Mr. Ayubi

You are right !
Up until now, Sajeeb Joy's only qualification is that he is
the son of  Sheihk Hasina. ...
Sajib's bragging "I've a masters degree in
Public Administration from Harvard University" does not prove
any point, but only proves his own inept immaturity, dwarf mind and
shallow understanding of the sociopolitical processes in Bangladesh ....

The seminar was essentially a flattery in the guise of a seminar by some
vested people, sychophants and bounty hunters.........

BTW,  Bangabandhu' B.A. degree is not from Dhaka University.
He obtained his B.A. from Islamia College, Calcutta in 1947
[under Calcutta University].

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's Education:
High School - Matriculation (10th grade): Gopalganj Missionary School (1942)
College Intermediate (12th grade) : Islamia College, Calcutta (IA certificate, 1944)
University: BA, Islamia College (1947)

There is nothing great about having a masters degree  from Harvard. He is not the firt Bangladeshi to get his degree from Harvanrd and he surely is not the last. There is nothing to brag about it. Bangabandhu had a simple degree from Dhaka University.

Your comment is a total distortion of the fact.
Harvard does not have any correspondence
courses or degree available  ... In order to
get a degree from Harvard one has to go
through a prescribed program and maintain
the required standard ..... there are no "may be",
"ifs" or "buts"....

Harvard education is costly,but only
"enough money" can not bestow a Harvard
Masters degree  ..... one has to pass
the exams and fulfill the requirements for the
degree.

As a matter of fact, Sonia Gandhi's son Rahul
Gandhi attended Harvard but dropped out in
1993 failing to receive the undergraduate degree.

Mr. Enayet Ullah,  please be credible and base your
comment on fact not on some  ficticious "may be"s  ...

BTW, Hasina Sheikh does not have a single PhD ,,,
she holds a B.A. (hons) degree from prestigious
Dhaka university in Bangladesh.

Sajib Wajed Joy's father Wajed Miah was a world-class
physicist and has a PhD degree in physics.
Sajib is a triple major in Physics, Mathematics and
Computer Science from St. Joseph's College and
has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering
from University of Texas in Arlington and finally
earned a Masters degree in Public Administration
from  Kennedy School of Government [2008].

Whereas, our great Madam Khaleda Zia is a
Matric-fail Soshikkito lady ... her sons, Koko
and Tarek's academic backgrounds are
big question marks .....(??????????????).

FYI,
The organizers at the seminar sponsored by
Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced
International Studies and US Bangladesh Business
Advisory Council in Washington.described
Sajib Wajed as "an advisor to Her Excellency
Sheikh Hasina". not as an official Advisor of the
Prime Minister of Bangladesh as you have said.

Thanks for expressing your insidious interests and
conspicuous comments.

Well, if you have enough money, one can get a Masters degree from Harvard, there are various correspondence courses available. Harvard is a well-known famous educational institute, but, not all Harvard graduate bestow the same quality!

Mr Sajib Wajed Jr, like his mother Seikh Hasina with 10 Phd, may well obtained his degree in a similar manner! It does not make him any qualified to be an Advisor of the Prime Minister. Moreover, Sajib has no knowledge about Bangladesh, he has not lived in Bangladesh for long time. I thought Awami League will rule differently this time, they will abandon the politics of hate and politics of heredity! Apparently, they are cajouling with both symptomps!

It's just sheer conspicuous!

Hasina's son defends 'controversial appointments'

By Arshad Mahmud in Washington

Washington, Jan 28 (bdnews24.com)—Sajeeb Wajed, son of prime minister Sheikh Hasina, has said that comparison between him and Tarique Rahman, son of former PM Khaleda Zia, was unfair as "I've a masters degree in Public Administration from Harvard University".

Sajeeb made the comment in an apparent effort to avoid a direct response to a question posed by bdnews24.com about whether he would declare unequivocally that unlike Tarique, and Khaleda's younger son Coco, he would not become involved in any business deal during the tenure of the current Awami League-led government.

His comment came during the question-answer session at a seminar on "The Bangladesh elections and beyond: Democracy, Security and Development" , jointly organised by the Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies and US Bangladesh Business Advisory Council in Washington on Wednesday.

He was one of the four panellists at the seminar, which provided an opportunity for the first time for many in the audience to hear directly from the prime minister's son, since the Awami League-led alliance won a landslide victory in last month's election.

The organisers described him as "an advisor to Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina".

Sajeeb's presence obviously generated a lot of interest among the audience, who were eager to learn more about the election and the country's current and future course.

Not surprisingly, most of the questions were directed to him and that prompted the moderator Walter Anderson, director of the South Asia Programme at SAIS, to intervene repeatedly in an effort to give the other three panellists a chance to answer some questions.

The other three were Joshua White, a PhD student at SAIS, Imtiaz Habib, a board member of USBAC, and Peter Manikas, Asia Director of the National Democratic Institute. White and Manikas recently visited Bangladesh as election observers.

Smart and articulate, Sajeeb made a generally good impression at the start, but his answers to some of the questions appeared to disappoint many in the audience, especially when he was trying to defend the controversial appointment of Toufiqe-e-Elahi Chowdhury as an adviser to the prime minister.

The PM's son was asked directly: "Why do you think the prime minister appointed such controversial figures as Toufique-e-Elahi, who was in jail recently on corruption charges, as advisers while there's no dearth of clean and respectable people in Bangladesh?"

Sajeeb said he didn't see anything wrong in such appointments. "Some people may say that Toufique-e-Elahi is controversial but there are others who say he is not".

About his recent incarceration on corruption charges, Sajeeb said the caretaker government imprisoned many innocent people without any credible evidence and "my mother was one of them".

The seminar was attended by Bangladeshi- Americans, diplomats, academics and others interested in Bangladesh.

Ambassador Humayun Kabir made a brief introductory statement at the seminar about the recent election and future prospects of Bangladesh.
