Re: [chottala.com] Corruption in Bangladesh -- Wall Street Journal

It was not dream for creating Bangladesh that

A)    Some people to  be hanged  at Bangladesh India   border spring wires being killed by BSF

B)     Some people to be killed  by police and RAB

C)    Some people to be exported at outsider countries for doing works as maid servants of house to do dish washing toilet and road cleaning works as slave servants. And

D)    Some people to be richest doing corruption

The aim of creation Bangladesh was to establish socio-economical justice under lawful administration and lawful democracy.

It depends on establishing

a)     justice of law

b)    justice of human right and

c)     Justice of all people social security

By providing education shelter food and proper medical facility to all people of Bangladesh so that people of Bangladesh are not compelled to do illegal works for earning their food and living expenditure or they are not compelled to cross the country border for earning their food and shelter in other country.

The politicians of Bangladesh need to know that they are not efficient to ruling Bangladesh and need to learn for knowing

i)              What the problems to the people of Bangladesh? and

ii)             How can solve the problems of the people of Bangladesh?

Re: [chottala.com] BSF kills 193 Bangladeshis since Jan 2009

We all know you are a blind supporter of BAL and a pro Indian person thats why you are trying to justify the killing of Bangladeshi nationals by BSF. Crossing borders are not only done by Bangladeshis but also Indian nationals since there prevails illegal cross border trades. The poor traders are bound to do these for their livings in those areas. Surprisingly you seems to be talking like a illerate BSF jawan who says "why these people cross borders illegally?" But can you just shoot and kill a person like that?? And it is always the Bangladeshis who are being killed by BSF. Our BDR /BGD never killed any Indian for crossing border illegally. Does it mean that Indian never crosses border illegally?  Why do you compare BSF killing with domestic political killing. Do you know Logi Boytha killing done by your fellow butchers?? We all must agree that all killing of innocent people can not be justified by any reasons whether it is done by BSF, BAL, BNP of Jamatis. You are an educated engineer and we all pray to almighty God that you get a good common sense and can make correct judgment instead of being a blind supporter and justify innocent killings.

I condemn these inhuman killings by Indian BSF in the border.

But again condemning India for these inhuman killings – my questain why those (victims) fellow crossed or attempted to cross the Indian border illegally?

I also want to know:

  1. How many Bangalee were killed  during last Jamat - BNP era by BSF around the Bangladesh - India border?
  2. If yes, the why Jamat - BNP govt, their Ministers, leaders and their (overt and covert) supporters did not take any real action?
  3. Did the number of such fatal incidents and casualties were less or more?
  4. If number were more, then again why? And why Jamat - BNP govt, their Ministers, did not take any proper action?
  5. Why Jamat BNP govt, their Ministers, leaders and their (overt and covert) supporters did not raised their strong and deafening voices and did not demonstrate any genuine serious concern and appropriate & practical action during their era - against these inhuman killings?
  6. If number were less - then I strongly condemn present govt for improper actions to reduce it.
  7. What is our problem (except those culprits - who are engaged in illegal "cross border smuggling" and "human trafficking") -  if India erect barbed wire fence wall along border in their own land keeping appropriate distance from Bangladesh land?
  8. Finally why we would support and sympathize to these illegal "cross border smugglers" and "human trafficking" agents?

According to figures available with rights organisation Odhikar, 998 Bangladeshis were killed, 996 injured, 226 arrested, 957 abducted and 14 raped by BSF

India's Border Security Force has killed 193 and inured 200 Bangladesh citizens in the frontiers since January 6, 2009, when the Awami League-led alliance assumed office.

According to figures available with rights organisation Odhikar, 998 Bangladeshis were killed, 996 injured, 226 arrested, 957 abducted and 14 raped by BSF personnel or Indian hooligans and 107 went missing after being attacked allegedly by them between January 1, 2000 and August 31, 2011.

Of the victims, 75 were killed and 335 injured by the Indian civilians, while the BSF soldiers were the perpetrators for the rest of the victims.

Between January 6, 2009 and August 31, 2011, a total of 200 Bangladeshis were killed, 215 injured, 74 abducted and a woman was raped in the frontiers.Of the victims, 7 were killed and 15 injured by the Indian civilians while others were made victim by the BSF, the Odhikar report says.

The killing and other human rights violations by the BSF in the borders still go unabated despite repeated pledges made by the Indian authorities and calls by by different international organisations on the Indian government to stop such human rights violations.

New York-based Human Rights Watch in a statement on July 25 urged India to take a speedy, fair and transparent criminal investigation into fresh allegations of killings, torture and other abuses by the BSF in the border with Bangladesh.

The government of India should undertake a speedy, fair, and transparent criminal investigation into fresh allegations of killings, torture, and other abuses by the BSF in the border with Bangladesh, the statement said.

The call had coincided with India's ruling alliance leader Sonia Gandhi's brief tour of Dhaka to attend an international conference on autism.

In December 2010, the Human Rights Watch released a report, 'Trigger Happy,' documenting extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detention, torture and ill-treatment by the Indian border guards.

After the release of the report, Indian authorities assured Bangladeshi officials that such border killings would be stopped. The government announced that it would order restraint and encourage the use of rubber bullets instead of more lethal ammunition, the Human Rights Watch said in Monday's statement.

While the number of deaths by shooting has substantially decreased in 2011, the Bangladeshi rights watchdog Odhikar documented at least 17 killings of Bangladeshis by the BSF and other instances of severe abuse since January, the statement said.Local groups have documented several cases of deaths as a result of severe beatings by the BSF, the HRW said.

The Odhikar secretary, Adilur Rahman Khan, on Tuesday told New Age that the Bangladesh government must raise the issue during its formal talks with the visiting Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh and formulate an effective device to stop killing and other forms of human rights violations on the frontiers by Indians, especially the BSF.

[chottala.com] Wikileaks: Hasina showed character

Wikileaks

Hasina showed character

Leaked US cable discloses how she ignored intimidation, advice of colleagues to meet furious army officers at Darbar Hall couple of days after bloody BDR mutiny

HasinaDarbarHall.bmp
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina observes one minute's silence at a meeting with the senior army officers at Dhaka Cantonment on March 1, 2009 in memory of armed forces members killed during the BDR mutiny. On her left is the then chief of army staff General Moeen U Ahmed.Photo: PID

Defying suggestions from her senior cabinet colleagues, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended a gathering of about 500 army officers at Dhaka Cantonment immediately after the 2009 Pilkhana carnage to ultimately suffer repeated verbal abuse from some of the officers, a recently leaked US diplomatic cable said.

The grievance was so pressing that seven officers were dismissed later for "disrespectful conduct" in front of the PM on March 1. The prime minister reportedly ordered the officers' dismissal after the government received evidence that they continued to agitate against the civilian government in the months after the mutiny, according to the cable made public by anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks on August 30.

Mid- and senior-level army officers shouted at the PM and tore off insignia on their uniforms in protest of her handling of the BDR (now BGB) mutiny on February 25-26 in 2009 and showing anguish at the loss of their comrades.

"Although the meeting was closed to media, several sources said some officers demanded the removal of two senior government officials who led the negotiations with Bangladesh Rifles rebels, Home Minister Sahara Khatun and State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Jahangir Kabir Nanak. Some particularly agitated officers reportedly broke chairs and hit their heads against the wall during the meeting. Others demanded BDR rebels' trial convene immediately and those found guilty of murder be hanged in public," noted another cable.

Hasina was accompanied by her Security Adviser Maj Gen (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique and Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury during the two-and-a-half hours closed-door meeting.

Tarique said he recognised many diehard anti-Awami League officers among the crowd, many of whom appeared to be drawing from "talking points" in the session with Hasina. After an extremely hot exchange of words, the meeting ended more calmly with recitation of prayers.

The adviser was surprised to see the PM was not harmed.

The premier decided to face the army officers after taking a number of steps including formation of a special tribunal to immediately try murder suspect rebels, formation of a committee to probe the mutiny and cash grants to the families of the slain officers. These steps failed to calm the cantonment, mentioned the cable.

The cabinet urged the PM not to attend the meeting, Tarique told the US envoy in Dhaka.

Another leaked cable said Foreign Minister Dipu Moni admitted during her talks with Ambassador Moriarty that she and a number of her cabinet colleagues had not been comfortable with the decision to meet the army officers and had tried to convince the premier not to go.

"In response, the prime minister had told them she was not only the head of the government and defence minister, but also "daughter of the Father of the Nation," and as such had a duty to know the grievances of her people," reads the cable.

Many officers believed Hasina should have immediately ordered an army attack on the rebels instead of offering a general amnesty and expressing support for their grievances about pay, benefits and alleged corruption among the BDR's army leadership.

Most of the casualties occurred at the beginning of the revolt, and the PM has been credited by local media and the international community for avoiding further bloodshed.

In another cable on March 5 Moriarty noted that the March 1 meeting had appeared to dampen immediate concerns and anger in the army about the mutiny.

The PM's leadership during the crisis received broad public support. Military subservience to civilian control remains tenuous but has prevailed, at least for now, added the envoy.

"Hasina's dramatic appearance before hundreds of irate officers on March 1 appears to have eased at least some of the tension between the civilian government and the military officers shocked by the brutality of the deaths of their colleagues," Moriarty observed.

To assuage military anger, Hasina agreed to several demands including allowing the army to take a leading role in the hunt for the absconding mutineers.

While army chief Gen Moeen U Ahmed appeared to have consulted with the PM and followed her orders during the two-day ordeal, the relationship between her government and the military remained complex.

During a two-hour meeting at the PM's residence, Moeen and his senior colleagues briefed Hasina on complaints from within the army regarding the government response to the crisis.

In the mutiny's aftermath, many in the army also criticised Moeen for following PM's directives in handling the mutiny.

One of Moeen's last acts as the army chief was dismissing the seven officers for disrespectful conduct towards the PM.

Reaction within the army to the officers' dismissal was muted. Even among those who believed the punishment was too harsh, many apparently understood the dismissed officers had crossed the line with their behaviour in the meeting with Hasina.

Re: [chottala.com] Re: Falu earned crores of Taka through Khaleda AS 13.6.07.pdf - Adobe Acrobat Standard

Good day Engineer Saab,

I have few questions.

On what basis you are saying Amader Somoy is anti Awami League paper? So far the rumour goes it is DGFi sponsored paper especially It was during the Uddin's CTG.

If everything is true what came during that TF cell interrogation period then Jalil's and Sheikh Selim's confession should also be treated as authentic where they confessed about present PM's chadabazee from Bashundhora group, her consent on putting fire in the bus during hartal by Nanak and gong 17 innocent people were killed. These tapes were circulated to the public and still can be found on net.

We all know what happened during that illegal CTG period and present government quashed almost all the cases (though mostly of AL's) of that dark period.

If what Falu confessed during TF cell interrogation is true why don't present government pursue the case????

Engineer Saab, what you are trying to probe by attaching a more than 4 years old paper clip????

Please talk about what's happening in Bangladesh presently, discuss Teesta debacle what went wrong? How our Foreign Minister says in press conference that, Teesta deal will be signed,
What can be done to improve our road communication????
Quoting your dialogue
"Sustha thakon, nirapade thakon ebong valo thakon"

please say something constructive to vindicate your above quote and stop washing others dirty linen in public.

Thanks

[chottala.com] BSF kills 193 Bangladeshis since Jan 2009

Indian BSF kills 193 Bangladeshis since Jan 2009

[chottala.com] Sheikh Hasina's Brother-in-Law Usurps Malaysian Power Plant Project in Bangladesh

Weekly Blitz
Malaysian project grabbed by
Bangladeshi PM's brother in law

by News Desk

August 30, 2011

When Bangladesh is facing severe electricity crisis for years, a power plant in private sector established by a Malaysian company named Westmont Group has allegedly been grabbed by the husband of the younger sister of Bangladeshi Prime Minister, causing suspension of production. This 90-megawatt unit of Baghabari power plant came into operation in 2004. Westmont Group, a multi-national independent power producer [IPP], established this new barge mounted unit as an extension of its previous 90 MW simple cycle plant. This had been the first agreement signed between the PDB and an IPP for setting up a new unit of power plant during the previous BNP led coalition government.

Dato Sri Joseph Chong, managing director of Westmont Power [Bangladesh] Limited submitted a written complaint on August 17, 2011 to Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and sent copy of this letter to all major news agencies and newspapers in the world, as well as Country Representative, World Bank; Country Representative, UNDP; Country Representative, Asian Development Bank and all foreign missions in Bangladesh.

In the mentioned letter to Bangladeshi Prime Minister, titled "Forced occupation of Westmont Power [Bangladesh] limited", Dato Sri Joseph Chong wrote:

"Kindly note, that some people, who are close relatives of your kind self, under the direct patronization of Prof. Shafique Ahmed Siddique [House #1 , Road#127, Gulshan 1, Dhaka] the husband of Sheikh Rehana and brother of the Defence Advisor to Your Kindself, have forcefully taken over our company, Westmont Power [Bangladesh] Limited [WPBL]; including our office in Dhaka and the barge mounted power plant at Baghabari in phases by fabricating and falsifying documents. Their botched and forced takeover has resulted in the complete shutdown of the power plant at Baghabari.

"Prof. Shafique Ahmed Siddique, who believes in the LAW OF THE JUNGLE, is being assisted in this dirty act, by Mr. Hasan Mahmood Raja of United Group and Mr. Md. Haroon Ar-Rashid. All ownership documents they are showing to Ministry, BPDB, courts etc are false and fabricated.

"Hon. Prime Minister, in the present circumstances only your direct intervention can save the situation and bring a lawful and legal conclusion to the problem. We request your kind instruction to Bangladesh Power Development Board [BPDB] to stop all dealings with Mr. Hasan Mahmood Raja and Mr. Md. Haroon Ar-Rashid AND all payments to WPBL with immediate effect; Failing which Your Honorable kind self and Your Government will be responsible for all consequences thereof.

"Despite the totally false and fabricated nature of their claims - but as Prof Shafiq Ahmed Siddique is the husband of your only sister, Sheikh Rehana and brother of your Defence Advisor, therefore I think it will be fair to order an international arbitration [or a court action] in London, United Kingdom to verify their claims of ownership if any. Kindly also note that Your Government and BPDB is bound by international laws because of the sovereign guarantees furnished by Government of Bangladesh to WPBL, therefore it is pertinent that BPDB and your Government should stop dealing with the disputants until the matter is resolved."

This is for the first time, since Bangladesh Awami League formed government under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, any foreign investor has submitted complaint with such serious allegation against a family member of the Prime Minister.

It may be mentioned here that, chairman of Westmont Power [Bangladesh] Limited, Kazi Tajul Islam Faruk lodged an extortion case on April 9, 2007 against Sheikh Hasina, during the military controlled interim government's rule. Later, immediately after Bangladesh Awami League came in power, Faruk was sacked from the board of directors of the company on January 5, 2009. It was later revealed that, former chief of Bangladesh Army, General Moeen U Ahmed used Kazi Faruk Ahmed in lodging a hurriedly false accusation against Sheikh Hasina. In exchange of lodging the false case, Kazi Tajul took lots of undue benefits from the military controlled regime during 2007-2008. When remaining directors as well the foreign investors of Westmont Group came to know about the wrongdoings of Kazi Tajul Islam, they unanimously decided to remove him from the board of directors of the company.
