Dear Sir,
 
I am really pleased to read your below mail.Thank you very much to remember all these memories.otherwise, I started thinking that people of Ctg starting to forget those days.
 
I am the Grand Son of Haji Aminuddin (Founder of Grand Hotels in Ctg).My father's name is Mr.Nasimuddin. I think you also know him.
 
Haji Zahiruddin(Founder of Frescos,Statio rd.) was my maternal Grand Father(nana).He had five sons named Mushtaq(died july'07 in Ctg),Niaz (Died '06 in Karachi),Riaz,Eajaz & Imtiaz living in Karachi.Riaz Mama was working as manager with Habib Bank head office & now retired & doing his own business.All my five mamas are plasidians.Jasim Bhai (Purbokone),Qayyum Chowdhury(Rashi Bldg) were the class mate & very good friends of my Eajaz Uncle.
 
Irfan uncle's father Mr.Usman & My grand father Haji Aminuddin were the joint founder of Royal sweetmeat but later my Grand Pa(dada) transferred  his share to Mr.Usman.Irfan uncle was not our relative but more than relative.He passed away in 1996 after suffering lung cancer.But we have very good contacts with his family.
 
I have some photographs during that period which I will try to pass you.
 
Again thank you very much for bringing all these in memories.

If I remember right the first Grand was where the Jalsha Cinema was. In
fifties this place was known as 'Chunargoodam.' Bipani Bitan came later.
Chicken and paratha was excellent there. Perhaps I am one of those few
survivors who can talk about that. If this Grand is the same Grand you are
talking about Mr. Sharfuddin, then you may pass some bits of information
and if possible couple of photographs to me. I will try to develop a
feature on it for one of my occassional features for Daily Star (Weekend
or Campus). How can one forget about 'Fresco' near Ujala Cineman at
Station Road! It survived till early seventies. The sons of the owner
Newaj and Riaj went ot school with me. So did Irfan of Royal Hotel in KC
Dey Roay and Anupam of Nobelty (West of Laldighi). Good memories never
fade.
