Bangladeshi boys as Cricketer.
Cricket of Bangladesh in international level our boys did get a chance to play after the liberation of Bangladesh. Before during Pakistan time only the West Pakistani boys used to get chances to play cricket in international level. From the then East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) not a single boy were given a chance to play cricket internationally. They used to tell Bangladeshi boy are so small they cannot even carry the weight of the bat.
For the first time after the 1965 war with india they came to understand our Bengali people also have got a garth to show their ability in many sphere. Because in 1965 war our airforce pilot fought valiantly and in one combat operation our squadron leader Alam fell down 11 Indian fighter plane in a single operation. From that time they came to understand that, figure is not the only factor but the brain also have got a trmendous role and they agreed our Bengali people have got enough brain to handle any situation.
I still remember in 1969 when I was posted for the first time in West Pakistan as a medical officer in Sui Gas Field I was in one occassion moving in Karachi city in a taxi cab and the driver was a pathan driver. He was asking me so many things about our East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). In one time of our conversation he suddenly appreciate about our Bengali air force pilot being a small figure how he managed to fell down 11 fighter Indian plane in one combat operation in 1965 war. As because squadron leader Alam was a short figure. I told him, look in the jungle there is a cheetah and elephant also but cheetah are more powerful and swift than the elephant. He understood where I hit and swallow and digest my joke by giving a loud laghter.
Now in cricket world our Bangladeshi small figured boys can also be able to defeat world champion Pakistan, India, Australia, West Indies and so on one by one. This is really a pride for us. Let us pray and hope for the best in future also.
