[chottala.com] Is Social Security for Elderly anti Islam?

Now you understand, why Karl Marx had made Elderly and Retired people Government's responsibility and why his this proposal was accepting in by Capitalist Americans later in 1934, when they had started sending Monthly Cheques (paying not too little money) plus had starting providing Free Medical Care to all handicapped, Mentally Retarded and retired elderly over 65 years of age?
.
The case explained below proves, Islamic Cultural and Society System does not work and Socailism works fine 100% because nothing is guaranteed in Islamic System. Now could anybody tell me, if this part of Socialism, which is being practiced in all advanced countries of the world is not Islam?
Its not and because Moslims had failed to come up with such system, God had to create Karl Marx to give Moslims some shame however, could now anybody tell me, are we ashamed?
Not really because we are wearing clothes, right?
.
Majority of Moslim Immigrants in the West are living off famously on Charity of Socialistic system of the Western Countries but when you ask them, all are Anti Socialism. Most of them want Islamic System in their countries and some want Shriya Law even in Canada and U.K. Morons ...!

No regrets about living at Edhi home: Qureshi

Eighty-eight year old Bibi Begum Qureshi takes a trip down memory lane on Friday. – White Star
KARACHI: "Money defines relationships today. But I have no regrets that at this age, I am living at an Edhi home. I look at this phase as another aspect of the independence which I thoroughly enjoyed throughout my life," says 88-year-old Bibi Begum Qureshi.
Ms Qureshi, who is currently staying at the shelter home for homeless women in North Karachi, holds a doctorate degree in agricultural economics and has the experience of teaching at three foreign universities for many years.
She also claims to have taught the former UN secretary-general, Kofi Annan, in Ghana .
Resting on a bed in a large hall, Dr Qureshi doesn`t appear to be different from the many destitute women at the shelter home.
But it`s only when one starts talking to her that one recognises her graceful personality and realises the irony that sometimes even higher academic qualification can`t help when it comes to old age.
"Relations become a burden at an old age if they cannot contribute to family income," explains Dr Qureshi who can vividly recall the details of her past.
Born in Muradabad in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, Dr Qureshi got her bachelors and masters degrees from the Aligarh Muslim University after receiving education from Gokuldas Girls College and Partab Singh High School .
She later went to Ireland where she did her MLitt and PhD from the Trinity College of University of Dublin in 1960. She also had to borrow money to meet her educational expenses there.
"My father had great confidence and trust in me even more than he had in his three sons. He raised me like a boy that helped me grow in life," she says.
After completing her studies, Dr Qureshi returned to Pakistan and taught at the Government College for Women in Rawalpindi for about five years. She also taught at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana; the University of Lusaka, Zambia; and the University of Nairobi, Kenya.
"I spent almost 12 years teaching in Africa . I had a wonderful teaching experience in Ghana where I taught for eight years. Kofi Annan was my student, though not a bright one," she quips.
According to Dr Qureshi, she was inspired by the speeches of Ghana`s first president Kwame Nkrumah that was a major reason behind her decision to apply for a post in that country. She says she finally met him when he came to listen to her public lecture.
"I enjoyed my life to the fullest and had the opportunity to visit many European countries. However, the country I really liked was China because of the dedication and honesty I saw in its citizens," she says.
Replying to a question regarding her marriage, Dr Qureshi explains that she remained engaged to her cousin for four years but had to break off the relationship to pursue higher studies.
Disappointed by job offers in the country, she preferred not to work here once she got retired and spent many years at her siblings` place.
She says she prays for the good health of Abdus Sattar Edhi who has provided the best and safest place to the homeless. "It`s like my second home."
"We look after basic needs of destitute women and provide medical support to them," says the official in charge of the Edhi centre, Dr Naseem Atiq.In her opinion, the most challenging aspect of the job is to see the old longing for home.
"This is painful. But our problem is that we can neither force the families to take their old relations back home nor can we abandon them," she says, adding that a majority of the women are old and suffering from psychological illnesses.
"When I joined seven years ago, there were 500 women at the shelter. The figure has risen to 1,600 now. This is happening perhaps because
we have stopped practising our religion in its true sense," she believes.
She says it saddened her even more when it emerged that many families had given wrong addresses and phone numbers to the centre to avoid contact and responsibility.
"In this materialistic age, people have lost the quality of being humane. We don`t have the time to listen, talk and care for the elderly people who need to be looked after like a child. Families consider it easier to declare their old relatives psychological ill and admit them here," says Dr Atiq.

Ban says war crimes trial essential for Bangladesh's future:

DHAKA, Nov 15 (BSS) - Visiting UN Secretary General Ban-Ki- moon today strongly supported Bangladesh initiatives to try the suspects of "crimes against humanity" during 1971 Liberation War saying it was "essential" for the national unity and future. "For any nation, dealing with the darker aspects of the past is essential to creating unity and building a healthy, brighter future," he said while delivering a lecture at a special convocation at Dhaka University as it conferred upon him an honorary doctor of law degree. He said Bangladesh was seeking to deal more fully with the legacy of 1971 establishing a war crimes tribunal and took "other important steps" in this regard."These issues are difficult, to be sure . . . (but) essential," the top UN executive said.

10-Truck Arms Haul
Cases go to trial Nov 29
Charges framed against Nizami, Babar, 9 other new accused
Staff Correspondent, Ctg
Finally, the much-awaited trial in ten-truck arms haul cases is set to start on November 29.
A Chittagong court yesterday framed formal charges against Jamaat-e-Islami chief Motiur Rahman Nizami, former state minister for home Lutfozzaman Babar and nine others in connection with the biggest-ever arms bust in the country.
On April 2, 2004, around 1,500 wooden boxes of submachine guns, AK-47 rifles, submachine carbines, Chinese pistols, rocket shells and launchers, hand grenades and bullets were seized from two vessels at Chittagong Urea Fertiliser Limited (CUFL) jetty.
The two cases were filed the next day with Karnaphuli Police Station under the Special Powers Act for arms smuggling and the Arms Act.
The arms and ammunition were taken to the warehouse at Dampara Police Lines in Chittagong in 10 trucks guarded by a huge contingent of police, coastguards and paramilitary BDR.
In the first charge sheet of arms case, the court framed charges against 43 others in 2005. Of them, 26 are now out on bail.
At the same time, the court also framed charges against 45 others in the case filed for smuggling. Of them, 27 have been granted bail.
After framing the charges yesterday against the 11, named in supplementary charge sheet, the cases are ready for trial against more than 50 accused in total of the cases.
Metropolitan Sessions Judge SM Mujibur Rahman fixed November 29 for the trial, bringing an end to a long wait of seven years.
Of the 11, Babar, Nizami, Brig Gen (retd) Abdur Rahim, former director general of National Security Intelligence; Maj Gen (retd) Rezzaqul Haider Chowdhury, former director of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence and DG of NSI; former NSI director Wing Commander (retd) Shahab Uddin, ex-NSI deputy director Maj (retd) Liakat Hossain, ex-NSI field officer Akbar Hossain Khan, ex- CUFL managing director Mohsin Talukder and former general manager (admin) Enamul Hoque were produced before the court.
Tow others -- Ulfa leader Paresh Barua and former additional secretary of industries ministry Nurul Amin -- are yet to be arrested.
Hafizur Rahman and Deen Mohammad, two other accused named in the original charge sheet, were also present during yesterday's proceedings. The court had earlier framed charges against them.
After the supplementary charge sheets were submitted in June 26 this year, the number of accused stood at 52 in the case filed for smuggling the firearms and at 50 in the arms case.
In 2004, investigators submitted charge sheets against 45 people for smuggling and 43 people in the arms case. Four people, who were accused in both cases, have died.
Since the hearing on charge framing started on Monday afternoon, counsels of the nine accused placed arguments till yesterday 4:00pm. The said allegations against their clients were baseless and "politically motivated".
The defence lawyers added the names of the nine were not found in the first information report (FIR) or in the original charge sheet while no specific allegation were made in the supplementary charge sheet.
They also criticised appointing Senior ASP Moniruzzaman of Criminal Investigation department (CID) as the last investigation officer of the cases replacing ASP Md Ismail.
Public Prosecutor Kamal Uddin said the Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court on February 14, 2008 ordered further investigation into the cases following an appeal by the then PP Ahsanul Haque Hena during the term of the last caretaker government. Moniruzzaman was made IO back then.
Nothing was done during the tenure of the present government, he added.
He claimed that the investigation was not "politically motivated" since none of the nine newly accused was "political person" except Babar and Nizami and allegations against all were specific.
After hearing from both sides, the judge asked the nine accused present at the court room whether they had anything to say, said sources at the court room.
At first Nizami claimed innocence and then other accused, including Babar, shouted together saying they were not guilty.
The judge said none could be termed guilty or innocent before the trial. Afterwards, he framed the charges.

RE: [chottala.com] JAMAAT ON TRIAL [A VIEW FROM PAKISTAN]

Secularsim comes from Religion(Islam) of Majority to respect religions of minority.
Islam is the state religion of Bangladesh. We should not debate this.
Islam pusnishes who mistreat or disrespect people of other religion.

Bangladesh(east bengal) was born in 1947 for Muslim majority. It is a historical fact.
Secularsim cannot be a religion of Bangladesh.

Dear all,

Secularism is not opposite of religion. Basically we can say, Secularism is the principle of separation between government institutions and the persons mandated to represent the State from religious institutions and religious dignitaries.

Awami league believe in Secularism but majority of people in Awami league follow religions. So, Awami league believes in religion.

Bangabandu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was a good Muslim that's why he was fed up by the actions of the then west Pakistani corrupt rulers. According to the holy Quran, it is a sacred duty of a good Muslim to protest injustice and Bangabandu exactly did that. That time in Pakistani army there were several generals and even one field marshal out there. But how many were Bengali generals in Pakistani army?  None!! They terribly marginalized Bengali people in Pakistani army!! So it is just one indicator how badly those corrupt Pakistani behaved with Bengali. Bangabandu led Bangladeshi people for just to get our due share. He did not ask anything extra.

Mullah Mududi and all his avid supporters and collaborators are fanatic hadith followers. Mududi was a big criminal and due to his criminal and violent activities he was even awarded death penalty; luckily he was pardoned later! Mududi followers just want to create a different version of Talibani regime here in Bangladesh.  Most of those Jamati are followers of devil so they are always in wrong side and that happened in 1971 as well. Allah almighty promises in the holy Quran that devil followers will never be supported by Him. So, many of those Jamati did heinous crime against humanity during our liberation war in 1971 in the name of Islam!  They thought they will never be asked for their crimes but God's plan is formidable.

Those Jamati who were involved in civilian murders, rapes etc. must now pay the price according to the law of the land. We only need to make sure that fair justice will be served. Because according to the holy Quran it is crucial.

[The Quran 4:135]  O you who believe, you shall be absolutely equitable, and observe GOD, when you serve as witnesses, even against yourselves, or your parents, or your relatives. Whether the accused is rich or poor, GOD takes care of both. Therefore, do not be biased by your personal wishes. If you deviate or disregard (this commandment), then GOD is fully Cognizant of everything you do.

Whether jammat wanted united Pakistan or not is not a big deal now. They are defeated force, everybody knows. Big deal is that jamat is a fanatic hadith follower groups like Taliban, Al-Qaeda, JMB etc. so every progressive minded Bangladeshi must be aware about their false and dangerous propaganda in the name of Islam.  We already showed them clearly that hadith cannot be taken as a source of religious guidance so they have no excuse at all to terrorize peace loving people. http://www.progressive-muslim.org/Quran-alone-and-no-hadith.htm

Thanks and regards.

Secularism is opposite of religion. Any knowledgeable believer can not believe in secularism.Jamaat was never against Bangla.Professor Azam was an earlier fighter for Bangla.Maulana Mududi wrote a book on problems of this area and their solutions and criticized failure of rulers in dealing with this area justly. He was very strong supporter of Bangla as a state language.

Solaria's piece is just propaganda. Please see the bold portion. it is no new news that jammate Islam wanted to keep united Pakistan till December71.There after they accepted the new reality and working most sincerely for Bangladesh . Many others are trying to dilute independence of Bangladesh now  but Jamaat is trying to protect Bangladesh from the clutches of the hegemonic power in the border.

Nowadays, most of the 'educated middle class' people in Bangladesh are so traumatized about speaking out FOR secularism that any statement against Jamaat or any other anti-1971 independence movement is taken to mean anti-Islam. I find it ironic that for a true account of what occurred in East Pakistan in the days prior to and during 1971 liberation war we have to sometimes hear it from a Pakistani.
The following article by Farooq Sulehria published in a Pakistani paper is a valuable addition to our knowledge. It has certain information, especially about the cultural viewpoints of Jamaat against the Bengali, and about the activism of Moududi and his tribe in 1971, that should be pursued in further detail by the Prosecution in Dhaka 's War Crimes Tribunal in order to establish the culpability of the motivation of the indicted Jamaati War Criminals.

                    Farida Majid

<< The problem, so to say, was not exploitation at the hands of West Pakistan but what the Jamaat considered East Pakistan's lack of Islamisation.

The Jamaat contended that Bengali literature was pervaded by Hindu ideas since Tagore was the major influence on it, while the similes and proverbs of Bengali reflected Hindu thought and social way of life. Besides, Bengali literature lacked what the Jamaat called Islamic politics, economics and way of life.

When Sheikh Mujib presented his Six Points, the Jamaat strongly rejected them on the pretext that they constituted a demand for secession. When the military operation was launched in East Pakistan in March 1971, the Jamaat intensified its campaign against the Awami League. The Jamaat dismissed the League and India as tools of a "world Christian-Jewish conspiracy" to dismember Pakistan .

BANGLADESH: JAMAAT ON TRIAL [A VIEW FROM PAKISTAN ]

by Farooq Sulehria
=======================================
The News, October 29, 2011

Delawar Hossain Sayedee, leader of the Jamat-e-Islami in Bangladesh , has been indicted with 20 counts, including 3,000 killings, rape and arson, during Bangladesh 's nine-month-long war of liberation.

If proven guilty, Sayedee could face the death sentence. He has denied all charges against him. Sayedee will now be tried by the International Crimes Tribunal, a domestic tribunal with no United Nations role, which was set up last year to investigate war crimes in 1971. The trial begins on Oct 30.

While the role of the Pakistani military has drawn some media criticism, the Jamaat's role in East Pakistan in 1971 has gone largely unnoticed.

The attitude of the Jamaat to the problems and issues raised by the East Pakistanis even prior to the military action was hostile at worst and ambiguous at best. Understandably, the Jamaat was never able to prosper in East Pakistan .

At the time of Partition, the Jamaat had only one member in East Pakistan . At the time of Bangladesh 's inception, it had 300-400 members (and roughly 2,100 in West Pakistan ). However, it must be borne in mind that Jamaat's membership was not open to everybody.

The Jamaat and the religious parties won a small percentage of the vote in West Pakistan in the December 1970 elections, in which they made an unexpectedly bad showing. In a bizarre twist of events, the Jamaat happened to come out a remote second, despite its tiny percentage, to the Awami League in East Pakistan . The League swept the elections in the province, winning all but two of the National Assembly seats there (neither of which went to the Jamaat).

Soon after the creation of Pakistan , the first expression of East Pakistan 's displeasure was the language riots. Jinnah wanted Urdu as the state language. East Pakistan wanted both Urdu and Bengali as state languages.

Since 56 percent of the population of united Pakistan spoke Bengali while 37 percent spoke Punjabi, Urdu was the language of the minority. However, Jinnah rejected East Pakistan's plea, and from February 1948 the language issue began to dominate politics in East Pakistan .

In March 1948, there were student strikes and demonstrations throughout the province. Prime Minister Liaquat Khan reacted to the protests saying, " Pakistan is a Muslim state and it must have its lingua franca, the language of the Muslim nation...It is necessary for the nation to have one language and that language can only be Urdu, and no other language."

The Centre finally capitulated to East Pakistan 's demand in 1952, but only after several Bengali-language activists had been killed in the movement.

The Jamaat's reaction to the acceptance of Bengali as an official language was unwelcoming, if not outright hostile. The Jamaat's organ Tarjuman-ul-Quran, for instance, declared that acceptance of Bengali on the same level as Urdu would discourage East Pakistanis from learning Urdu, and thus keep them ignorant of Islam since Urdu was richer in Islamic literature.

The Jamaat later on began to pay lip service to East Pakistanis' concerns, like the language issue, or their under-representation in the military.

However, as the Jamaat saw it, the real problem was East Pakistan 's Hindus, who dominated the trade, and the communists. Maulana Maudoodi urged the ulema to rid the East Pakistani masses of what he called their ignorance of Islam, because "the influence of Hindu culture over their language, dress, habits and way of thinking is so big that they have lost all sense of its being an extraneous element in their life."

The problem, so to say, was not exploitation at the hands of West Pakistan but what the Jamaat considered East Pakistan 's lack of Islamisation.

In hindsight, the Jamaat propaganda may sound hysterical. However, at the time it helped rationalise the excesses committed against East Pakistanis. Not content with ideological justifications, the Jamaat raised militias and actively participated, alongside the army, in liquidating radical and progressive intellectuals and activists.

In May 1971, while East Pakistan was being brutalised, Maulana Rahmat Ilahi, the Jamaat's general secretary, declared: "Our brave army has saved Pakistan ." Maulana Maudoodi appealed to East Pakistan 's "genuine Muslims to help the army in rounding up Awami Leaguers."

According to him, the movement in East Pakistan was sponsored by Hindus, communists and atheistic Bengali nationalists, all of whom were agents of India , communism and Jews.

In April 1971, the Maulana sent a memorandum to 39 Muslim heads of states and the Rabita-e-Alam-e-Islami justifying the military action in East Pakistan . In his memorandum, he claimed that the Awami League movement had been launched under the influence of Hindu professors and Hindu Bengali literature.

In July, a Jamaat delegation headed by K J Murad was dispatched to Europe and the Middle East . The delegation visited the UK , Turkey , Lebanon , Saudi Arabia and some other countries to counteract pro-Bangladeshi propaganda.

Meanwhile, Jamaat delegations were dispatched to East Pakistan . In May 1971 the Jamaat general secretary himself accompanied Gen Umrao Khan on a visit to the province.

In June, the Jamaat's deputy leader Mian Tufail Mohammad himself visited East Pakistan . On his return, Mian Tufail urged the army to reconquer every inch lost to the enemy. He said there should be no delay in killing all those responsible for the armed revolt.

He blamed the elected Awami League MPs for the chaos. Saying that the by-elections in a few constituencies announced by the Yahya regime would not suffice, he demanded the dissolution of the East Pakistan assembly and fresh elections in the province to both the national and provincial levels.

However, in the farcical by-elections that followed – which the main party, the Awami League was banned from contesting – the Jamaat fielded 19 candidates and won five National Assembly seats.

To the Jamaat's credit, in the post-liberation period it was able to find itself a niche in Bangladeshi politics despite its role in the 1971 events. This was a repeat of its performance in Pakistan after independence, despite the fact that the Jamaat had opposed the creation of Pakistan .

The pattern in both countries has been similar. In Bangladesh the Jamaat allied itself with the military junta when Gen Ziaur Rehman came to power. Gen Zia, like his Pakistani namesake and counterpart, began to revise history and textbooks. His purpose was to minimise the role played by Sheikh Mujib in the movement and project his own imagined role in it. A revision of history equally suited the Jamaat.

The Awami League and the left forces, however, kept campaigning for a trial regarding atrocities in the 1971 war. In the last general elections, such a trial became an election issue. The Jamaat stood exposed and lost the elections.

A similar process is necessary everywhere including Pakistan to correct distortions of history. A 'Truth Commission' investigating not just the 1971 war but all the wars including the "Afghan jihad" and the "War on Terror", perhaps?

When repressive Hasina regime leaves all Awami Godfathers/Awami Judges/Awami Poloce/Awami RAb officials/Chatro League cadres will be arrested prosecuted for the greater interest of the people of Banglash.
Some even will be hanged in Public for murder and other serious crime. I request all foreign Embassies in Dhaka  (except Indian High Commission) not to issue visit visas to Awami Leaders and their benificieries who stole public money during Awami misrule.

Many thanks for updating us with Awami Activities. To be honest Bangladesh Awami League (BAL) is the most notorious political party in Bangladesh. I do not think BNP or any other opposition parties need to topple BAL, BAL will be toppled by their own people by inter clahing among themselves. The economic condition of Bangladesh is so critical now that the country's may collapse economically any moment. May Almighty helps us from this evil Awami forces.

Dear all,
For, especially all progressive minded people, it is crucial to be vigilant for all those hadith follower fanatic groups so that they cannot turn Bangladesh into Afghanistan. Those Taliban, Al-Qaeda, JMB, Jamat, IOJ etc. have same ideology, they are extremist hadith followers. The holy Quran never promotes violence and hatred towards any people. http://www.progressive-muslim.org/Freedom-of-Religion.htm
Those hadith followers extremist sometimes quote from the holy Quran as if they are Quran followers too but they are clearly Quran rejecters.
When Soviet troops left Afghanistan in 1989, different extremist hadith follower groups there started to fight and kill each other!! You might notice that in Bangladesh several hadith follower extremist groups exist (such as jamat, JMB, IOJ, chormonai pir group etc.)  and they hate each other very much!! So if we leave them alone when a favorable time for them will come, they will start to fight with each other and we all peace loving people can be in the midst of crossfire what exactly happened after leaving Soviet troops from Afghanistan in 1989.

So we must be careful vigilant for not only Jamat but also for all other extremist hadith follower groups in Bangladesh. Personally we donтЩt hate any human being regardless of oneтЩs religious believe but we cannot allow hadith followers extremists to compromise safely and security of any peace loving people. It is our social and humanistic duty to curb those fanatics. Those extremist hadith follower groups are the worst enemies of true Islam. They are tarnishing the image of Islam and Muslim so badly everywhere in the world.

Dear All,

October 28 , 2006 is a BLACK DAY to remember . On that day, the heinous :)) laughingJamat-Shibir in a planned way attacked the peace loving people of Bangladesh. With support of the 4 party alliance police forces , they created havoc and attacked the peaceful meeting of 14 party alliances with arms and lethal weapons. They did all these in the name of religion ! Their main goal was to destroy Bangladesh and creat another Afganishtan. Now time has come to wipe off Jamat-Shibir from Bangladesh . We don't have any place for Jamat-Shibir or any religious extremist groups in our beloved Country. Please watch the attached YouTube clips to know the true story of October 28, 2006.

[chottala.com] Bangladeshi voiceover request

Dear All,

I have got this email from Mr. Seth Tillman, which is self explanatory.

The Biscuit Factory, a television production company based in Falls Church, VA is producing a non-profit educational television show for the Discovery Channel Global Education Partnership. It is an organization that brings teacher training, technology and a DVD library of custom made programs to schools around the world (website: http://www.discoveryglobaled.org/).  For one of its shows, it is looking for a woman who can read a voiceover in English, but with a distinct Bangladeshi accent (the person certainly does not need to be a professional actress). The recording of the voiceover is expected to be no longer than 30 minutes, sometime in the next couple of weeks in the DC metro area.  We can offer $50 in exchange for this work.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Seth Tillman
Production Assistant

Sincerely,

Muhammad Nazmul Hoque
