[chottala.com] The Kidney Mission, Inc. and the Chittagong Project


First of all I must thank the members of Chottola for their valued contributions for the research project which we had undertaken. The numerous research materials have helped us in great magnitude. Special thanks to Mr.Mohammed Rakibul Hassan, Dhaka,  for his continued support and information.

 

The project is completed and ready for submission to USAID and other agencies for funding and hopefully we shall soon see the beginning of ground work in Chittagong.

 

The Launching Event, held of January 22, 2009, at Artesia, California was also a great success and the credit goes to Dr. Ziauddin Ahmed of Drexel University, PA, Dr. Maksud Chowdhury of NY,  Dr. Merlyn Halder of AZ, Dr. Shahe Paswayan of CA, Dr. Prodip Chowdhury of CA, Dr. Abinash Roy, University of Utah, Dr. Scott Rosgon, Director of Kaiser Permanante, CA, Mr. Anwarul Huq (Microbiologist) PA and Mr. Mohammed Asgar for their contributions and support.

 

The highlights of the event was as follows:

1
. Mayor Sally Flowers, of the City of Artesia, gave endorsed our project and have assured us that she will push the County of Los Angeles, to provide us with suitable machines to be shipped to Bangladesh. She will also help us raise funds from businesses in the city of Artesia and promote our mission.
 
2. The City of Norwalk was represented and assured us their support whenever needed and have also assured us the use of their hall free of cost for any future events.
 
3. Ms. Janice Lee, Social Worker of DiVita (Largest Dialysis Operator in California) have assured us the support of DeVita to acquire machines and give technical support.
 
4. Dr. Pradip Chowdhury, LA County Association of Nephrology, has assured us their full support and further assured that on every visit to Bangladesh, he will render free services and training to our center in Chittagong, Bangladesh.

5. Mr. Jalil Khan, Engineer Caltrans and Relations Officer, has assured us a plot of land in Khulsi, Chittagong, free of cost, to set up the clinic.
 
6. The family of A. K. Khan, Mr. Sadruddin Khan (Bobby), Director of A.K. Khan Group of Industries, Chittagong, has assured us their full support and cooperation in Chittagong, Bangladesh.
 
7. Ms. Raisa Haider and Ms.Bipasha have performed Bangladeshi dances to promote Bangladeshi culture which was highly appreciated by the audience.
 
8. Ms. Banu, teacher of Yoga and Classical Indian dances, have committed a contribution once a month from all students, and also assured us that she will perform for all our shows in future.
 
9. Ms. Lucy Lee, (Bangladeshi Chinese) owner of Lucy Beauty Parlor, will contribute all her earnings of one day each month, for our cause.
 
Dr. Merlyn Halder M.D.(Mrs) of Phoenix Baptist Hospital, Arizona, has agreed to represent us in Arizona and will help us to secure machines from the State of Arizona.
 
Ms. Brittney Cox of New Mexico, has confirmed that she would join our organization and represent our interest in the State of New Mexico, she assured that she would do her best to collect funds, organize events and try and collect machines from N ew Mexico.
 
Dr. Abinash Roy, M.D., Associate Professor of Medicine, University of Utah, assured us his cooperation and support.
 
Mr. Nurul Khan, Mr. Shaheen and Mr. Manzur of Chittagong Association in Los Angeles, will be hosting a Special Dinner Event to promote our cause and raise funds.
 
Bangladesh Unity Federation in Los Angeles, has agreed to make a special float, for the Bangladesh Parade to be held on March 26, 2009 in Los Angeles.

 

Without the kind support and cooperation of the above it would not be possible for the project to be materialized.
