301 216 9656Washington DC - December 11, 2007: The US House of Representatives voted 388-0 tonight on H.Res. 842, sponsored by Congressman Steven Rothman of Foreign Affairs Committee and supported by members of the US Bangladesh Congressional Caucus. The Resolution expresses sympathy to and pledges the support of the House of Representatives and the people of the United States for the victims of Cyclone Sidr, which hit southwestern Bangladesh on November 15, 2007. Cyclone Sidr was one of the top five worst windstorms in the world and far more severe than Hurricane Katrina, for example, in 2005 when it lashed New Orleans in Louisiana.

The Bangladeshi-American Foundation, Inc. (BAFI) expresses its deep appreciation to Congressman Steven Rothman (Democrat, New Jersey), his staff and all the 377 other Congressional Representatives for supporting this Resolution. BAFI also thanks members of Bangladeshi-American community and friends for contacting their respective Representatives in support of this resolution. BAFI encourages community members to send a thank you note to their respective Representatives and wish them season's greetings.
