[chottala.com] Ex-Jamaat MP in Satkhira sued for forging signature

Maulana Abdul Khaleque
A case was filed against former Jamaat-e-Islami lawmaker Maulana Abdul Khaleque and another person here yesterday for allegedly forging signature of a governing body member of Shaheed Smriti College to adopt a regulation in their favour.

Maulana Abdul Khaleque was elected from Satkhira-2 (Sadar) constituency in 2001 election as a candidate of BNP led 4- party alliance.

The other accused is Obaidullah Gaznafar, vice- principal of the college at Banshdah in Sadar upazila.

Abdul Malek Mollah Satani Kushkhali a guardian representative to the college governing body, filed the case with the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ranu Bilkis Banu for taking some important decisions at the college governing body meeting by forging his signature.

After hearing, the court asked the officer in charge (OC) Sadar police station to investigate the allegation and take action.

Plaintiff Abdul Malek Mollah alleged that the accused held a meeting of the college governing body on April 18 last year, violating rules of National University.

At the meeting, the accused took some important decisions by showing that all governing body members were present. Signatures of the absent members were forged in the so-called resolution, Malek alleged in the case.

The meeting had decided to publish advertisement in newspapers for appointment of a college principal, nominate lecturer GM Alamgir as teacher's representative to the governing body by replacing elected representative Prof Rebati Bala and select Abdul Karim and Engineer Abdul Hamid as governing body members to increase the number of jamaat leader's men in the governing body. All the decisions were illegal and taken through forgery, the plaintiff alleged. He said he did not file the case earlier fearing reprisal by the former lawmaker.

On contact, Abdul Khaleque refuted the allegation and said it is a conspiracy against him by a vested group to tarnish his image.
