[chottala.com] Re: [Diagnose] Dhaka University - "Oxford" of the East or "Ox-Fort" of the East! ?

Friends

No, that is ot te solution. Rather it may have otherwise impact in the minds of the komolmoti(majority students) of DU. As everybody would agree that all teachers and students are not thugs and tainted like the politrical chamchas. To my  opinion the ideal and best way is to honestly make pruning and trim the venomenous politicals teachers and their goon desciples plus we as nation should take bold decision that all sorts politics or political wing of political parties be banned forever.

There should of course be the  democratically elected as like pre 1971"Student Union" to cater the academic and welfare needs of the student. If we can succeed than in no time our pride Dhaka University will take it's dignified sit among the universities of the world and be decorated again with the Honour of "Oxford of the East".

DU should be closed. If it cannon be closed soon, at least the process should be started to gradually shut it down. It is coming to no use to the country rather having detrimental effect. Many teachers are plagiarists and fully occupied with politics and dishonesties. DU is destroying the brilliant students future. They can shine in any other university. Moreover, shutting down DU will free a huge land area at the heart of now over crowded Dhaka city. It will ease the traffic situation a lot.

There are many other universities in Bangladesh which can cater the need of the students who go and will go to DU. Many universities were founded by our beloved PMs which only have the founding stones. We can develop those unis to meet our need.

Subj. Dhaka University - "Oxford" of the East or "Ox-Fort" of the East! ?

Dear All,

Three teachers of Dhaka University have been convicted for two years in jail for the crime committed by violating the Emergency Power Rules (EPR) at TSC (later pardoned by the President under political pressure) by a court of law of our civilized nation of Bangladesh- it is no longer under British rule or Pakistani control that violation of any law can be justified for self rule and democracy. So called political parties (AL and BNP) failed to conduct timely democratic election, so to avoid a catastrophic civil war the President had to declare Emergency Rule.  Present Care Taker Government is obliged and committed to hold democratic fair election within 2008 and also committed to eliminate major corruption to facilitate a fair and transparent election (proper voter registration and  elimination of influence of corrupted money is a must and an internationally acceptable democratic election process). All political parties,  general public, and international communities have accepted it.

Now, Dhaka University, our Alma mater, our pride  " Oxford of the East" has become or behaving like "Ox-fort" of the East,  to clarify more in Bangla- "Brisha- Durga" . means "Fort of Oxen";  no human brain, behaves like bullying, butting, unruly; needing more leashes to control. One sister, Ms. Dina Khan, who possibly lives abroad, quoted below, said,    "The people graduated from the University of Bangladesh after coming in abroad are doing odd jobs such as taxi driving hotel boy, city council cleaning works until & unless they get proper education from the education centre in abroad".. , at the same time Prof. Rahman Soban, a renowned think tank scholar of Bangladesh, living in Bangladesh,  recently said "A politically conscious and articulate university campus is an integral feature of a strong civil society".  Question - where is the time to prepare and train themselves for building real "Strong Civil Society",  he is recommending our immature young students for on-the-job training to become  tools, stooges, and "boot lickers"  of our Corrupted political leaders and religious leaders (fanatics)

This perpetual corrupted leadership will continue, symptoms are already evident Ref. 1st page of www.akhonsamoy.com Jan 8-14 issue, What will be future politics of Bangladesh   under the young leadership of Mr. Tarek Rahman, Sajeeb Wajed Joy or Mahi B. Chowdhury respective descendants of  Family Dynasty; they will peep up when political field will remain unchallenged?
In contrast Nobel Laureate Mohammad Yunus deepened down or chickened out from politics by being threatened and declared as "Murtad" by fanatic Mullahs, though the Nobel Award Committee reasoned their selection that Mr. Yunus will act to counter " a widespread tendency to demonize Islam" (Ref. follows). Let us try to conscript/indite Dr. Yunus into politics to save us and our Bangladesh, write or redirect this letter to Dr. Yunus--  g_trust@grameen.com
(Ref.

Norwegian Nobel Committee chairman Ole Danbolt Mjoes said "By giving it to Mr Yunus, the group seeks to shine a spotlight not only on the fight against poverty but also on dialogue with the Muslim world and on empowering women. Microcredit has proved itself to be a liberating force in societies where women in particular have to struggle against repressive social and economic conditions," He also said,  "a widespread tendency to demonise Islam" has been seen since the September 11 terrorist attacks and the Nobel Committee wants to "narrow the gap between the west and Islam". )

The steps or movement we should take:
  • We can not pardon those convicted teachers, they should resign or be dismissed, let us raise our voice and email our demand to Dhaka University Vice Chancellor and (  feedback@ pmo.gov.bd  )  Dr. Fakhruddin Ahmed, Chief Advisor, Care Taker Government, People's Republic of Bangladesh
  • Whatever donations or scholarship fund we provide as Alumni of our Al Mamaters, let us ask the universities, we are going to stop our donations unless your products are of international standards, and you provide us your students' achievements when we give you money every year
  • Always try and provide your own sons, daughters, brothers, and sisters to give good education in good schools,. colleges, and universities in Bangladedesh, or in India, or in any foreign country you can afford,  good education is our future, not blind support and patronization of our "Ox-Fort" in future
Regards.
Yours sincerely,

"A politically conscious and articulate university campus is an integral feature of a strong civil society. Politics on the campus has, thus, been an essential instrument in the democratic struggle of South Asia, and particularly in Bengal. The university or college campus brings together a small but more politically conscious segment of the population in one place, which facilitates collective action."

After reading the statement delivered at the court by The Learned PhD Teacher Mr. Anwar Hossain of Dhaka University is seemed that the administration of Dhaka University is totally inactive.
It is also proved by his statement that there is no good administration in the University.
!
Where there is no good active disciplined administration in the University & from where the people are getting degree certificates after coming in abroad their certificates are not honored by the University in abroad & their educational qualifications are treated as below standard.
The people graduated from the University of Bangladesh after coming in abroad are doing odd jobs such as taxi driving hotel boy city council cleaning works until & unless they get proper education from the education centre in abroad..
And after getting education from the university  they are doing in Bangladesh nonsense works such looting public money car breaking  trouble making disaster creating in the country etc as a result money of Banglade! sh is devaluing creating money inflation everything price hiking

Prof Sadrul Amin, Prof Anwar Hossain and Prof Harun-or Rashid, each of whom had been sentenced to two years imprisonment, were freed along with Prof Nimchandra Bhowmik, who had been acquitted in the same case.

Coming out of Dhaka Central Jail, the freed teachers last evening at a rally at Central Shaheed Minar in the capital, vowed to continue the 'DU legacy of standing up against all sorts of injustice for the sake of the country and the people'.

Recalling his experience with political governments as a bureaucrat for 16 years, the former finance secretary said, "I can tell you there was never any such rise in food prices during the rules of political governments.

"The political leaders may be corrupt, they may be inefficient and bad, but they were very careful at least about this issue," he said.

On political reforms, he said negotiation is the only way to reach a consensus with the political parties on this. "Obviously political reform is needed but there is no permanent solution to fully reforming the political situation," Akbar said, adding that no country has a perfect political system.
