[chottala.com] Racially-motivated hatred in NY - "Ground Zero Mosque" protest

"Ground Zero Mosque" protest ends up, predictably, with racially-motivated hatred

Don't call these patriots bigots just because they harassed some Egyptian men for looking like Muslims

AP/Swoan Parker
People in New York protest the proposed construction of a mosque near the World Trade Center site on Sunday, June 6.

There was a protest yesterday, attended by various wingnuts, racists, riled-up nativists, and terrified fools, of the supposed "Ground Zero mosque." (It will not be at Ground Zero, and it will actually be a community center that will include a mosque. But still.)

While national conservatives have picked up the ball, what local opposition there is to the proposed community center has been ginned up by Rupert Murdoch's New York Post -- mainly via perpetually outraged columnist Andrea Peyser, whose anti-mosque columns are regularly teased on the front page.

The entire anti-mosque campaign isn't about anything other than pure, paranoid Islamophobia. A Peyser column a few weeks ago was entirely about people in Sheepshead Bay -- some miles from Ground Zero -- protesting a proposed mosque solely because they're scared of Muslims.

Anyway, they had their protest yesterday. Mike Kelly of the Bergen (New Jersey) Record reported this heartwarming incident:

At one point, a portion of the crowd menacingly surrounded two Egyptian men who were speaking Arabic and were thought to be Muslims.

"Go home," several shouted from the crowd.

"Get out," others shouted.

In fact, the two men – Joseph Nassralla and Karam El Masry — were not Muslims at all. They turned out to be Egyptian Coptic Christians who work for a California-based Christian satellite TV station called "The Way." Both said they had come to protest the mosque.

"I'm a Christian," Nassralla shouted to the crowd, his eyes bulging and beads of sweat rolling down his face.

But it was no use. The protesters had become so angry at what they thought were Muslims that New York City police officers had to rush in and pull Nassralla and El Masry to safety.

"I flew nine hours in an airplane to come here," a frustrated Nassralla said afterward.

But don't you dare call these people bigots!

[chottala.com] Raid inside house of Mirza Abbas

Education definitely an important  in any aspect of business whether it is in politics or social justice. But for civility, sincerety or honesty, you need not have higher education. As we all remember our childhood education that we learned out of "Baillo Shikha" or " Islamic education" taught us all the ingredients of civility and kind to others.  I am sure each one of us have earned the basics  of mankind and understanding  of civilily . But when you talk about the education, we can raise the question for those who has higher education and knowledge are the ones are most corrupt, greedy and they are the one exercises harmful act and delivers hate to our society.

bout the latest violent incident in Bangladesh, once again we started to see similar pattern 1/11. and with all due respect to Prime minister Sheikh Hasina's  government recent crackdown is basically  threatening to reverse democratic progress.  Somehow, I feel it may be another conspiracy within AL big boys to humiliate Prime Minister  Sheikh Hasina Govt . Perhaps Sheikh Hasina do not even know, how such  violent Special Forces repression raided the house of opposition leader Mr. Mirza Abbas, injuring his family members.

On the other hand,  Bangladesh serves as a beacon of hope in a highly unstable South Asia which is home to Pakistan, Nepal, and Bhutan – countries which teeter on the fringe of authoritarian states.  It is critically important that Bangladesh upholds democratic values by protect civil rights of citizens and tolerating peaceful protests.  It is of great importance that Bangladesh continues to exemplify the power of democracy .

I  think Prime Minister  must look into this matter seriously,  intelligently and  carefully  the motive behind  Special forces violent action against  woman, children and domestic workers at Mirza Abbas house unless otherwise instruction comes from her office.

It needs that

Quality knowledge education schools are needed to open for providing quality knowledge educations to including Prime Minister Ministers & position opposition leaders along with all category politicians for educating them as quality knowledge educated politicians

i)                     to do lawful quality politics  under the system of lawful democracy

ii)                   to be lawful politicians under the system of lawful administration

iii)                 to make lawful quality knowledge rules of law  in parliament for ruling the country lawfully &

iv)                 to make  lawful service rules for the police & service holders for doing & serving the police  & the service holders their lawful duty lawfully according to the police rules codes & service rules..

Rapid Action Battalion men yesterday stormed Mirza Abbas's Shahjahanpur residence in the capital and charged baton injuring some 20 persons including family members of the BNP standing committee member.
Locals said following the arrest of Abbas, his wife Afroza Abbas brought out a procession with around 100 activists. Parading different lanes in Shahjahanpur and Shahidbagh areas, the procession ended at the BNP leader's house at around 11:15am.
Soon afterwards, Rab personnel forcibly entered the three-storey building. They ransacked rooms on every floor and beat up family members and local BNP workers inside.
In a late-night development, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia went to the Abbas residence to visit the family members.
Earlier in the afternoon, Afroza Abbas said Rab personnel accompanied by ruling party cadres broke into their house, beat up at least 40 people including her octogenarian mother-in-law and looted valuables.
Speaking at a press briefing at her residence, she also alleged that the elite crime busters harassed some female activists.
Afroza said they came under the attack after they ended their procession peacefully.
Talking to this correspondent, Abbas's mother Kamala Khatun said Rab men got into her room and baton-charged family members who had taken refuge there.
In a chocked voice, she said even military officers did not misbehave with her after the 1/11 changeover.
"I requested them not to beat my nephew Jamal as he was a guest. But they did not listen to me. They shoved me over when I went to his rescue."
Jahura Begum Baby, organising secretary of ward-24 BNP, said Rab personnel beat her while she was trying to get out of the house.
Kamal Uddin, joint secretary of Khilgaon BNP, said Rab men clubbed them inside Abbas's office on the ground floor. During the attack, they picked up around 20 BNP activists including two females.
Lt Col Ziaul Ahsan, chief of Rab intelligence wing, said they went inside the house and charged baton on the BNP workers there after brick chips had been thrown at them.
He however denied the allegations of looting and assault on women.
He added that they were aided by police during the raid.
Contacted, a DMP official said no policeman was present when Rab raided Abbas's house.

[chottala.com] Jamaat trio linked with glut of cases :4 of those for war crimes;

4 of those for war crimes; 16-day remand for interrogation of Nizami, Mojahid, Sayedee; at least 100 Jamaat, Shibir men picked up across country

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami, Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojahid, and Nayeb-e-Ameer Delwar Hossain Sayedee were shown arrested yesterday in a slew of cases including four in connection with war crimes. They were also remanded for 16 days each.

The move came a day after they had been arrested for failing to appear in a Dhaka court in connection with a case of hurting the religious sentiment of the country's Muslims.

The court however granted the three Jamaat top brass bail in that case yesterday.

Meanwhile, law enforcers arrested at least 100 leaders and activists of Jamaat and allied student organisation Islami Chhatra Shibir from different parts of the country till last night since late hours of Tuesday, for putting up road barricades, burning of tires, and bringing out marches protesting the arrests of their leaders. Khulna district Jamaat ameer also former lawmaker, Mia Golam Parwar, was among the arrestees.

Twenty two of them were arrested from the Dhaka court premises yesterday for unlawful gathering.

Nizami and Mojahid were shown arrested in two war crime related cases filed with Keraniganj and Pallabi police stations of the capital in 2007 and 2008, for killing freedom fighters during the country's liberation war in 1971.

A Pirojpur court yesterday granted two petitions for showing Delwar Hossain Sayedee arrested in two separate cases, filed with Pirojpur Sadar and Ikurkandi police stations last year, in connection with killing freedom fighters, torching of houses, and looting of valuables during the liberation war.

"Sayedee was shown arrested in the two cases following a court order," Pirojpur Superintendent of Police Nafiul Islam told The Daily Star last night.

All three of them were shown arrested in connection with Rajshahi University student Faruq Hossain's murder.

The trio were remanded in five other cases. Three of those cases were filed with Paltan police station in the capital, and are in connection with assault on police, and attempt to murder; one was filed with Ramna police station in the capital in connection with an incident of torching a car on June 27 this year, in which two persons were severely burnt; and the other is a sedition case filed with Uttara police station in the capital in March this year.

After the remand hearing, the arrested three were produced before the court which had issued the arrest warrants against them on Tuesday. After hearing both the prosecution and defence, the court granted the arrestees bail in the case in connection with hurting the Muslims' religious sentiment.

Then they were sent to Dhaka Central Jail. They were transported in a prison van amid tight security.

A top police official, wishing anonymity, told The Daily Star that the arrests "were not made suddenly", and hinted that the three might be shown arrested in more cases filed at different parts of the country.

Home Minister Sahara Khatun however told reporters, in the morning before the latest developments took place, that the arrests were not linked to war crimes.

Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Maqbul Ahmad in a media briefing in the afternoon alleged that his party leaders were implicated in "false" cases for "political revenge".

The Dhaka court proceeded with the cases amid a pandemonium yesterday, as hundreds of curious lawyers thronged the court room and the premises, when the accused were brought in at 4:30pm.

Few of the onlooking lawyers were shouting out slurs at the arrestees, accusing them of being killers, and anti-liberation individuals.

The court went on with the proceedings without power supply for about two hours.

Around three hundred law enforcers including members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), and Armed Police Battalion were deployed in the court complex to avoid any untoward incident.

Earlier in the day, leaders and workers of ruling Awami League backed student organisation Bangladesh Chhatra League brought out marches chanting slogans against Jamaat and Shibir around the court premises.

....The charge by itself is sily

[Photo courtesy, Daily Star -http://www.thedailystar.net/story.php?nid=144739  ]

However, phenomenologically speaking, we must realize that  the Jamaati leadership by themselves are AbuSufianoids ....... oppose a "cause"  ... then join after the defeat
[Jamaat vehemently opposed Bangladesh before the people's  victory ... tried to nip the
people's fight for liberation in the bud by engaging the Al-Bodor death squads in the killing fields of 1971 ..... and now pretends to be Bangladesh lovers with their hypocritical Rhetorics....... .

This trio should have been arrested  for their crimes against emerging Bangladesh and organising  armed militia Al-Bodor and aiding & abetting the Paki occupation regime in commiting genocide and mass rapes  .and ... all kinds of atrocities against the people of Bangladesh.

FYI,
Sakhr ibn Harb more commonly known as Abu Sufyan (560-650), who was a staunch opponent of our phophet (PBUH).  Abu Sufyan was a hypocrite, who converted to Islam only after Muslims had conquered Mecca. He managed to infiltrate the Muslim ranks and joined  the Muslim community, so as to keep power in his family instead of the family of the prophets'. There are many controversies over the sincerity of his conversion.
Hind bint 'Utbah was the wife of  Sakhr ibn Harb (Abu Sufyan ).
Hind is infamous in Islamic History for her exultation at the defeat of the Muslims
at the Battle of Uhud when she ate the heart of our prophet's (PBUH) slain uncle
