| Job Opportunities Exciting Opportunities in Wireless/Telecomm R&D in an Outstanding Setting in Qatar: The QU Wireless Innovations Center (QUWIC) is a new national entity initiated by Qatar University that will focus on carrying out applied research and technology development in the area of Wireless Systems, services, and Applications. The center will be located at the new state-of-the art facility of Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP), Doha, Qatar. The Center will be equipped with the necessary labs and computing resources to allow it to deliver on its mission, and meet the needs of its customers and partners. Through its diverse activities and programs, the Center aims to enable the whole wireless/telecom industry in Qatar and to position Qatar as a regional hub for wireless/telecom R&D. 1. Wireless Solutions Architect (Solutions Architect) Job Function: Create wireless-based solutions that meet customer needs. Utilize knowledge about emerging wireless technologies, standards and service capabilities to define new wireless applications and value added services that can be offered by wireless operators or deployed in vertical industries like healthcare, oil and gas, transportation, financial, government services etc. Work with other team members, externals partners and customers to demonstrate the technical feasibility and business viability of proposed solutions. Respond to tenders and calls for proposals issued by potential customers. Required Skills: Strong wireless/telecom/software industry experience. Knowledge of wireless technologies, protocols, and standards. Previous wireless/telecom consulting experience is desired. Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desired. Excellent team player. Ability to work independently and under a great deal of ambiguity. Education: Minimum of Bsc. in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field. An Msc degree is preferred. 2. Senior/Principal Wireless Systems Engineer (Systems Engineer) Job Function: Support R&D activities throughout project lifecycle including: requirements definition, design, development, lab testing, field trial etc. Lead proof-of-concept implementation of new applications and service concepts. Represent QUWIC in international standard bodies and make technical contributions as needed. Support external technical consulting activities and contract research projects. Work with partners to customize global innovations for potential deployment in local industries. Prepare responses to tenders and calls for proposals. Required Skills: Knowledge of wireless standards, technologies, and services. Good S/W and programming skills. Good hands-on experience. Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desired. Previous wireless/telecomm industry experience is a must. Education: Minimum of Bsc. in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field. An advance engineering degree is highly preferred. 3. Wireless Applications Engineer (Applications Engineer) Job Function: Develop and test wireless applications and services. Support proof-of-concept projects and field trials, support technical consulting services offered by the Center. Required Skills: Excellent programming experience (especially in Java), strong background in wireless technologies, protocols and standards. Good communication skills both written and oral Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desired. Previous S/W or wireless industry experience is desirable. Education: Bsc. in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field. An Msc degree is preferred |
