[chottala.com] Re: BEWARE OF CHANNEL-I OFFICIALS

Dear Mr. Shahid,

I think you should join Channel-I to increase the number of good
people working there.

Well, bad people are everywhere but if we protest against their
harassment towards women, they would reduce their eveil tasks in
future the reason I shared my experience.

I also felt bad when I found some people started to support that
pervert person without any reason. See

Thank you,

[chottala.com] Re: BEWARE OF CHANNEL-I OFFICIALS

EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!!

Dear aslkhokan,

As you said Channel-I official denied (lied actually) that they are
not recruiting any news reader currently, I made a personal
investigation and found some exclusive news regarding the issue!!!

On 10 October 2008 Shaikh Shiraj and Faridur Reza called four
applicants of news readers that they have just short-listed at a fast-
food shop (named Captain's World) to treat them with french fries and
coffee. It was a Friday evening and hundreds of people watched them
at that shop. It is not clear (???) to me why they called the
applicants at a fast-food shop on a weekend evening instead of their
office at weekdays.

NOW, it appears "Dalme Kuch Kala Hay" as Channel-I is just trying to
flee away the matter by lying. I think more investigation is required
for the matter as there is a good possibility of "Kecho Khurte Shaap
Ber Howa" here.

Good luck to you, friends!

Regards,

Akbar Chowdhury

IF YOU ARE NOT A BANGLADESHI-AMERICAN ENGINEERS OR ARCHITECTS, PLEASE DISREGARD & IGNORE THIS E-MAIL.

Dear Bangladeshi-American Engineers and Architects,

Bangladesh Embassy requested me to give them a listing of all Bangladeshi-American engineers & architects listed in my database.  They will keep your information in their official database.  They mainly need your names, your telephone numbers, your e-mail addresses, your job title, your company name, and your nature & type of business.  They have very good reasons for having the listing of your information.  They may need your advice & suggestions for any technical fields in Bangladesh for a variety of reasons.  They may need to use your expertise in any industries in Bangladesh.  From time to time, they may need any of our help & assistance to develop & improve any technical segment in Bangladesh.  Also, some engineers, architects, or their representatives may visit USA from time to time for some training or some technical information exchanges.  They may need our help in USA during their visit.  Sometimes, we may also need their suggestions, help, & assistance.

I only have your names, telephone numbers, and e-mail addresses that I can forward to Bangladesh Embassy.  But, I do not have your job title, your company name, and your type & nature of job.  Please provide me these information (your job title, company name, type & nature of business, etc.) so that I can forward these information to Bangladeh Embassy along with your phone numbers & e-mail addresses.

However, if any of you do not want to disclose your information to Bangladesh Embassy, please inform me as soon as possible.  I am planning to forward the listing of engineers & architects to Bangladesh Embassy during the last week of November 2008.  I will not forward your information to Bangladesh Embassy, if you ask me to not to do so before the last week of November 2008.  I will forward the information of only those engineers & architects, who do not ask me to not to send their information to Bangladesh Embassy.

[chottala.com] Pintu, Mufti Hannan among 20 charged with grenade attacks on AL rally

Front Page
Pintu, Mufti Hannan among 20 charged with grenade attacks on AL rally

A Dhaka court yesterday finally framed charges against detained former BNP lawmaker Abdus Salam Pintu, Harkatul Jihad (Huji) chief Mufti Abdul Hannan and 20 others in two cases filed for grenade attacks on an Awami League (AL) rally in August 2004.

Judge Mohammad Masdar Hossain of the Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 also rejected the discharge petitions of Pintu, Hannan and 12 others in jail custody.

The court fixed November 5 for trial of the cases--one for murder and another for bomb blast--and summoned the complainant to appear before it on that date.

The grenade attacks on the AL rally on Bangabandhu Avenue on August 21, 2004 left 24 people including Ivy Rahman, wife of acting AL President Zillur Rahman, killed and 200 others including AL chief Sheikh Hasina injured.

Charges were framed in the cases after hearing had to be adjourned on nine consecutive dates following tie petitions from both the prosecution and defence. Both the cases were earlier shifted to the tribunal for quick disposal following a home ministry order.

In the murder case, charges were framed against all the 22 accused under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 326 (grievous hurt), 324 (causing hurt), 109 (abetment), 34 (criminal liability), 120(B) (criminal conspiracy) and 302 (murder) of the Penal Code. Bomb blast charges were framed against them under sections 3, 4 and 6 of the Explosive Substances Act.

The court charged Pintu also with approving the plan of the grenade attack prepared by Hannan and his accomplices. The former BNP lawmaker was also charged with assisting the Huji men with finances and administrative help and abetting them for killing and injuring the victims.

Pintu, Hannan and 12 others, who are now in jail custody, pleaded not guilty and demanded justice after the charges were read out to them. Eight accused have been absconding.

The 12 accused in jail are Hannan's brother Mohibullah alias Mafizur Rahman alias Ovi, Sharif Shahidul Islam alias Bipul, Maulana Abu Sayeed alias Dr Abu Zafar, Abul Kalam Azad alias Bulbul, Jahangir Alam, Maulana Abu Taher, Shahadatullah Jewel, Hossain Ahmed Tamim, Mufti Moinuddin Sheikh alias Abu Zandal alias Masum Billah, Arif Hasan Sumon, Rafiqul Islam Sabuj and Mohammad Ujjal alias Ratan.

The eight absconding accused are Pintu's brothers Maulana Tajuddin and Maulana Liton, Anisul Mursalin and his brother Mahibul Muttakin, Iqbal, Maulana Abu Bakar alias Selim Howlader, Jahangir Alam Badar and Khalilur Rahman.

Charges were framed against them in absentia and their trial will be continued in their absence.

During the investigation of the cases, Hannan, Bipul, Ovi, Abu Sayeed, Bulbul, Arif Hossain, Jahangir and Sabuj gave statements under section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) confessing their involvement in the grenade attack.

Special Public Prosecutor Firoz Kamrul Hassan and advocates Syed Rezaur Rahman, M Sajwar Hossain and Saharar Khatun appeared for the state during yesterday's hearing.

THE CASE
The police filed the two cases with Motijheel Police Station a day after the grenade attack.

On June 5 last year, Badar Aziz Uddin of Cox's Bazar filed another case with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court, Dhaka, charging former premier Khaleda Zia, her son Tarique Rahman, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami and 25 others with murder.

However, the investigation officer of the case, Criminal Investigation Department Assistant Superintendent Fazlul Kabir, did not find any links of them to the incident.

On June 11 this year, the investigation officer of the two cases submitted the charge sheets, accusing the 22 persons in each case.

The charge sheets contain 42 pages each while the case dockets have more than 3,000 pages. A total of 408 persons, including Hasina and other top AL leaders, have been made prosecution witnesses in the cases.

Besides, 69 types of evidence including Hasina's sports utility vehicle, the truck used as the makeshift podium at the rally, grenade splinters and blood stained clothes were submitted.

A Message from the Governor

Our Democratic Duty

On Tuesday, November 4, citizens in Maryland and around the nation will participate in one of freedom's greatest privileges, to vote for the next President of the United States and the direction of our nation in this critical time. In this historic election, much is at stake for Maryland and for our nation. State and local Board of Elections officials are preparing for the expected high voter turnout in Maryland, to ensure that no voter is unduly burdened while carrying out their democratic right to vote:

·                     Additional voting units and electronic poll books have been deployed to local boards of elections to meet the anticipated increase in voters, including strategic placement of additional equipment in areas with a large increase in registrations.

·                     All of the counties report that they are prepared with sufficient numbers of Election Judges for Election Day, to appropriately assist voters in need of help.

·                     The State Board of Elections has conducted additional oversight of the pre-election preparations of the local boards including careful review of equipment and supplies, registration system audits, and the development of an emergency management contact system should problems arise.

·                     MEMA's Joint Operations Center will be staffed with additional personnel on Election Day in the event of any problems, including weather-related emergencies, for the State Emergency Operations Center to be swiftly activated to coordinate the use of state resources to support local first responders.

Democracy is not merely procedural, however. It is better served by an informed electorate. Follow these simple tips as you prepare to vote:

·                     Visit the State Board of Elections website for your polling location, registration status, and to print a sample ballot prior to Election Day. Or call 1-800-222-VOTE.

·                     Maryland polls are open November 4 from 7:00 am until 8:00 pm. To avoid delays, voters are encouraged to vote between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm.

·                     Absentee ballots must be submitted by mail or fax by today, October 28 ( 4:30 pm by mail, midnight by fax).

Because of the challenges we face, we must commit together to protecting our shared priorities in order to expand opportunity to more Marylanders, rather than fewer. One way to ensure that our commitment to Maryland's future is fulfilled for years to come is by voting to approve Question two on November 4. This very limited, moderate, state-controlled proposal would pump more than $660 million in slots revenue into our schools, and renew our promise to Maryland's future even in difficult economic times. Elections matter. Be sure your voice is heard on November 4.

- Martin O'Malley, Governor

Oyster Project Helps Inmates Learn About Caring for Natural Resources

Seven inmates at the Eastern Correctional Institution in Westover built 1,000 cages for the "Marylanders Grow Oysters Project," saving the State thousands of dollars while getting a lesson in the value of stewardship.

Waterfront owners along the Tred Avon River in Talbot County are using the cages to care for thousands of young oysters until they grow big enough to survive on their own in a specially prepared habitat. The project is part of the state's ongoing effort to rebuild the Chesapeake Bay's native oyster population and is a partnership between the state, Talbot County, the Oyster Recovery Partnership, the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science and private citizens.

Oysters play an important role in the bay's ecosystem, filtering water and building reefs that serve as habitat for several aquatic species. The partnership plans to expand the program to other tributaries next year.

For more information about this exciting new project, visit the Marylanders Grow Oysters website, or read a full media account here.

Maryland-Asia Environmental Partnership

The Maryland-Asia Environmental Partnership (MD-AEP) is a newly formed, private sector initiative that is mobilizing resources and expertise from corporations, Maryland universities, U.S. and Asian government agencies and multilateral banks to address Asia's massive energy and water resource needs. The unique opportunity to support economic development for Maryland businesses while also improving the Asian environment is a testament to the unique strengths of Maryland's scientific leadership and international stature.

On Wednesday, October 23, the Maryland-Asia Environmental Partnership's (MD-AEP) hosted a forum entitled, "A Public-Private Dialogue: Galvanizing Maryland Resources to Meet Asia's Water Management and Technology Needs" at the Center Club in Baltimore. Panelists discussed their unique perspectives on applicable lessons-learned in water management, new technologies and financial resources, and sustainability efforts which could be mobilized to help address Asia's water management and technology needs.
