My salute to al those heroes. Among them Bongobir Gen. Osmani was the first who understood the very danger the country will face if Gen. Zia's BNP stays in power. He fought against BNP candidate Pakistani collaborator Justice Sattar in Presidential election as Awami League supported candidate. He was right, looking at BNP-Jamaat composition now the nation knows the Chief of Army Staff of liberation war worries was true.

শনিবার, ১৭ ডিসেম্বর ২০১১ মানবজমিন ডেস্ক: ভারতের নিরাপত্তা বিশেষজ্ঞ মেজর জেনারেল (অব.) অশোক মেহতা প্রশ্ন তুলেছেন, বাংলাদেশের প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা কি জনগণ এবং সেনাবাহিনীকে নিয়ে আরেক মেয়াদ ক্ষমতায় থাকতে পারবেন? এর মধ্যেই এ অঞ্চলের ভূ-রাজনৈতিক বিষয়টি নির্ভর করছে। এ থেকেই একটি উন্নত কৌশলগত পরিবেশ বেরিয়ে আসবে। শেখ হাসিনা আরেক দফায় ক্ষমতায় আসতে পারলে ভারত যে উদ্দেশ্যে বাংলাদেশকে স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধে সমর্থন দিয়েছিল তা বাস্তবায়ন হতে পারে। বুধবার রাজধানী নয়াদিল্লিতে ‘১৯৭১ ওয়ার: ইন্ডিয়া’স গ্রেটেস্ট ভিক্টরি’ শীর্ষক এক সেমিনারে তিনি এসব কথা বলেন। এ খবর দিয়েছে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের টু সার্কেল নামের একটি ওয়েবসাইট। বার্তা সংস্থা আইএএনএস’কে উদ্ধৃত করে এতে বলা হয়, ওই সেমিনারে প্রশ্ন তোলা হয়, ৪০ বছর আগে বাংলাদেশ সৃষ্টিতে ভূমিকা রাখার কারণে ভারত কৌশলগতভাবে কি লাভবান হয়েছে? এ সেমিনারের আয়োজক ভারতের সেনাবাহিনীর অর্থায়নে পরিচালিত ‘সেন্টার ফর ল্যান্ড ওয়ারফেয়ার স্টাডিজ’ (সিএলএডব্লিউএস)। এতে ওই প্রশ্নের জবাবে বলা হয়েছে, এ অঞ্চলের ভূ-রাজনীতি থেকেই কৌশলগত পরিবেশ নিঃসৃত হবে। অশোক মেহতা এর আগে ১৯৭১ সালের ১৬ই ডিসেম্বর শেষ হওয়া ভারতীয় বাহিনীর সামরিক অভিযান থেকে শেখা সামরিক অভিজ্ঞতার ব্যাপারে আলোচনা করেন। তিনি বলেন, তখন এক কোটি শরণার্থীকে আশ্রয় দেয়ার বিষয়টি চিন্তা করতে হয়েছিল। ১৯৭১ সালের মার্চে সামরিক অভিযান শুরুর পর এসব শরণার্থী তৎকালীন পূর্ব পাকিস্তান (বর্তমানে বাংলাদেশ) থেকে ভারতে চলে এসেছিল। প্রাথমিকভাবে তখন ওই সব শরণার্থীকে আশ্রয় দেয়ার জন্য সীমান্তবর্তী এলাকাতে সীমিত সামরিক সমাধানের উদ্যোগ নেয়া হয়েছিল। কিন্তু এর সঙ্গে অন্য আরও বিষয় একীভূত হওয়ায় আশা করা হচ্ছিল, বাংলাদেশ সৃষ্টি হলে ভারতের পূর্বাংশ উগ্রপন্থিদের অভয়াশ্রমের ঝুঁকি থেকে নিরাপদ থাকবে। বেশ কয়েক বছর এমন কোন নিরাপত্তা পাওয়া যায়নি। বাংলাদেশের স্বাধীনতার প্রবক্তা শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান কয়েক বছর পরই প্রাণ হারান। এরপর সেখানে শাসনের পালাবদল সমস্যাকে আরও জটিল করে তোলে। তিনি বলেন, এখন পরিস্থিতি বদলে গেছে। আমাদের কমান্ডোরা যৌথ মহড়ায় অংশ নিচ্ছে। বাংলাদেশের সেনাপ্রধান এনডিএ (ন্যাশনাল ডিফেন্স একাডেমি)-তে এসে পাসিংআউট প্যারেডের অভিবাদন গ্রহণ করছেন। উলফা বিদ্রোহীদের দেশে ফেরত পাঠানো হচ্ছে। মেহতা বলেন, শেখ হাসিনা আরেক মেয়াদ জনগণ ও সামরিক বাহিনীকে নিয়ে ক্ষমতায় থাকতে পারলে একদম শুরুতে যে পরিকল্পনা করা হয়েছিল তা বাস্তবায়ন হতে পারে। সর্বশেষ আপডেট শনিবার, ১৭ ডিসেম্বর ২০১১ ০৮:৫৭

1350 unidentified bodies buried in 2011

At least 1,350 unidentifiedbodies were recovered from the desolate and marshy land in different parts ofthe country, mostly from the outskirts of the capital, in last 10 months.

Many of the deceased were victimsof 'silent' killing, human rights organization sources have said.   

Anjuman-Mofidul Islam the onlyprivate organization in the country involved with the burial of unidentifiedbodies, said they have buried 1,103 bodies in last 10 months in capital city alone.

At least 1,204 bodies were buriedas unidentified by Anjuman-Mofidul Islam in the year 2010 while 296 in 2009respectively. Anjuman has buried a total 3,437 bodies during the last 10 years.

Anjuman-Mofidul Islam inChatagong also buried 239 unidentified bodies.

Police recovered 15 unidentifiedbodies from Ashulia Turag, Keraniganj and bypass areas in last 4 days.

The miscreants dump the bodieslate in the night or at dawn for fear of their own lives. But most of thebodies recovered remain unidentified police said.

Police and Rapid Action battalion(RAB) sources said most of the killings happened by their rivals.

Abdul Halim, Assistant Directorof  Anjuman-Mofidul Islam told thisreporter that on some occasions they could identify the body after the burial.

Dhaka Medical College Hospitaland Sir Solimullah Medical College Hospital have carried out autopsies of 600and 400 bodies respectively during the period.

Police said they failed to traceout the identity of the bodies as those were pre-planned killing.

Commander Haji Mohammad soyel,director of RAB media wing, told The New Nation yesterday that  police recovered many unidentified bodiesand of them at least 80 per cent were victims of road accident, 10 percentpre-planned killing and 10 percent were fluting people. 

RAB has identified at least 500murder cases those were pre-planned. No one knows for sure how these peopledied and who were the assassins. The victims could be both innocent people andmiscreants. Similarly one can only guess the identity of the assassins.

But the families of the victimsdo generally lodge complaints with the local police stations. Rightsorganisations and the Human Rights Commission have already expressed graveconcern over the rise in the incidents of sudden disappearance and kidnappingof people under mysterious circumstances.

The dumping of bodies in desolateplaces and the incidents of sudden disappearance of people, mainly from Dhakacity, could be very much linked.

Five days after recovering threebodies from Dhaleswari river in Munshiganj, police have recovered three moreunidentified bodies from the same area yesterday, Munshiganj Police Stationsub-inspector Mizanur Rahman said.

The trio had been shot dead andtheir bodies, tied in cement sacks, were dumped into the river, he said.

The bodies appeared one afteranother within a short duration near a pontoon, the police official said.

There were bore signs of wounds,initially thought to have been caused by bullets, on their heads, he said.

The decomposed bodies were sentto a morgue for autopsy, he added.

Ismail Hossain, a formerpresident of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal's ward-50 unit in Dhaka, went 'missing'on November 28. His body was recovered along with two others, from Dhalehswaririver near Munshiganj on December 8.

Chhatra Dal, BNP's student wing,alleged that the law enforcers picked up the organisation's three leaders,including Ismail, from the capital's Hatirpool area. Two of them are stillmissing, the organisation claimed.

Various human rights bodies,including the National Human Rights Commission, have expressed their anxiety atthe increased frequency of such occurrences.

In most of the cases, the victimsare picked-up by people introducing themselves as law enforcers, particularlyas RAB personnel. However, the law enforcers have denied the accusations.
