[chottala.com] Janaza prayer for Engineer Humayun Kabir will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday (May 19) at MCC.

OUR RESPECTED ENGINEER HUMAYUN KABIR PASSED AWAY

With deep sorrow & painful feeling, I have to announce that our very respected & highly favorite Engineer, Mr. Humayun Kabir of Silver Spring, MD, passed away this morning, Sunday May 18, at 7:55 at the Genesis Health Center, Layhill, MD. (Innalillahe…...Rajeun).  His wife, Mrs. Farida Kabir and his only son, Rana Kabir were present at his bedside.  The Janaza prayer will be held tomorrow, Monday May 19, following the Zuhr prayer at 1:30 pm at the Muslim Community Center (MCC), Silver Spring, MD.

Mr. Kabir, born and raised in Comilla.  He was married to Farida and the couple has two adult children, Tanzeena and Rana Kabir who live in Washington area.  Engineer Humayun Kabir graduated from Ahsanullah Engineering College, now known as BUET, in 1959 and is one of the senior most engineers of Bangladeshi origin.  He, a senior member of the Bangladeshi-American community in Washington area, came to the United States in 1975.  Soft spoken, intelligent and always ready to help others, Mr. Humayun Kabir  was well known for his love for sports.  He was the defacto Sports Director of the Bangladesh Association for many years and conducted all the sports events in 70s and 80s.  American Association of Bangladeshi Engineers & Architects (AABEA), Washington DC Chapter mourns the passing of Mr. Humayun Kabir.  We take this time to remember him as a wonderful gentleman, who has been active in the engineering community all his life, first with the Institute of Engineers in Bangladesh, and subsequently with AABEA.  He was a president of its Washington DC Chapter at one time, and he continued to provide his advice, support and time to AABEA causes, until the very end.  He also served as Election Commissioner for AABEA as well as for Bangladesh Association of America Inc (BAAI).  Even as his health was deteriorating during the past few years, he would still respond to our calls when we needed and ask us what he can do for AABEA.

We surely lost a good friend of AABEA.  This is a great loss for the Bangladeshi community of the Washington DC area, and to the engineering community in particular.  We will say our prayer for him.  We all pray for his due salvation and urge the Almighty Allah to reward him with the best of the heavens.  May Allah forgive all of his sins, keeps him sin-free in the grave, and raise him sin-free on the Day of Judgment.  Our condolence also goes out to his family members.
