World Bank President
PM made proposal to ridicule Yunus
Says Fakhrul
Staff Correspondent
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday said the prime minister's proposal for Prof Muhammad Yunus to be World Bank chief was made to ridicule him. "World Bank has a constitution. Usually American or Canadian citizens can be elected as the chief of this organisation. the prime minister knows it well, but she made the proposal only to mock Prof Yunus," he said while talking to reporters after placing wreaths at the grave of former president Ziaur Rahman. The BNP leader went there to pay homage with the newly nominated leaders of his party's Pabna district unit. Earlier on Wednesday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made the proposal when a delegation of the European parliament met her. Mirza Fakhrul also criticised her for saying that it is not possible to provide security in anyone's bedroom. Law and order has deteriorated to such a level that journalists are not safe even at their own houses, he said. Replying to Sheikh Hasina's allegation that the opposition party wants to assume power through dubious paths, he said BNP always came to power through democracy. The BNP leader said their demand to restore caretaker government system achieved huge support at both home and abroad. "People will reply to our demand on March 12," he said.

Re: [chottala.com] Ruling party tries to capture everything: Ex-CEC

Sheik Sb. did politics and broke Pakistan for lawful democracy social justice economical justice and human justice to all people of Bangladesh.
He was a leader of confirm faithful on his own Ideology.
Due to his long political experience in Bangladesh politics, seen experiences of Bangladesh politicians' activities resulted in formation his thoughtful latest ideological policy BKSAL to make success his principle
   A)     Social justice
B)     Economical justice
C)     Democracy justice in lawful system to elect people's representative in corruption free election to do politics for justice humanity to all people in Bangladesh as elected politicians.
It is very regretful and shameful matter that his followers BAL politicians (elected - unelected) and mustang cadres (not people's elected) BCL BSL did not try to understand his latest Ideological policy
I)          BKSAL was a discipline system of corruption free election  to elect people's representative politicians in lawful system democracy to do lawful politics for people of Bangladesh
ii)    BKSAL was a lawful system of discipline administration policy to rule Bangladesh under people's elected politicians of lawful people's representative administration
Rather thought to follow his Ideological principle  than BAL  politicians  wearing sleeveless black coats, uttering Jay Bangla and Jay Bangobhundu were busy to make  money and power.
To get more facility  at the end they killed him brutally so that their looting activities can be more free in open market field.
Corrupt Politicians naming freedom fighters have made now Bangladesh a hell country for the innocent people  also  they have made Bangladesh a safe Heaven country for (corrupt people, corrupt politicians and corrupt government employees) to looting people's money and every thing to make the people everything less.
It is still continuing on and now they (elected and unelected)are using mustang cadres (not public elected) BCL, BSL and other latels  to do looting extorting works  for money building  sonar digital bangle and to making people everything less and to cross them border for food  to be killed by Indian BSF.

Ruling party tries to capture everything
Ex-CEC critical of democracy Bangladesh style
Staff Correspondent
The type of democracy practised in Bangladesh is something vulgarised by the ruling party, which encourages black money and muscle power in the absence of the rule of law. ATM Shamsul Huda, the immediate past chief election commissioner, said this yesterday, adding that electoral democracy does not necessarily mean a complete democracy as every time the poll winner tries to take all. "Instead of building up institutions, they [the ruling party], in most cases, try to destroy institutions like the Election Commission and the judiciary," he said. "They also try to politicise the bureaucracy, police, administration and, dangerously, the military." Sometimes, they even scrutinise the Public Service Commission's recommendations, he said. "Such was not possible even in the Pakistan period." The rule of law is something of fundamental importance, he observed. Every citizen has a right to file cases with police stations. But often police do not want to record cases. Shamsul Huda was addressing a book launch and a seminar on "India-Bangladesh-Myanmar Relations: Challenges for Mutual Development" at Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) in Dhaka. The book, "Democracy in Bangladesh: Political Dimensions of National Development", a compilation of papers, has jointly been edited by Zillur R Khan and Syed Saad Andaleeb. At the seminar, eminent jurist and former foreign minister Dr Kamal Hossain said money has destroyed democracy in Bangladesh. "Electoral democracy has fallen sick in the country," he said. "There is a security problem for people in the absence of the rule of law in this country. We do not want to see impunity enjoyed by some of the people," he said. "The system is like a democratisation of corruption." Forty years into independence is enough time to establish the rule of law in the country and yet the political parties are still urging the people to wait, wait and wait, he said. Echoing the views of Huda, Dr Kamal said the ruling party wants to control everything, even the police, military, media and administration. As the chief guest, Prof Rehman Sobhan, chairman of Centre for Policy Dialogue, said four free and fair elections were held in Bangladesh. And this is a reflection of the country's making significant progress in democratic practice. In terms of economic and human development, Bangladesh has made advances among South Asian countries, he said. BEI President Farooq Sobhan moderated the programme. Scholars, academicians, researchers and diplomats attended the book launch.
