[chottala.com] Fw: CONGRATULATIONS:Fazle Hasan Abed honoured-Nation Proud of him!

Mr. FAZLE Hasan Abed, founder & chairperson of BRAC, has been a name that we have duly been proud of. He is a visionary whose relentless efforts and innovative ideas have changed life in many ways as far as the poor in our country, and beyond, are concerned. It is great news that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth of Britain has taken note of Mr. Abed's services to humanity and decided to knight human honour bestowed upon only truly remarkable personalities. Needless to say, Mr. Abed belongs to that rare genre of committed human beings who love to work for the less fortunate, happily and selflessly.

BRAC now is the biggest NGO in the world working in no fewer than three continents. That alone tells Mr. Abed's success story rather convincingly. He has been able to bring about a quiet revolution.

The challenge of alleviating poverty in Bangladesh must have been alarming one in the early 1970s. BRAC has shown the way to millions of rural poor and instilled in them the confidence to come out of the vicious poverty cycle which was a stumbling block in the way of development. But men like Mr. Abed never give up. He has proved that concerted and planned action can help overcome the biggest odds. BRAC is now globally recognized as a pioneer of poverty alleviation. He has shown that Bangladesh can indeed be a model to all developing and underdeveloped countries fighting poverty.

The fields in which BRAC works are many and all of them have been selected in light of our socio-political needs. For example, BRAC's non-formal primary education programme, which targets the under-privileged children, expanded to a point where it had 37,500 primary schools in June 2008 and it continues to grow. Its public health care programme is now a major service provider in the health sector for more than 92 million people. The programme includes some vital components like immunization and services for mothers. The immunization drive has been a huge success.

The recognition given to Mr. Abed once again reminds us that dedication, commitment and integrity are always rewarded in the long run. When BRAC started in 1972, it was a modest beginning for the organisation. But Mr. Abed's leadership and guidance has elevated it to the position that it has now. We CONGRATULATE Mr. Abed on his being honoured by Her Majesty and believe that it will only further boost his determined spirit of working for our collective good.

[chottala.com] Re: AN ILLUSTRATED HISTORY OF BANGABANDU AND BANGLADESH

For establishin Banangali Nationalism in one nation one country all Bangla speaking people should be united.
The real fact is that most of BAL leaders did not know the real History of Indian territory.
The leaders of BAL were guided by under ground Hindu Activists who were low caste & educated low qualities as low caste minded in Hindu culture & not possess good qualities of humanity..
BAL leaders were also most of them not properly well educated & a lot of them not born in well educated quality Muslim family & most of them were illiterate or little literate which education does not provide them correct understanding idea in their knowledge to understand the idea which were given them by under ground low qualities low caste Hindu activists Advisors.
Now it is the time for the members of the traditional well educated qualities Muslim Family to join at BAL & to do the politics of BAL Ideology for making BAL party as well educated quality Party...

They should not & must not now think to do the politics the Ideology of Mr. Jinnah.  Mr. Jinaah is now out & past. All Muslim leaders in Bangladesh should now try to understand that  2 Nations Theory was not for the interest of Muslim people in Indian territory It was really for the interest of Hindi & Urdu languages  & it was  invented by Mr. Neheru. Mr. Jinnah was used in front line to misguide the foolish & illiterate stupid Muslim people in the name of 2 Nations Theory. The people of Bengal should now understand not be stupid idiot,
We must remember that we were the citizens of Bangle Bihar Urissa as one country since Nowab Musheed Koli Khan.
We are all Bengalis ex citizens of Bangle Bihar Urissa country. Our Nationalism is Bengalis. Our Great leaders are Mr. Pronob Mukkarjee Momotaj Banarjee Mr. Joti Bose Babu Bhuddu dev Bose Madam Hassina Madam Shajeda Choowdhury Mr. Rashed Khan Menon Madam Motia Chowdhury & others we have liberated Bangladesh from the control of Urdu speaking people. The great guidance of Indian leadership & practical helping of Indian then Government in 1971 under the political party Awami League Bangladesh is liberated. We are very very very grateful to Indian Government for helping us in 1971 Liberation War.
We are now fully faithful to the Ideology Nationalism Socialism Secularism & Democracy of BAL party & we respect the Great Leadership of Indian Government.

According to Ideology of BAL Nationalism now our duty is to liberate the land & the area where our Bangle Speaking People are living under the control of Hindi language..
It is therefore very hopeful that the Indian great leadership would be kind enough to liberate the area & the land where Bangle speaking people could not speak in Bangle as their state language & are being controlled by Hindi language
To help them as they helped us in 1971 for liberation East Pakistan from control of Urdu language to liberate the people in India where Bangle speaking people are living in India & are being controlled by Hindi language.
Madam Sheik Hasina Prime Minister of Bangladesh & the leader of Bengalis Nation are advised together with other Bengal leaders for talking on that issue to Indian Government authority when she visits India...

Dear Belal Beg:
First Happy New Year to you and to the rest of the readers.
I would like state to you that the premise of my research is that fascism is against any democratic development. It doesn't allow opposition to its ideas and it uses violence in politics. Please check the Italian and the Spanish variety.Surprisingly Mujib had somuch similarities with those.  It works on the concept of ownership/ father and its followers as the children concept. My research was specifically about Mujib's use of violence in politics which we have seen led to further bloodbath to his own death and the unrest/ anger still continues. If circumstances made him a statesman he would be a Nelson Mendala or Gandhi who would have preched reconcilliation and nonviolence in Bangladesh politics. But Mujib's upbringing made him a musleman and the killer of Bangladesh's infant democracy. .In dealing with this topic I have used examples, references, and the necessary online liks, reading questions for further research. But unlike a regular book here I have used a nontraditional approach: a book of pictures/ I have used illustrations. But this is not altogether uncommon in the West.

As you have noticed I was clearly against Mujib's brand of South Asian Fascism which I can predict it will continue to hunt Bangladesh for years to come. He was truly a very powerful fascist. We should all be against irrationalism, an academic responsibility Drs or Mr/s alike. So in no way attacking fascism is unethical. On record I was a once a devotee of Mujib, later on of Moni Sing Communist Party supporter. I went to India on foot for 17 days for trainning crossing the Chittagong Hill Tracts to Mizooram. Several times I was about to be killed by the razakars. If they had good aim, at this moment I wouldn't be writing this reply to you. So I don't fit in your categorization and intolerance. However, I must say that I am sorry to cause annoyance to your devotion to the leader. This is exacly what I had expected from some readers because I hurt in the sickness called hero-worshiping disease. Hero-worshipping is an irrational thing. But with a Ph.D. and as a believer of rationality and with some love for the country I left permanently unlike many fibble-minded followers of Bangabandu I was not vassilating. If you don't know yet please let me inform you that hero-worshipping is a disease in the followers of fascist leaders. After this explanation, if you have a little more patience please check my revised version of the book.  But I thank you very much for your response.
Kind Regards
Abid Bahar

Dr. Abid,
I had started to read your interestingly presented book on Bangabandhu. You know, these days reading materials pour in like torrential rains. Obviously you don't read them all. You pick and choose. A Dr. before your name enticed me to read your book. I, as an ordinary man, naturally expected scholarly work from a scholar. But you shocked me in the very first page when you referred to a film to describe Sheikh Mujib's tricky ways to avert crisis. I was impelled to stop there as I figured out you will write everything yellow because you are Jaundiced. The theame you are out to elucidate, was possibly best published in a major UK Daily after Mujib's return to Bangladesh. The caption of the story was ' Sheikh Mujib, a Statesman or a village headman'.
From your organization of the book, interpretation of photographs and facts, one can very easily find out it is a Bihari or Punjabi or Moududi interpretation of the history of Bangladesh. These people could never fathom out why the Bengalis were so crazy about their language, culture, equal human rights and democratic rule. Entire history of the growth of modern Bengali nationalism centers round those fundamental themes of civilized life. As a freeman, you have the right to call an one eye blinded boy lotus-eyed or spade a spade or a piece of rope a snake but that does not affect the world. However by trying to daemonise Sheikh Mujib whom BBC's survey found out to be the greatest Bengali in history, you have resduced yourself to the pitiable level of one Rintu who wrote a book named 'Amaaar fanshi chai' to black paint Sheikh Hasina. This does not go with the responsibility and ethical norms of PhD. Again, your evalution of Mujib has not added any thing new. You will come across a Naigra of such tirades against Mujib in the Pakistani media over the last four decades. But nothing could touch the height of Mujib. Inspite of his short comings Sheikh Mujib is the Statue of Liberty for the Bengali Nation. It is a pity you can't see it.
Thank you for your time.
Belal Beg

Mr. Aslam

Hi all

Jafor Ali Khan (Mir Jafor) was the experience & cool brain wise person. But Siraj was inexperience & knowledge less young hot brain Nowab If Mr. Mir Jafor (Mir Jafor Ali Khan) did not part against hot brain Nowab Siraj in Polish war then still whole India would rule by the Nowab Badsha like Middle East & Afghanistan. Still the state languages  whole India would remain Farsi & Urdu. Still whole India would rule by Rajakar & Albadar Alshams.

Actually Mir Jafor Ali Khan is the real father of democracy in Bangladesh India & Pakistan

Bangladesh India could never get Independence as democratic country. So it can be told that

Mir Jafor Ali Khan is the great grand father of Sonar Bengal.& India

Comparing Mr. Mujib with Mr. Siraj Uddullaw is a stupid & foolish work of the idiot people because. Mr. Siraj was not the public leader & not the public politician. He was the grand son of Nowab Ali Bordi Khan & he became nowab as inherit. But Mr. Sheik Mujib was not grand son of any Nowab He was the people's leader & people' politician He became president of People's Republic Bangladesh elected by the mass people of Bangladesh not became Nowab as inherit of any Nowab.

AGC has written Drama polasi teka danmodindi comparing mujib with siraj as because he is a number one short knowledge person. So he does not know & does not understand what the fundamental difference between mujib & siraj. & he does also not understand& has no idea

What contribution was given by Mr Mir jafor not supporting siraj in polashi war? He did not realize that Nowab Siraj could not speak in Bengal. His mother tongue was Farsi. If Mir Jafor Ali Khan did support Mr. Siraj in Polashi War then still the state languages in whole India would remain Farsi & Urdu under the control of Rajakars Albadar & Alshams. He (ACG in London) could never write in Bangla.

My view is that if the political leaders do not follow the rules of law according to the system of lawful democracy as lawful wise parliamentarians, if the political party becomes the party of person command party, if the politicians make the politics as professional business sector & if the politicians do politics not for the interest of the people but for interest of their own then any powerful person may in power as in the formula of might is right or by hook & by crook. To earn or to do powerful execution as rules of power might is right & makes the politics difficult & complex for the politicians.
Either may Zia Earshad or May Ayub Khan comes again & again never come Bil Clinton or Barrack Obama
So it needs to think to the people who are thinking themselves as politicians to do politic  is  required first to establish lawful honest administration under the system of lawful democracy Government for ruling the country by lawful parliamentarian politicians.
Other wise Major Zia in the names Fakkuruddin Ahmed Moin Uddin Ahmed will come again & again to teach them (the politicians) for learning & to know what the politics is.
.
Mr. Zia is the inspiration & will come again & again for retailing the administration.
 Causes

1)       When the dishonest & inefficient political leaders & the politicians become failure to do lawful honest politics

2)       When they are unable to rule the country lawfully & honestly

3)       When the politicians start destroying works breaking works burning works hartal & public property looting works & derailing the normal administration. for power & to stay in power

4)       When the politicians creates people's disaster by killing people & by destroying people's property  major Zia  in the name moin  or any other name will come again & again to save the people to save the nation from the hands of dishonest corrupted politicians.

Ms Dina Khan

You seem to be indoctrinated by the Ayub Khan's even
worse, Iskender Mirza's [a decendent of your favorite
Icon Mir Zafor Ali Khan] ideas.

The military is no less corrupt, dishonest & inefficient
than the politicians ... they breed in the same soil.

The historical processes have to understood in the
proper context ..... neither Siraj nor Mujib became a
puppet in the hands of the foreigners. It does not
matter if Siraj spoke Bengla or not ... we didn't
become a seperate nation because of the ethnic
rivalary between the nationalities but because of
economic expolitation by the military-feudal
complex and the vested interest the ruling junta
of the Pakistan represented [ that later developed
into MilBus - read Ayesha Siddiqua Aga]

If you are right then your Moeen U. would have
been the president and the kings party leader
Ferdous Qureshi would have been the prime minister
in today's Bangladesh. And the people
of Bangladesh would be eating potatoes as their
staple food ...

Oh yes, I am sure Zia is inspiration to many of the armed
forces personels  .... but do these shrewed ambitious
"saviors" have any choice? The world has changed.
It is a new world .....and the shrewed saviors know
that they have no chance .... they can only dig their
own grave ...... that  time (the rise of Zia) it ended
up in a TRAGEDY, if the history repeats, second time
it will end up in a FARCE.......

The history is always on the march in it's own zikzak path.
....but in the long run it marches forward  ...Bangladesh
is no exception [Did anyone expected in 1980s that
Bangobondhu's killers will ever be put to gallows ....
Just hold your breath and wait......
............ .may be, another fifty days ....
On  the ground in mimic actions will mould
the nations destiny ..... ..
This is the wonder, always, everywhere--
Not that vast mutability which is event,
The pits and pinnacles of change ......

BTW, don't you see how the Military Junta in
Pakistan turns the nation into a fiasco over and
over, again and again ..... The Izlamic Refublic
of Fakistan is very close to be failed state ....
Do you want that for Bangladesh ..??????

Thanks for your patience.

Re: [chottala.com] FW: Bangla Bihar Urissa - one country before.

Dear Chottala Readers

Bangla, Bihar, & Urisssa was never one country ... These regions were
under one ruler, even that was only for about 43 years (1717-1751).

Maratha Rule: Orissa was subsequently ceded to the Maratha in 1751,
when Nawab Alivardi Khan had to buy peace from Maratha by allowing
concessions. [Recall  Borgi Domon by Alivardi Khan - 'Borgis' was the
term given to bands of Maratha plunderers who extorted revenue from the
villages in suba Bangla.
Related Bangla lulabai song:
Chele ghumalo para juralo
Borgi elo deshe.
Bulbulite dhan kheyeche
Khajna debo ke'she!
Dhan furalo, pan furalo
Abar debo ki?
Ar ko'ta din shobur koro --
Roshun bunechi.
relates to these maratha bandits]
 [Marathas in Bengal 1731-1760]

As a matter of fact, during Nawab Siraj-ud-Daulah's reign (April 4,1756 to
July 2, 1757) the Orissa was not under the control of Murshidabad
(as such the verbage "Bangla, Bihar, ar Orissa-r Sesh Shadhin Nawab
is a little  mismomer later introduced by Bengali nationalist historians
and  by D.L. Roy in his epoch-making Drama SirajuDollah )

Bihar was conceded to the British after in the Battle of Buxer
in  1764 by Mir-Qasim who earlier shifted his capital to Munger
from Murshidabad.

Background of Murshidabad Nawabs:

Initially,t Murshid Quli Khan was the Subahdar of Orissa and Nazim of
Bengal. Murshid Quli Khan was grandson of famous maratha general
Mohammed Quli Khan (formerly Netaji Palkar)
Murshid Quli Khan was gradually consolidating his position. In 1717,
he renamed his capital city from Makhsusabad to Murshidabad
(after himself). The then Mughal Emperor Farrukh Siyar granted formal
approval to this (symbolic) change of name, paving the way for Murshid
Quli Khan to become the de-facto Nawab of Bengal.
After the Battle of Buxer in 1764, which was fought in Buxer 115 km from
Patna, the Mughals as well as the Nawabs of Beengal lost effective control
over the territories then constituting the province of Bengal, which currently
comprises the Indian States of West Bengal, Bihar, Jarkhand, Orissa
and Bangladesh. The British East India Company was accorded the rights,
that is, the right to administer the collection and management of revenues
of the province of Bengal, and parts of Oudh, currently comprising a large
part Uttor Prodesh. The diwani rights were legally granted by Shah Alam
who was then the sovereign Mughal emperor of India. During the rule of
the British East India Company in Bihar, Patna emerged as one of the
most important commercial and trading centers of eastern India, preceded
only by Calcutta (now Kolkata)..
In 1765 the East India Company obtained the Dewani of Sube Bangla from the Mughal Emperor Shah Alam. From now on the Nawabs remained as mere pensioners of the British.

The Nawabs of Bengal
Murshid Quli Khan (1717-1727) Shuja-udpDin Mohammad Khan (1727-1739) Sarafaraz Khan (1739-1740) Alivardi Khan  (1740-1756) Siuraj-ud-Daula  (1756-1757) Mir Jafor Ali Khan  (1757-1760) Mir Qasim  (1760-1763) Mir Jafor Ali Khan  (1763-1765) Najimuddin Ali Ahan  (1765-1766) Najabut Ali Khan  (1766-1770) Ashraf Ali Khan  (1770-1770) Mubaraq Ali Khan  (1770-1793) Baber Ali Khan (1793-1810) Zainal Abedin Ali Khan (1810-1821) Ahmed Ali Khan  (1821-1824) Mubarak Ali Khan II (1824-1838) Mansur Ali Khan (1838-1880 abdicated)
Murshid Quli Khan (1706-1725 AD), the first of the Nawabs, became the Subedar of Bengal in 1717; he reigned over Bengal, Bihar and Orissa from his capital Murshidabad (Moor-shi-da- bad) with only a nominal allegiance to the Mughal Emperor.
Suja-ud-Din (1725-1739 AD) alias Suja Khan son-in-law of Murshid Quli Khan succeeded after Murshid Quli Khan's death. Shuja Khan was a charitable, just and impartial ruler, and gave great encouragement to learning.  He was also a patron of art and culture. After his death in 1739 AD he was buried in Roshni Bagh ( garden of lights ) near Farah Bagh. Suja-ud-Din died in 1739 and his son Sarafraj Khan ascended the throne.
Sarafraz Khan (1739-1740 AD) was a man of valour and of religion temperament. He received the imperial title of "Motamul-ul-Mulk, Alauddowla, Hyder Jang ( Guardian of the country, promoter of the State, Lion in War )". His short career ended in 1740 AD only after 13 months of reign when he was defeated at the battle of Giria on 9th April 1740 AD by Alivardi Khan.
Alivardi Khan (1740-1756), then the Governor of Patna, got the Sanad as Subedar of Sube Bangla and became the Nawab by defeating and killing Sarfaraz in 1740 and ruled for 16 years thereafter. Though an efficient ruler, he had to face continual attacks by the Maratha and rebellion by the Afghans. He had to buy peace from the Maratha by allowing concessions. He maintained good relationships with the Europeans but did not allow them to increase their military power. Alivardi received the imperial title of "Suja-ul-mulk, Hasem-ud-daulla, Mahabat Jang ( Hero of the Country, Sword of the State, Horror in War )" .
Siraj-ud-Doula (1756-57), the favourite grandson of Alivardi, ascended the throne on the death of Alivardi. The young Sultan faced the two-pronged trouble of the ambitions of the increasingly powerful British and the intrigue of his disgruntled relatives and bureaucrats.
Mir-Jafar (1757-1760 AD and 1763-1765 AD) was incompetent ruler even as a puppet. The British replaced him with his son-in-law Mir-Qasim in 1760 on account of non-payment of dues. Mir-Qasim paid the dues off but started to show signs of independence. He shifted his capital to Monghyr in Bihar and tried to reorganise his own army. The British did not approve of this and defeated Mir-Qasim in the Battle of Buxar in 1764.Mir-Qasim  was a man of strong passions as well as of resolution. He received the title of "Nasir-ul-Mulk, Etmaz-ud-Daulla, Ali Jah, Nasrut Jang ( Victor of the Country, Politician of the State, of high rank, Victorious in War )"  Mir-Jafar regained the crown. He died the following year. This was followed by a number of Nawabs in succession who were merely puppets.
Najam-ud-Doula (1756-1766 AD): After the death of Mir-Jafar, "Shuja-ul-Mulk, Najam-ud-Daulla, Mahabat Jang ( Hero of the Country, Star of the State, Horror in War )" Nawab Najam-ud-Doula the son of Mir-Jafar became the Nawab of Bengal, only at the age of 15. He used to get a pension of Rs 53, 86, 161 per annum. On the 8th of May of the 1766 AD Najam-ud-Doula died of fever caught at a party given in honor of Clive on his way through Murshidabad to Lucknow,  and was buried in Jafarganj Mokbara on the west of Mir Jafar's grave.

Saif-ud-Doula (1766-1770 AD): After the death of Najam-ud-daulla, his younger brother "Syef-ul-Mulk, Shuja-ud-Daulla, Shahmat Jang ( Sword of the Country, Hero of the the State, Arrow in War )" Nawab Saif-ud-Doula was placed on the Throne at an age of 17 years. He used to get a pension of Rs 41,86,131 per annum. In 1769, a great epidemic of small pox raged in Murshidabad and one of the victims being Nawab Saif-ud-Doula himself. After the death of Saif-ud-Doula Mubarak-ud-Doula another son of Mir-Jafar ascended the throne at the age of 17 only. He died  in 1793 AD and was succeeded by his sonBabar Ali who reigned till 1810 AD. He received the imperial title of "Nasir-ul-Mulk, Azud-ud-Daulla, Delar Jang ( Helper of the Country, Arrow of the State, Brave in War )". after Babar-Ali his eldest son Zainuddin Ali Khan, known as Ali Jan became the nawab.  On 6th August 1821 Ali-Jah died after prolonged illness. Syud Ahmed Ali Khan, known as Wala Jah, second son of Babar Ali, succeeded  the Throne on the death of his brother, Ali Jah, in 1821 AD.
Humayun Jah (1824-1838 AD) : Mubarak Ali Khan, better known as Humayun Jah, ascended the Throne of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa after the death of his father, Wala Jah, in 1824 AD. He received the imperial title of "Shuja-ul-Mulk, Ihtisham-ud- Daulla, Humayun Jah, Feroze Jang ( Hero of the Country, Dignifier of the Country, of auspicious rank, Victor in War )". The present Palace of Hazarduari was erected during his reign, and miniature of it in ivory, prepared by Sagore Mistri, together with portraits of His Highness and his son and other presents were sent to King William IV, who honored the Nawab with the present full size portrait of His Majesty and an autograph latter and conferred upon him the badge and insignia of the Royal Guelphic and Hanoverian order, still preserved in the Palace. Humayun Jah died on the 3rd October, 1838 AD, leaving behind him his son, Mansur Ali Khan alias Feradun Jah and his Daughter Sultana Ghetiara Begam.
Feradun Jah (1838-1881 AD): Syud Mansur Ali Khan, known as Feradun Jah,  succeeded his father, Humayun Jah, while yet a minor and only eight years old, on 1838 AD. Feradun Jah founded the Nizamat School and the Nizamat College, now known as the Nawabs high School and the Nawabs Madrassa, respectively. He died on the 5th of  November, 1884 AD. Nawab Ali Kadr Syud Hassan Ali Meerza Bahadur who succeeded his father, Feradun Jah, the last Nawab Nazim of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa, on his retirement in 1880 AD, was born on the 25th of August 1846 AD.

Dear chottala readers,

I fully agree with dina khan about her/his viewpoint that Bangla, Bihar, Urissa was combindly one country before ruled by Nowab Siraj Uddowllah. First British people under the notorious trader Robert Clive took our country from Nowab Siraj Udoowllah. Now India kept Bihar and Urissa under their occupation. The suggestion put forward by dina khan is a right suggestion as the whole of this Bangla, Bihar, Urissa should not be ruled now by Delhi or Pindi. Bihar and Urissa should be out from the controlling of Delhi and should be with Bangladesh to make their original Bangla Bihar Urissa as one country.

dina khan rightly says "It now should be ruled from Dhaka or Morshidabad under one central Parliamentarian Government CONSIDERING BANGLA BIHAR & URISHA as Provincials states of Bengal Bihar Urisha country with THE PROVINCIAL CAPITALS at KOLKHATA, PATNA & URIA ruling under the central Parliamentarian Government from Dhaka or Mushidabad".

Dowllah.
