[chottala.com] Husband beating fatwa - Islam Online

Husband beating fatwa
28/10/2008 10:30:00 AM GMT

Two scholars and one renowned Islamic thinker believe wives can beat back their husbands in self defense.

By  Iftikar Al-Bendari, IOL Staff

CAIRO — Two scholars and one renowned Islamic thinker believe wives can beat back their husbands in self defense.

"The wife can use force in self defense to counter her husband's violence," Saudi scholar Abdel-Mohsen Al-Abyakan told IslamOnline.net.

"If the husband hits her she can hit him back and if he tries to kill her she can kill him in self defense if this is the only way to save her life."

Abyakan stressed that a woman must use all other means to defend herself before resorting to counter-violence.

"(She can) talk, scream, seek help from neighbors or call the police or those able to defend her."

Al-Azhar, the highest seat of learning seat in the Sunni world, agrees that women have the right to counter violence in self defense.

"A wife has the legitimate right to hit her husband in self defense," Sheikh Abdel-Hamid Al-Atrash, the head of Al-Azhar's Fatwa committee, was quoted as saying by Egypt's Al-Masri El-Youm daily.

"Every person has the right to self defense, whether that person is a man or a woman...because all humans are equal before God."

  • Martial arts

Turkey's influential Fethullah Gülen has suggested that women should learn martial arts to defend themselves against domestic violence.

"I wish women would take karate, taekwondo or judo courses," Gülen told the  Zaman daily.

"If he hits once, she should hit him twice."

Gülen said Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing be upon him) and his companions never beat their wives.

"It is a violent act to beat one's wife," he said, advising victims of domestic violence to seek divorce.

"Those women, if they don't have kids, should get divorce."

In June, American Foreign Policy magazine unveiled its list of the world's Top 20 Public Intellectuals, with Gülen coming in the first place.

"An Islamic scholar with a global network of millions of followers, Gülen is both revered and reviled in his native Turkey," it said introducing him.

"To members of the Gülen movement, he is an inspirational leader who encourages a life guided by moderate Islamic principles. To his detractors, he represents a threat to Turkey's secular order."

[chottala.com] Killers and traitors of 1971 must never go unpunished !

Jamaat reformed its constitution?

Ms.Nushaiba Abubakar

In your defense for Jamaat, you said:
"What about the voilance and hostility by other party?"

How can one crime justify other crime ?

It is an open secret that Jamaat's 1971 crimes were organized
crimes in the name of Islam and saving Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Lest we forget, Jamaat's  Al-Badar and it killing missions were
"political phenomena" that may repeat under  different lebash,
unless the ordinary masses of Banladesh is constantly on the guard.
Thus, it is an utmost necessity to increase public awareness on
Jamaat's crimes of 1971.

Let everyone know what has hppened in 1971; Jamaat's
anti-people role must always be exposed.

Everyone must know that Jamaat's student wing Islami Chattro Sangha's
hand was tainted with so much of Bangladeshi blood that when it
resurfaced in late 70s, it had a new name Islami Chattro Sibir.

Again, Ms.Nushaiba Abubakar, you must  always
differentiate between the Gestapo killers 1971 like
the Jamaat's Al-bodors wing and ordinary supporters
of Pakistan's integrity. The traitors and the killers should
never go unpunished.

Are you suggesting that 100th rape celebration by a BCL's Jahangir Nagar university leader is any less of a crime than what happen in 1971?
Are you suggesting that Zainal hajarir's torture chamber is any less horrific? Or many atrocities that his personal mafia force have done during BAL regime 1996-2001?
How about Samim Osman and Abul hasnat abdullah's atrocities during BAL regime?
That's why I said "it should be completely a judiciary matter". Only a formal court can sort this out. Criminals should be punished for their crime regardless of which party they are with. Criminals are criminals, no matter which party they are in.
Just because one supports Democratic Party does not make him unpatriotic even though the party opposed Vietnam War. Just because one supports BJI, does not make him unpatriotic even though the party opposed independence. Criminals in anti-war violent protest (supporter of Democratic Party) are criminals. They are criminals because they broke the law, not because they opposed war! Similarly criminals in anti-independent atrocities in Bangladesh are criminals.  They are criminals because they broke the law, not because they opposed independence!
Politicians take sides one way or other all the time. They gain politically if they take the "right" side. They loose politically if they take the "wrong" side. This is a common practice in democratic society.
Do you think Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (the big one) was a traitor because he opposed independent Pakistan? Are you suggesting us to "Hate" him?
Do you think everyone in Kashmir support independent Kashmir? Do we wipe out every one who opposes independent Kashmir if Kashmir (ever) gets independence?
What about other nations that split and got independence? I know some of you are like a frog in a pond who thought his pond is all that is in the universe. But in reality independences are very common phenomenon in the history of human civilization (may be in Dinosaurs' as well, who knows). Every time it happened there were two camp, one those who supported and one those who opposed.
Please stop spreading hate. May be there is very little love in your life, but there is no harm seeking more!

".....non-sense anti-Jamaat patriotism stupidity... ." is a very strong statement aimed at covering up the years of violence against unequipped regular public, not for agreeing with jamat's evil persistence the way they make. A bit we can understand from this statement in quotation by the following jamat supporter.

The reality is that the Jamat did so much violence against non-jamatis  and general public, from the time of their inception (Moududi's rise), and this pile got so bigger that will never get wiped off,  whatever new policy Jamat takes, not even by their sincere and serious efforts and repentances or even by serious tauba.

In the name of religion, they did so much heinous crimes and constantly remained engaged in so much in violence and inhumanity, that must be called for being accountable, rather just go away, like 90 thousand Pakistani killer soldier escaped without any punishments, who were heavily favored and helped by the jamatis also. The character swap is impossible to believe in.

Can we stop this non-sense anti-Jamaat patriotism stupidity? We are a democratic nation (or that's what we claim). If you don't like Jamaat, don't vote for it. Vote for the other guys (I do). Why you have to `wipe out` a party just because you don't like it?

If anyone did any crime (I am sure some of them did, and did a lot), it should be completely a judiciary matter. Why are you jumping up and down? Just file a case against the criminal(s). If court rule, we all will comply with that.

If you keep referring to incidents happened 37 years ago, doesn't it mean these people have been good for all the life of Bangladesh? In fact they were better than you all these years, isn't it? That's why you have to bring in the 37-yer old story even before Bangladesh was born.

I don't care who laved me before I born. I don't care who `did not want me` before I born. I want to know who loved me after I born. I want to know who love me now. That is exactly what Bangladesh wants to know.

If you want to tell me that you love me, start behaving nice to me. If you want to tell Bangladesh that you love her, stop spreading hate, and start behaving a civilized human being. Start working on what is good for her. Start showing respect to her every child i.e. citizen.

And what ever you do, for god sake, stop talking in past sense. Its becoming pathetic. 37 year ago, you may have been a young, hot and cute looking guy. So what? You want me to marry you today for that? Are you kidding me?

Let's move on!.

[chottala.com] Remember Macaca? McCain’s Macaca Moment !!

McCain's Macaca Moment

mccain angry number 55 aa_4ecf9.JPG

In March of 2000, Katie Hong, a Korean-American woman who worked for the Washington state government, wrote an article for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer about Senator John McCain's remark to reporters on his campaign bus.

He said, "I hated the gooks. I will hate them as long as I live."

Although he attempted to explain he was referring specifically to his Vietnamese prison guards while he was a POW – his habitual justification for just about everything he does or says – he refused to apologize for his use of a racially offensive epithet generally regarded as applicable to anyone of Asian background. Ms. Hong was not only hurt by his comment, having committed to serving her country as a place where equal opportunity and justice for everyone regardless of their skin color could become reality, she was disturbed by how little reaction his remark generated from the media.

It is eight years later, and McCain's second run at the White House. In that time, he's dropped numerous F-bombs, called his wife the C-word, and used racially charged language in his campaign to refer to his opponent. There is no reason to believe that his attitude toward "gooks" has changed all that much, either. McCain's unmanageable irritability and use of inappropriate and offensive language has generated serious questions "whether he has the temperament, and the political approach and skills, we want in the next president of the United States."

But a deeper and far more troubling uncertainty concerns me. This particular McCain Macaca Moment is not excusable just because he was a POW, and it's disconcerting that McCain himself is incapable of seeing it, saying, "Do I insult anybody or fly off the handle or anything like that? No, I don't." But far more importantly, this is indicative of a dangerous and intransigent racism that not only offends a large percentage of American citizens – and not all of them need be Asian to be offended – it has no place in a presidency that may well be called upon to negotiate with the aforementioned "gooks", some of whom have nuclear weapons and others who own a good deal of our national debt. To "hate the gooks" is bad enough, but to declare "I will hate them as long as I live" demonstrates a pig-headed obstinacy that is antithetical to anyone aspiring to hold the most influential and powerful office in the country, if not the world.

But just how many more McCain Macaca Moments is it going to take?

A New Gig For 'Macaca': Richardson Staffer

S. R. Sidarth in the Webb senate campaign offices in August of 2006.(AP).

Remember Macaca?

The young man whose handheld video brought down former Virginia Sen. George Allen, has resurfaced in the presidential contest that Allen once hoped to be part of himself.

S.R. Sidarth, the Fairfax student of Indian descent, is now a paid staffer in the communications office of Democratic Presidential hopeful Bill Richardson. He works in Richardson's Santa Fe office compiling daily newspaper articles for the governor, drafting press releases and performing other communication tasks.

Alas, he is not reprising his role as a volunteer "tracker" for the Jim Webb campaign, when he shadowed Allen with a video camera, hoping to catch the Republican in an unguarded moment. It was Allen's dismissive comment about Sidarth --"Say hello to Macaca or whatever his name is"--that helped to doom Allen's reelection bid in 2006.

Sidarth's video was one of the first political video's to "go viral" on the web, forcing Allen to repeatedly apologize and opening the door to other stories questioning his commitment to diversity. Allen lost by a tiny margin to Webb, but the political damage also destroyed a promising shot at the presidency this year.

Sidarth did not reply to a request for an interview sent to his Richardson campaign e-mail.

But Sidarth's presence on the Richardson campaign may be no coincidence.

The New Mexico governor also employs the ad agency Murphy Putnam, whose employee, Philip de Vellis, was the one responsible for the now-famous anti-Hillary Clinton video that spoofed Apple Computer's "1984" ad. The spoof, which was eventually connected to de Vellis, flew across the Internet like wildfire.

Between the two, Richardson has two of the most successful guerrilla warriors when it comes to using video on the Internet. So far, however, neither has found a magic bullet for Richardson, who is still lagging in the polls.

So what does Allen think of the news that Sidarth is involved in the 2008 campaign while he watches from the sideline? Allen traveled from Washington to Tampa this week where he was providing "spin" on behalf of presidential hopeful and former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson.

Told of Sidarth's job, Allen smiled, looked genuinely surprised and said, "Hey."

Then he kept his mouth shut.

[chottala.com] 'Minus-two formula was to minus democracy' - Rashed Khan Menon

Point Counterpoint
Talking Polls and Beyond

Rashed Khan Menon is the president of Worker's Party. He started his political career during student life and was elected vice-president of Dhaka University Central Student's Union. Menon was elected member of parliament twice, in 1979 and 1991, from Barisal. He played an important role in the liberation war in 1971 and in the anti-autocratic movement against H.M. Ershad. Shariful Islam and Suranjith Deabnath took the interview.

Do you have any doubts about the December 18 national elections?
The election must be held on December 18. But, the attitude of the government and the Election Commission has created doubts among the public. The government could not take any effective step to create an atmosphere conducive to holding a free and fair election. We still have to run our political activities indoors under six set conditions. Besides, government advisers, including the chief adviser, are making statements regarding elections that are not clear to anyone. The delimitation issue has not yet been settled. Besides, this is an army-backed government. Though they are saying repeatedly that they have no high ambitions, we know they are trying to establish a control system in Bangladesh. And, for doing that, they are taking various steps which are also creating doubts among the people.

Different political parties are pressing strongly for withdrawal of the state of emergency during polls, but the government wants to hold the election under emergency. What is your view?
If the election is held under the state of emergency it will be questionable. The government is saying that it will relax or suspend the state of emergency, but it has no constitutional right to do that. The government says that it is keeping the state of emergency for curbing corruption, but all corruption suspects have already come out of jails. Tarique Rahman has already gone abroad. Why should the whole country suffer for 180 or 200 people. If the state of emergency is needed to maintain law and order during election, it will be required in all elections in future. Election and state of emergency do not go together. If the EC and the government remain strict in holding a free and fair election it must be free and fair.

You wanted deferral of upazila election.
The whole nation will focus on national election. So holding of upazila election five days after the parliamentary one will not be possible. Besides, voters will be confused if both the elections are held simultaneously. The caretaker government is holding the election due to their mistrust of political parties. How can you mistrust political parties that are going to lead the nation?

Will not it be easier for criminals to take part in election and flex their muscle power in elections under a political government?
In the 1979, 1986 and 1988 general elections, which were held under military government, killers were elected parliament members and I can identify them by name. This government is also a military-backed government. So, it is not true that criminals can participate, or be used, in elections held under a democratically elected government. After the 1990 mass movement we made a commitment for a fair election and an accountable government free from criminals, but unfortunately the two big political parties who ruled the country failed to perform. And, unfortunately, by that time our politics slipped into criminalisation, communalisation and corruption.

Why are political parties, including your party, expressing reservation about local election observers?
We raised the objection because, in the election of 2001, a good number of Jamaat and Islami groups in the form of NGOs got registered as election observers, and they acted in favour of the BNP-Jamaat-led coalition in the election booths. There are still many such people. Why do they become election observers? The foreign community provides them funds. We told the EC to form an all-party election observer group that will observe the election.

Do you think the government and the EC back-tracked from their earlier position about reforms?
Excepting the EC, ACC, PSC and formation of some commissions, there were no other reforms by the government. The EC, on the basis of our reform proposals, made some electoral reforms. However, the EC retreated from its earlier position on stopping religion-based politics and war criminals, though it earlier accepted those proposals. It admitted that and expressed frustration that it had to do that due to pressure from the executives.

Will the reforms play any role in changing the political culture?
There will be some changes in electoral culture. The change in political culture depends on the political parties. However, due to those electoral rules, political parties will think 10 times before doing anything, and this will be the only return from the laws. There will not be any basic reforms if political parties themselves do not change their political culture.

Should reform be imposed?
Reforms should come from inside. Reforms is the mindset, it is the political culture and behaviour and political practices.

How can the conflict and disbelief now prevailing in our political culture be removed?
Political parties need to accept election results, and play roles in parliament as treasury and opposition as per parliamentary norms. They also need to stop money games and criminalisation of politics.

How do you evaluate the success and failure of this government?
The government achieved successes in reforming the EC, ACC, PSC and some other commissions. It, however, proved seriously lacking in running the administration. It also lacks responsibility to the people. During this government's tenure, 40 lakh people in the informal sector have become unemployed and shelter-less, another 14 lakh have gone below the poverty line in the last one and a half years due to price hike of essentials, and we have moved backward from forward marching position. Political corruption decreased slightly in the upper level, but institutional corruption increased. Besides, all the steps this government has taken regarding our national resources are controversial.

What's your opinion about the so-called minus-two formula?
The minus-two formula was ill-conceived and unfortunate. It was not to minus the two leaders, rather it was to minus democracy. They could not convince the people. So, minus-two has turned to manage-two policy. It was a boomerang for the government.

What is your view about the anti-corruption drive of the government?
Political bigwigs who thought themselves untouchable have been arrested. But, people's perception is that the anti-graft drive is a drive against politicians because the drive against corruption was not conducted with due transparency and accountability. Besides, corruption has shifted to other tracks from politics, but I do not want to mention those names. If you inquire about those who purchased lands and flats you will see corruption has been transferred, not removed.

Do you think those who are accused of corruption should get nomination in the upcoming election?
In our reform proposal that we placed to the EC, we have clearly suggested not giving nomination to any corrupt people. Our party will not give nomination to corrupt people. Besides, 14-party alliance partners are also committed, as per our 23-point charter, not to nominate any corrupt people, criminals and black money holders. We hope they will also not give nomination to such people.

If a big alliance partner like AL gives nomination?
In that case we will refrain from campaigning from such candidates. We will not take their responsibility.

What do you think about the proposed meeting between Sheikh Hasina and Khaleda Zia?
I think political party leaders will hold dialogues among themselves, and it is nothing special. I believe political leaders should sit together if any crisis arises, and if the two top leaders sit together some results will come.

There is criticism about foreign diplomats' comments about our internal political activities. What is your view?
We are always against such activities. Unfortunately, during the political turmoil before 1/11, the US ambassador, the British high commissioner in Bangladesh, and the EU nakedly interfered in our politics, and they have continued it after the 1/11 changeover. They are again active as the next election is nearing. I think it is not only beyond diplomatic norms, but also unfortunate. The political parties also should not go to them willingly to have their views. The media people also should not want their views.

What is the position of Worker's Party in the 14-party alliance? Recently, 11 parties of the alliance held meetings separately.
Apart from the 14-party alliance activities, 11-party is doing its program separately. AL is also doing so. We had differences with the AL on some issues. When AL made a five-point agreement with Khelafat Majlish, 11-party held a press conference and protested it.

What about H.M. Ershard's joining of the grand alliance?
Ershad is now talking about the grand alliance. I think he is doing so to consolidate his political position. I am not saying that there will be no grand alliance in the election but, till now, there has been no discussion in the 14-party about grand alliance. We have clearly said that Ershad has no chance of joining the 14-party fold. However, there might be unity with Jatiya Party about seat sharing in the upcoming election. We have already said we will not forge any political unity with communal and autocratic forces.

How do you see 1/11?
1/11 is nothing but an accident, and an abnormal situation. Our democratic trend has been affected, two years have been wasted and the country has gone 10 years backward. A non-elected government backed by the military never gave good results, and we will see that if we look at the last one year's economic indicators. This army-backed government wants to establish a control system under, and backed by, western powers and under the hegemony of an unconstitutional system for a long time, but they could not do that and will not succeed. The EU office here played a criminal role at that time.

Is there any lesson that political leaders can take from 1/11?
Political leaders will behave democratically and march forward upholding democracy. The lesson is that if you invite a tiger, it will attack you.

[chottala.com] Fw: One Maryland: Our Democratic Duty

Dear All:

I'm pleased to share with you "A Message From The Governor" of the State of Maryland, Hon. Martin O'Malley which was sent to me.

A Message from the Governor

Our Democratic Duty

On Tuesday, November 4, citizens in Maryland and around the nation will participate in one of freedom's greatest privileges, to vote for the next President of the United States and the direction of our nation in this critical time. In this historic election, much is at stake for Maryland and for our nation. State and local Board of Elections officials are preparing for the expected high voter turnout in Maryland, to ensure that no voter is unduly burdened while carrying out their democratic right to vote:

  • Additional voting units and electronic poll books have been deployed to local boards of elections to meet the anticipated increase in voters, including strategic placement of additional equipment in areas with a large increase in registrations.
  • All of the counties report that they are prepared with sufficient numbers of Election Judges for Election Day, to appropriately assist voters in need of help.
  • The State Board of Elections has conducted additional oversight of the pre-election preparations of the local boards including careful review of equipment and supplies, registration system audits, and the development of an emergency management contact system should problems arise.
  • MEMA's Joint Operations Center will be staffed with additional personnel on Election Day in the event of any problems, including weather-related emergencies, for the State Emergency Operations Center to be swiftly activated to coordinate the use of state resources to support local first responders.

Democracy is not merely procedural, however. It is better served by an informed electorate. Follow these simple tips as you prepare to vote:

  • Visit the State Board of Elections website for your polling location, registration status, and to print a sample ballot prior to Election Day. Or call 1-800-222-VOTE.
  • Maryland polls are open November 4 from 7:00 am until 8:00 pm. To avoid delays, voters are encouraged to vote between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm.
  • Absentee ballots must be submitted by mail or fax by today, October 28 (4:30 pm by mail, midnight by fax).

Because of the challenges we face, we must commit together to protecting our shared priorities in order to expand opportunity to more Marylanders, rather than fewer. One way to ensure that our commitment to Maryland's future is fulfilled for years to come is by voting to approve Question two on November 4. This very limited, moderate, state-controlled proposal would pump more than $660 million in slots revenue into our schools, and renew our promise to Maryland's future even in difficult economic times. Elections matter. Be sure your voice is heard on November 4.

- Martin O'Malley, Governor

Oyster Project Helps Inmates Learn About Caring for Natural Resources

Seven inmates at the Eastern Correctional Institution in Westover built 1,000 cages for the "Marylanders Grow Oysters Project," saving the State thousands of dollars while getting a lesson in the value of stewardship.

Waterfront owners along the Tred Avon River in Talbot County are using the cages to care for thousands of young oysters until they grow big enough to survive on their own in a specially prepared habitat. The project is part of the state's ongoing effort to rebuild the Chesapeake Bay's native oyster population and is a partnership between the state, Talbot County, the Oyster Recovery Partnership, the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science and private citizens.

Oysters play an important role in the bay's ecosystem, filtering water and building reefs that serve as habitat for several aquatic species. The partnership plans to expand the program to other tributaries next year.

For more information about this exciting new project, visit the Marylanders Grow Oysters website, or read a full media account here.

Maryland-Asia Environmental Partnership

The Maryland-Asia Environmental Partnership (MD-AEP) is a newly formed, private sector initiative that is mobilizing resources and expertise from corporations, Maryland universities, U.S. and Asian government agencies and multilateral banks to address Asia's massive energy and water resource needs. The unique opportunity to support economic development for Maryland businesses while also improving the Asian environment is a testament to the unique strengths of Maryland's scientific leadership and international stature.

On Wednesday, October 23, the Maryland-Asia Environmental Partnership's (MD-AEP) hosted a forum entitled, "A Public-Private Dialogue: Galvanizing Maryland Resources to Meet Asia's Water Management and Technology Needs" at the Center Club in Baltimore. Panelists discussed their unique perspectives on applicable lessons-learned in water management, new technologies and financial resources, and sustainability efforts which could be mobilized to help address Asia's water management and technology needs.

[chottala.com] No move to register Jamaat-e-Islami before hearings: EC

No move to register JI before hearings: EC
Tue, Oct 28th, 2008 9:16 pm BdST
Dhaka, Oct 28 (bdnews24.com)—The Election Commission's scrutiny committee has taken into cognizance a raft of objections against registering Jamaat-e-Islami as a party, and will not move ahead with the registration process until a hearing has been held.

"A file has been sent to the commission recommending the hearing Jamaat and the organisations that have raised objections," EC joint secretary and chief of the scrutiny committee Nurul Islam Khan told bdnews24.com.

Those who have raised objections will be heard separately.

"The timeline for the hearing will be given after the EC's decision is available," he said, adding that it would likely be completed in a few days.

Replying to a question, Khan said Jamaat would not be registered until the hearing was concluded.

Seven separate statements of objection have been submitted to the Election Commission against registration of Jamaat, by the Sector Commanders Forum and the War Crimes Facts Finding Committee among others.

In a letter submitted to the chief election commissioner Monday, SCF gave a six point statement to the chief election commissioner, including the point that the Bangladesh Constitution clearly mentions that there can be no political party with the word Islam as a part of its name. The SCF statement said Jamaat was deceiving the people by using the 'Islami' as a part of its name.

WCFFC, formed to probe atrocities during the 1971 liberation war, also submitted an objection to the EC, saying Jamaat had been pursuing politics over a long period illegally and unconstitutionally as a branch of a foreign party and organisation, with party leaders involved in inhuman actions, war crimes and genocide during the liberation war through loyalty to Pakistan.

Another five objections against Jamaat's registration were submitted with the EC on Monday by JSD-backed Bangladesh Chhatra League, Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee, Sammilito Sanskritik Jote and Bangabandhu Sanskritik Jote and a group of private individuals.

Jamaat, an ally of BNP, applied for registration on Oct 20.

The EC published a notice seeking objections against BNP's registration on Tuesday.

Eleven parties, including Awami League, BNP and Jatiya Party, have received the all-clear for registration by the EC, barring objections.

The EC's registration work is scheduled to be completed by Oct 30.

The scrutiny committee has said it is collecting information from the field level for most of the 107 parties that have applied for registration.

The EC also held a meeting Tuesday with top officials of the home, foreign affairs and information ministries on visas for foreign election observers

Election officials say two-month visas and 15-day visas will be issued for long term and short term observers respectively.

RE: [chottala.com] Re: US training Pakistani forces to fight Taliban

Dear all chottala readers,

I quite appreciate what Mr. Nader Chowdhury explained about the motivation of chottala. Many started utilising this chottala as a platform, might be for their own interest as political propaganda. What American soldiers did with the Pakistani woman Dr. Afia Siddique, what concern we should have for that lady as Syed Aslam has been writing continuously in this column for a long time, rather creating irritation. It is Pakistan's own internal affairs. Morever what we came to know from the news media this prisoners collected in Pakistan as taliban or in the name of terrorists were handed over to the Americans by Pakistani authority themselves during President Pervez Musharraf's time as a token of goodwill gestures.

Miru
Mr Syed Aslam using our Chottala for Pakistan propaganda machine. He
might have interest in Pakistan. But we dont have any interest to
listen pakistan or its story(we have enough with pakistan). Moreover
we dont like to use Chottala as anti american group.

Syed aslam should read chottala's home page for its description:

"The intention of this group is to meet or bring together the people
from all over the world who once studied, lived, have relatives,
merely interested or from Chittagong, Bangladesh! Chittagong is
famous for its natural beauty, rich history and its great people.

We want to be united and help each other everyway possible. We want
to leverage our united voice, our expertise, our experiences and our
ideas for a better future for Chittagong.

Thanks for your interest! & WELCOME!! "
