wanted to be in his team but he is not in contact at all. Hes more busy than me ofcourse cauz he has a bigger role. I am just very young and trying to run my own life and along with it be a good pakistani...

In any case Indian terror must be stopped at all costs.

MBI munshi dont lose hope. ahmedsid is actually a hindu terrorist acting like muslim. Ofcourse it is part of their media war to criticize and attack any individual who exposes the murder rape and torture brought to this entire world by indian terror.

Indian terror has to be stopped at all costs and I am glad to have you as a brother in this war against Indian terror and oppression.
