Obituary: Aye Kyaw, The Father of Racism in Arakan is Dead!
Abid Bahar

Dr Aye Kyaw
, President of Arakanese Organization was born in Tan Lwey Chaung village of Arakan on December 30, 1936 and died on January 19, 2012 in New York. He was a highly educated, experienced Rakhine Mogh and a wise man to his followers but was also the epitome of contemporary Rakhine ultra nationalism, racism, xenophobia,  and knowingly caused Rakhine Mogh-Rohingya Muslim division in Arakanese society that continues till today.

Strangely though, we see in his track record, he both supported Burma he "loved" as his country and at the same time traveled to distant Rakhine Mogh locations across the globe to inspire in their separatist movements. He confessed in one of his writings online ( "Burma we love") that he was the man who persuaded Ne Win, (another xenophobe and the killer of Burma's democracy) to declare the Rohingya people as the non citizens of Burma. Contrary to his beliefs, research shows Rohingya ("People from old village") are an indigenous people of Arakan first originated from the ancient Indian Chandras. However, the cause for discrimination against the Rohingya people appear to be their racial and religious differences with the Rakhine Moghs. Rakhine Moghs are mongoloid by race who took over the domination of Arakan during the 10th century by defeating the Indian Chandras.)

Aye Kyaw while denying the Rohingya citizenship but as teacher by profession at a US university quite conveniently took the US naturalized citizenship and led a comfortable life in New York. He also claimed himself as a Buddhist. His actions however shows that he was rather a political Buddhist lacking in a true Buddhist heart.
Aye Kyaw and his gang of ultra nationalists from Arakan openly aided the Burmese military to commit genocide in Arakan and the Rohingya exodus to Burma's neighboring countries still continues. Unfortunately, Aye Kyaw left behind many of his committed Rakhine Mogh followers to execute his legacy of distorted beliefs.

As part of the humanity, we mourn his death but we note the flip side of this soft spoken Rakhine Mogh leader that in his capacity as the president of the World Arakanese Organization he had committed crimes against humanity and escaped his worldly punishment through death.
