One person can not do such a big thing. It was a result of a chain reaction of events:
Bengal began to emerge from the partition movement led by Sir Salimullh.
East Bengal later joined Pakistan. If it didn't join with Pakistan it wouldn't have become Bangladesh.
The premir of Assam once said that one Bhasani was enough to destroy two Pakistan. Bhasani's autonomy demand, breaking the 144 that led to the 21st Feb event (Mujib was in jail during this time), Bhasani founding Ittifaq, Awami League, two strong institutions that allowed Mujib to come up Bhasani's autonomy demand in the 6 point and work on it, Bhasani's movement to release Mujib from Agartala conspiracy case, Bhutto's denial to transfer power, Mujib's 7th March speech and what was left was for Indra to cut a thin skin connecting the body of part Pakistan which was cut and seperated by Indra. Well, yes and no, I would say she helped in the process.
During the liberation war I was in Mizooram, I saw half burned big trees by the roadside. We had to have pass to go from the tent to the bazar. Mizoos are required to carry pass for travelling as well. I asked local people what happened here? They said, when Mizoos rebelled, Indra sent Indian air force and did crpet bombing. Indra was called by Nixon a witch. I wouldn't say that.
At the camp, as Bengalis demanded ration/food and blanket, Indian army arrested them and put in the open sky bazar in rain water. If a person said a small thing against India, the next day you see the person in jail. There were spies everywhere. So you know why this Sri Moti helped. She helped herself and her country.
In 1971 we went to India for trainning but we were given trainning only how to use rifle without the use of ammunition. This is to make sure that there is no confusion of our fire with the rebel's. India's human rights violations in these occupied regions are not regularly reported to the international media.
Indra Gandhi couldn't help establish Bangladesh alone.
