Bongobir Kader Siddiqui's Speech

Abid Bahar

Nayadiganta on 8th July published Kader Siddiqui's speech: Siddiqui said "Independence was fought to establish true Islam. Now the nation is being divided between Razakar and freedom fighters. If the present trend continues the nation will fail to move forward to development." The language doesn't sound like Kader Siddiqui's. But if one reads the founding principles of Awami League and its founder Bhasani's speeches, one will find the similarities of Kader Siddiqui's present speech. Bhasani's called the West Pakistani rulers as being unislamic and the "oppressors." "Jaleem" doing "Jolum."

There is nothing to be confused in Kader Siddiqui's recent speech. Awami League under intellectually shallow Mujib with Indian influence in BAKSAL turned the entire thing into Razakar, Jamat and Islam vs. Dada secularism/ Moni Singh progressives/ occuping the utopian moral high ground with India, which has its own oppressive caste system.

I am not confused at the language. Bongobir Kader Siddiqui was a close associate of Bhasani. Bhasani was the independent-minded Bangaldeshi who used progressive Islamic idea, rububia to fight both against Pakistani oppression and against Indian water aggression. He considered both of them as the "jaleems." Bhasani had serious differences with people like Manon who as an Indian dada recognized  "progressive" hated anything about Islam or Muslims and whole-heartedly loved Brahmoism and India. In Bangladesh, there are many Chatukars like Manon; but Kader Siddiqui is different when it comes to cultural consistency and Bangladesh interest in uniting people at times of distress.
