Really .........?
The deals for supply of natural gas were made in July -September 2005
when Mahmudur Rahman was the Adviser of the Energy Ministry and
M Morshed Khan was the Foreign Minister during Khaleda Zia's regime.

The Bangladesh government had agreed to allow India to use natural gas from
Bangladesh for this power plant project, for which Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had laid the foundation stone in October 2005.
Understandably, the viability of any power plant project is fully dependent
on the fuel supply, that is natural gas from Bangladesh in this case.
[Khaleda Zia's government gave the assurance for the supply of
natural gas to India's ONGC in 2005, was a key factor in
selecting the power plant location near the Bangladesh border]
This power plant could very well be mutually beneficial for both
countries because:
(1) Bangladesh will get fair price for the gas
(2) Bangladesh will be allowed to buy power generated by
that plant.
[Import of electricity from Canada is an important feature for the Power grids in northeast USA]
BTW, mutually beneficial regional co-operation is a key factor for progress in
today's world ...
