[chottala.com] Fwd:Bangladesh indicts Jamaat-e-Islami four on war crimes

Bangladesh indicts Jamaat-e-Islami four on war crimes
Police arrest Moulana Motiur Rahman Nizami (C), chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, in Dhaka on 29 June 2010 Jamaat leader Motiur Rahman Nizami is among the accused

Bangladesh's war crimes tribunal, which is investigating the country's 1971 liberation struggle against Pakistan, has issued its first arrest warrants.

Court officials told the BBC the war crimes indictments targeted four leaders of Islamist political party Jamaat-e-Islami, already in custody.

The tribunal was set up in March to try people accused of atrocities.

Bangladesh was part of Pakistan until the nine-month war of secession, which left up to three million people dead.

The four accused - Jamaat leader Motiur Rahman Nizami; his deputy Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid; and two other senior leaders, Muhammad Kamaruzzaman and Abdul Quader Mollah - were detained last month on unrelated charges.

A senior court official, Mohammed Shahinur Islam, told the BBC on Monday the four would not be able to apply for bail under Monday's warrants.

Jamaat-e-Islami accuses the government of using war crimes charges to try to curb the opposition party's activities. The next hearing in the case will be on 2 August.

The Awami League-led government set up the war crimes tribunal in March this year to investigate those Bangladeshis who, at the time, collaborated with Pakistani forces - and are accused of killing many civilians.

Tribunal issues arrest warrants

Mon, Jul 26th, 2010 11:49 am BdST
Dhaka, July 25 (bdnews24.com) – The International Crimes Tribunal, on Monday, issued arrest warrants against four Jamaat-e-Islami top leaders.

The warrants were issued against Jamaat-e-Islami chief Matiur Rahman Nizami, secretary general Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed, assistant secretary generals Mohammed Kamaruzzaman and Abdul Quader Molla for crimes against humanity during 1971.

The hearing of the petition to 'show arrested' the already-detained Jamaat-e-Islami leaders for alleged crimes against humanity during the 1971 war started at around 10.30am at the tribunal established in the old High Court building.

Special security measures have been taken for the hearing at the court area.

Earlier on Sunday, the tribunal was petitioned to 'show arrested' the Jamaat-e-Islami leaders. The prosecution panel's chief Golam Arif Tipu submitted the petition to the tribunal's registrar Mohammed Shahinur Islam at around 10.30am on Sunday.

The petition, citing Section 3(2) of the International Crimes Tribunal Act of 1973, was submitted in order to allow investigation into the crimes. The section refers to crimes like murder, rape, looting and arson.

Speaking at a briefing, in his own office at the tribunal, following the filing of the petition, Tipu had said, "The petition was filed so that these four men cannot escape or create any obstacle to the investigation."

He also said that the tribunal will set the date for the petition's hearing.

Responding to a query, Tipu said, "We are not worried about the Pallabi and Keraniganj freedom fighter murder cases. Our chief focus lies on the crimes against humanity during 1971."

Other prosecution panel members were present during the briefing.

The four Jamaat-e-Islami top tiers have recently been apprehended by the police. They have a number of cases against them including charges, at Keraniganj and Mirpur police station, of killing freedom fighters.

The long-awaited trials of the crimes against humanity, mass murders and war crimes started after the Awami League-led coalition government started formation of the tribunal along with the investigation body and the prosecution panel on Mar 25.

---------- Forwarded Message ----------
Date: Sun, 25 Jul 2010 11:41:45 -0700 (PDT)

Dear All:

Syed Aslam, fake name of a person who started sending emails in other fake names, Gungadina and Gungadina3 from New York in 2001. This gentleman is a diehard BALIST who spent his life in Pakistan before migrating to the USA after marrying an immigrant girl three decades ago.
He tried many careers to build his life from Pizza deliveryman to apartment owner for about two decades but became successful in making millions of dollars after 2005 in doing loan officer for real estate business at the cost of dishonesty and violating laws. After laundering money to Bangladesh and transferring to his sibling accounts he closed his "loan officer" business just before the government crackdown.

Currently, no body knows his whereabouts except a few leaders of the Bangladesh Awami League in the USA, begali web-media and siblings to keep himself safe from any investigation. A former Madrasha student in Pakistan he knows a lot about Islam and Pakistan other than his motherland Bangladesh and Awani League.

Although he knows how to defend Islam and Palestine issues against Israeli actions but often compromises his religious faith (Islam) when Awami League, Bangladesh, India, RAW and Jamat-e-Islam come into question. He surrenders his ideology when "India and RAW" become part of discussion in any form either nationally or internationally.

He tries take shelter under Indian umbrella to keep himself safe from any problem for his misdeeds.

That's much today as a lot of facts or evidences can be laid down about this mysterious person and are kept reserved now for future.

Best friend

[chottala.com] Mr Aslam Gaddare Azam: Golam Azam speaks up!‏

Yes dina khan you are right.

Let me add further more. Though our maximum politicians use to tell before their elections they can sacrifice their everything for the sake of the people as they have nothing to ask any more as they lost everything but actually they used to bluff and cheat our people.

They further used to indicate by their gestures and postures they are for the people by the people of the people. But later on it was found by hook or by crook though they used to capture and occupy everything by making the people fool. Actually they were not for the people, of the people or by the people rather later on it was found these sorts of politicians were automatically finished in course of time.

Here in this column I used to read your article attentively as because there are some gists in it in a concised way and to the point in comparison to who are writing so many lengthy versions with proof and with so many links to justify their arguments.

Why to  repeat similar things, almost all the times instead of creating interests, creating bore. When the case is in the court is there any justifications to place so many proof and arguments repeatedly in this column.

Regards,

Dowllah.

Mr. Dowllah.

Real fact is that politicians in Bangladesh are quality less & idea less. They have no any creative educational knowledge for getting creative idea to make good policy, not have knowing tendency of historical & geographical background not have real ideological principles for building good nation.

Most of them are monkey type (called secular type) politicians. Brain of them is working for money & power.

Media people are also not working for publishing the real news but they are working for creating news as required to create situation & atmospheres in favor the political power want.

The present BAL politicians are seen not the real followers of Bangabundhu Sheik Mujibur Rahaman the founder of Bangladesh.

If you think deeply to know the political life long Ideology of Mr. Mujib & his different speeches at public different meetings after liberation

You will find that Mr. Sheik was really bound due to BAL politician's activities to ban BAL party politics along with other political parties.

He reformed political platform in the name BAKSAL

i)                     for all party politicians to do politics (not only for AL politicians but for all) only to control BAL politicians &

ii)                   for facing the BAL politicians competition with other party politicians in BAKSAL system election,

He banned all news papers only

a)       for controlling the bad people's politics

b)       False media news creating & circulating.

The present BAL politicians know it very well so they are not following Mujib'e reformation system & scared BAKSAL system election policy..They are not real faithfu to MR Mujibur Rahman's political Idealogy. They are fraud monkey( secular) politicians for money & power.

Dear dina khan,

I really appreciate your writing bearing a good intellectual sense. Some of the politically motivated cottar type of misguided people instead of looking after the real welfare of the society made politics a monopolise media propaganda types of business and always tries to put wrong impression about our liberation of Bangladesh to our future generation. They are trying to do everything without following any form of lawful democratic system but only following "might is right" types of policy. A day will be coming again when those people will be recognised and the process will be towards opposite direction. On that day the true history may change their momentum towards the right direction again.

Dowllah.

Mr. siraj uddowllah & Mr. Helal

I am not any political person only reading news for passing time & some time writing my views on reading the news...

It is true.

Bangladesh has elected Government whose responsibility is to rule country according to the rules of constitution & to do trial according to rules of law against of all criminal activities.

If Jamati leaders & other political leaders have done any crime it is the normal lawful duty for the lawful administration to do lawful trialing after proper lawful investigation.

On reading the posting of Mr. Aslam it seems that he is the most directive & guiding director against only jamati politicians not others to give immediate death  sentences according to his

suggestions & he is providing paper cutting proofs which may be his own made or not & not required any further lawful investigation not required any further proof & not required lawful judicial trial proceeding.

Because

According his view

Jamati leaders are not Islamic minded & doing business with the name of Islam

But it seems that

Mr. Aslam is the real Islamic minded & according his under lined commitment it seems also that he knows very well Indian political leaders what think.

Mr Aslam's committments

"I think, only the fools and idiots can have "Akhando Bharat dream" or wishful thinking of "integrating BD to India " at this stage of  the history of South Asia. India has so many headaches that any sensible political groups in India would not espouse such thoughts in their wildest dreams...... The ruling class of India knows very well that they can not sallow sharp edged glass and digest it ...and after all Bangladesh is a land of 150 million freedom loving people"

[chottala.com] Bangladesh ratifies Rome Statute

Bangladesh ratifies Rome Statute
Mon, Mar 22nd, 2010 4:04 pm BdST

Dhaka Mar 22 (bdnews24.com) - The cabinet on Monday ratified the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, which sets international standards for prosecution of individuals who commit crimes against humanity.

"The ratification will prove that Bangladesh is determined to follow international standards to prosecute crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide" the prime minister's press secretary Abul Kalam Azad said.

Bangladesh signed the Rome Statute on July 17, 1998, the first country to do so in South Asia.

The statute, entering into force on 1 July 2002, is the treaty that established the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The ICC's main purpose is to assist the international community in trying the most heinous international crimes: genocide, war crimes, and crimes again humanity. The official seat of the permanent tribunal is in The Hague, Netherlands, but its proceedings may take place anywhere.

But it remains a "court of last resort", leaving the primary responsibility to exercise jurisdiction over alleged criminals to national legal systems. Under this system of 'complementarity', it will only act when national authorities are unable or unwilling to investigate and prosecute crimes.

Asked whether ratification of the statute by Bangladesh would help in the government's upcoming prosecution of 1971 war crimes trials, law minister Shafique Ahmed earlier this week said ratification was necessary for prosecution of future instances of crimes against humanity.

The ICC can only prosecute crimes committed on or after the date it came into force. However, ratification of the statute calls on countries to adopt a number of actions, including bringing their own laws into line with its provisions.

The law minister last week confirmed that Bangladesh's upcoming 1971 war crimes trials would be held under its recently amended International Crimes (Tribunals) Act 1973.

An expert panel of international lawyers, including a former war crimes prosecutor, submitted a legal opinion to the government last month, however, advising further amendments to ensure the 1973 Act meets international standards.

Among other recommendations, the lawyers advise that sections of the Rome Statute dealing with rights of suspects during investigations must be included in the Act.

As of October 2009, 110 states were party to the Rome Statute, and a further 38 states had signed but not ratified the treaty. The US, Sudan and Israel, once signatories, have 'unsigned' the statute.

Aslam it seems that he is the most directive & guiding director against only jamati politicians not others to give immediate death  sentences according to his suggestions & he is providing paper cutting proofs which may be his own made or not & not required any further lawful investigation not required any further proof & not required lawful judicial trial proceeding.

    Because

    According his view

Jamati leaders are not Islamic minded & doing business with the name of Islam

    But it seems that

Mr. Aslam is the real Islamic minded & according his under lined commitment it seems also that he knows very well Indian political leaders what think.

    Mr Aslam's committments

"I think, only the fools and idiots can have "Akhando Bharat dream"

or wishful thinking of "integrating BD to India " at this stage of  the

history of South Asia. India has so many headaches

that any sensible political groups in India would not espouse such

thoughts in their wildest dreams...... The ruling class of India knows

very well that they can not sallow sharp edged glass and digest

it ...and after all Bangladesh is a land of 150 million freedom loving

    people"
