Hello Readers,

That is definitely a good news. Bangladesh also needs to strat degree programs (like BS/MS/PhD in Cybersecurity, Privacy, and IT Risk Management) at Bangladeshi Universities. These degrees have an exceptionally high demand and value in the world's job market.

Subject: [BANGLA-IT] Bangladesh forms tribunal to try cyber criminals

Source:
http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news/afp/130207/bangladesh-forms-tribunal-try-cyber-criminals
Bangladesh has formed a fast-track court to try cyber criminals after a spike in crimes involving mobile phones and social networking sites such as Facebook, an official said Thursday.
The move comes four months after major communal violence in which an alleged Facebook posting of a photo defaming the Koran by a Buddhist sent tens of thousands of Muslims on the rampage against the minority community.
Officials said the Cyber Tribunal, the first of its kind in the country, will be empowered to conclude trials within six months.
"This tribunal was needed for the sake of quick and efficient trial of cyber crime cases as they disturb social stability," said Rahman Khan, an assistant director of the government's telecommunications regulatory commission (BTRC).
"We are receiving a growing number of complaints about abuse and harassment using fake Facebook IDs, doctoring photos, filming porno footage with mobile phone and posting them on websites and hacking of websites," Khan told AFP.
The BTRC set up a taskforce to deal with the cyber crimes last year and it was "overwhelmed with thousands of complaints", he said.
Last year police arrested at least half a dozen people after they allegedly made derogatory comments and posted doctored photos of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on their Facebook accounts.
Bangladesh, a country of 153 million people, has nearly seven million broadband Internet users and nearly 100 million mobile phone users.

[chottala.com] Quader Mollah: Accusations and Verdict

Quader Mollah: Accusations and Verdict (Video) (Updated)

ICT-2 verdict's on the war crimes case against Jamaat leader Abdul Quader Mollah declared life imprisonment in two cases, 15 year jail in 3 cases and one case is not proven in six specific charges for his alleged involvement in murders and mass killings during the Liberation War in 1971.

The Jamaat assistant secretary general was indicted on May 28 last year with six specific charges for his alleged involvement in murders and mass killings during the Liberation War in 1971.

According to the charges, Mollah"actively participated" in the killing of at least 381 unarmed people in Dhaka's Mirpur and Keraniganj areas in six different incidents.

He also aided the Pakistan army to kill and rape civilians, the charges added.

The tribunal, set up to try those accused of committing crimes against humanity during the country's Liberation War, on Tuesday started delivering the judgment amid tough security.

A total of 12 prosecution witnesses, including two investigations officers of the case, had testified while six people, including Mollah himself, testified as defense witnesses.

On May 28, the second tribunal framed six charges of crimes against humanity against Quader Mollah for his alleged involvement in murders and mass killings committed during the Liberation War in 1971.

Charges framed against Quader Mollah:

o April 5, 1971, on Mollah's instructions, one of his aides named Akhter killed Pallab, a student of Bangla College and an organiser of the Liberation War.
o March 27, 1971, Mollah and his aides murdered pro-liberation poet Meherun Nesa, her mother and two brothers at their home at Mirpur-6 of Dhaka.
o March 29, 1971, Mollah, accompanied by Al-Badr, Razakars and non-Bangla speaking Bihari men, apprehended journalist Khondoker Abu Taleb and brought him to a place known as Mirpur Jallad Khana Pump House and slit his throat.
o November 25, 1971, an organised attack and indiscriminate shooting by Mollah and his cohorts killed hundreds of unarmed people of Khanbari and Ghatar Char villages in Keraniganj.
o April 24, 1971, Mollah led Pakistan army men and around 50 non-Bangla speaking Biharis into an attack on unarmed people of Alubdi village in Mirpur that left 344 people killed.
o Evening of March 26, 1971, under the leadership of Mollah, some Biharis and Pakistani soldiers killed one Hazrat Ali and five members of his family in Mirpur.

According to the first charge, Quader Mollah tried to prove that the accused did not have Pallab killed during the Liberation War.

Jamaat leader Quader Mollah filed the petition earlier on January at the second tribunal seeking retrial of hiscases.

However, a date was scheduled to give order on the hearing but the defence was not present at the tribunal due to BNP-led 18 party sponsored countrywide dawn to dusk hartal.

Prior to the ICT verdict against Mollah, Jamaat-e-Islami enforced a countrywide dawn-to-dusk hartal at 6am today (Tuesday).

Jamaat activists and picketers vandalized transports and injured police in some places around the capital.

Quader Mollah was arrested at 13 July, 2013 on charge of the 1971 genocide. He was arrested with another Jamaat leader Qamaruzzaman in front of Supreme Court.

Re: [chottala.com] Re: General Ershad & his role

General Ershad is one individual that came to prominence not for Sheikh Mujib but for Zia-ur-Rahaman. Though General Ershads name was not known much during Sheikh Mujib administration...he also did have a very highly decorated Military Rank in Bangladesh Military..he was the ADJUTANT GENERAL of BANGLADESH MILITARY..under Sheikh Mujibur Rahman administration..a rank that is among many things responsible for enforcing discipline with in Military Ranks., I think that rank directly or indirectly controls Military Court Martial related legal system to Military Police and etc...

It may have mitigated a bit now in Bangladesh Military, I think..but during Mujib administration their existed a division with in Army..between Military Personnel that was supposedly should I say like EAST BENGAL REGIMENT , EAST PAKISTAN RIFLES..vs Military Personnel that were stranded in West Pakistan during the war..as I understand General Ershad was in West Pakistan supposedly they had many that were Bengali speaking in then Army ..in some kind of Camp arrangement..they were known as Repatrioits in The Bangladesh Army..

Well Zia-ur-Rahman..is the one that brought General Ershad into Prominence..by assigning him..Deputy Chief of Bangladesh Army..he stood by Begum Zia..after Zia was assassinated..well he did remove Begum Zia by Military coup.. and formed his won party, then in subsequent elections sided with Begum Zia to give her victory..

I know of many, many that was in one time with BNP politics..that left BNP dis enchanted, one of the main reason could be as BNP likes to move the cause of..Zia..and his son Tareq..as the eventual leader in Bangladesh Politics..whom many thinks..is a Chichkey Pola..

Well from that aspect ego..pride, valor, armour..many comes to play..well thus the high rate of defection from BNP..where as I think Mujib Family or not..Awami League will sustain and it was the case when Zia ruled and AL was opposition..AL has proven it over the period of time..and many are veteran in politics..thus many other veterans in politics feel comfortable with ..AL..of other parties under the table..

But AL said 1/11 was the fruit of their andolon and AL would give them indemnity if they come to power. AL kept their word and no case was filed against any of the 1/11 men for violating the constitution, undermining the democratic institutions and various misdeeds.

Similarly nothing was done about Ershad for violating the constitution and promulgating martial law. When Ershad took over power by a coup AL said they were not unhappy. Ershad's misdeeds are now history but AL made him their digit-AL partner.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday directed the senior army officials to resist any anti-democratic and anti-constitutional activity for continuation of the country's development.
"Stay alert so that no vested quarter can disrupt the country's forward march riding over the army's back. I hope you'll resist any anti-democratic and anti-constitutional activity with your all-out strength," she said.

Mr. Ali Akbar,

Your referred materials are nothing but some incorrect assumptions and wrong perceptions of some (anti Awami League) people or their engaged group - not any legal document or prof or logical statement with authentic evidence.

Would you please give the links and official reference of the investigations you mentioned in your postings?

I am challenging you to prove all these allegation through authentic and publicly available documents and proofs!

Other than the statements of Bangladesh Government and Ministers, I have read many authentic documents, paper clips, articles and writings on this "Conspiracy for corruption" on Padma Bridge construction of the concerned company and peoples like:

  • Concerned company SNC Lavalin of Canada

Concerned people who are directly involved (professionally or officially) like,

  • Our respected and eminent Professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury (popularly known to his students, like me, and engineering community as JRC) Sir. Dr. JRC was Chairman of this supervision consultant tender evaluation committee and International Expert committee of this "Padma Bridge" project consist of 10 member (3 from Japan, one from Holland, one from Norway and 5 from Bangladesh) . He was also on similar role in Jamuna Bangabandhu Bridge project.
  • Mr. Musharraf Hussain Bhuiyan, Concerned Secretary, Bangladesh Bridge Division, Government of Bangladesh.
  • Dr. Mozammel H. Khan (of BUET) is the Professor and the Head of Mechanical Engineering and Quality Engineering Departments and the Director of Continuing Education, Canada and Convener of the Canadian Committee for Human Rights and Democracy. He talked with concerned peoples of the Concerned company SNC Lavalin of Canada

All these information, articles, news were published in reputed national and international Newspaper or broad casted in TV. None of the information and news were challenged by concerned parties.

Unfortunately, none of them support your or your referred "assumptions and perceptions" rather they contradictory.

Moreover, like any other developed country, Canadian Police RCMP or authority will not tell anything to people and media before they complete their investigation and submit their final report to their concerned authority.

So all your and or your referred "assumptions and perceptions" are logically, factually incorrect and in one word "rubbish".

Therefore, read and think before ink.
