As'Salam 'Alaikum. Peace be upon you, DCI is now accepting donations to perform sacrifice on your behalf and distribute it to people in need. Join us in this year's Eid-ul-Adha (Udhiya /Qurbani) Program and help the underprivileged in Bangladesh to celebrate Eid!
Here is What DCI can do for you on your behalf:
- You can share the celebration of Eid through charitable donations that will bring joy to the needy children and their families in the spirit of Eid.
- During the coming Eid-ul-Adha, DCI has arranged for Udhiya (Qurbani) to be performed in Bangladesh.
- The livestock is purchased locally and well maintained until the first day of Eid when we locally slaughter and distribute 100% of the fresh meat among real needy and poor people.
- We will provide you with the receipt of the purchase of the animal and will send that to you by mail or email.
- We are distributing Qurbani meat to ORPHANAGES and slums in Dhaka, as well as villages in Patuakhali, Nilphamary, Sylhet, and Feni, where we have DCI projects. You can decide where your donation goes.
- We will provide you with the pictures of meat distribution among the poor people after Qurbani.
- You may consider to give some portion of your Qurbani meat donation, which you are going to give to the poor in any way, to the orphans or slum children we serve. We will arrange to pick up the meats.
- For Qurbani in Bangladesh all our services are completely free.

The Prophet Muhammad (saws) was once asked by his Companions: "O Prophet of Allah! What is this qurbani?" He replied, "It is the Sunnah of your father Ibrahim (as)." (Hadith - Ibn Majah)
Allah (swt) says in the Qur'an: "It is neither their flesh nor their blood that reaches Allah; it is your piety that reaches Him." (Qur'an 22:37)
Qurbani has been performed from the time of Ibrahim (as) and commemorates also Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son, who was replaced by an animal at the time of sacrifice.
Q1. What is Udhiya/Qurbani?
Muslims who can afford to do so sacrifice domestic animals, usually sheep, as a symbol of Ibrahim's sacrifice; this sacrifice is called "Qurbani." The meat is distributed amongst their neighbors, relatives, and the poor and hungry. The charitable instincts of the Muslim community are demonstrated during Eid ul-Adha by the concerted effort to see that no impoverished Muslim is left without sacrificial food during this day.
Q2. How does the Udhiya/Qurbani program work?
Ideally the meat from the Qurbani sacrifice should be shared between one's own family, friends and the poor. It is very difficult to perform a Qurbani sacrifice in most western countries, and there are also relatively fewer poor people that can accept raw meet as charity, so it is permissible to pay for a sacrifice to be performed on one's behalf in another country, and for all the meat to be distributed to the poor. The Qurbani sacrifice through DCI is performed according to islamically prescribed methods in a country of your choosing (or where most needed) and the meat is distributed to the poor and needy.

Since 2008, DCI has been organizing annual Qurbani and working with local partner organizations in distributing the meat to benefit some of the poorest and vulnerable people in Bangladesh.

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
The sacrificial camels we have made for you as among the symbols from Allah. In them is (much) good for you: then pronounce the name of Allah over them as they line up (for sacrifice): when they are down on their sides (after slaughter), eat ye thereof, and feed such as (beg not but) live in contentment, and such as beg with due humility: thus have We made animals subject to you, that ye may be grateful. It is not their meat nor their blood, that reaches Allah. it is your piety that reaches Him: He has thus made them subject to you, that ye may glorify Allah for His Guidance to you and proclaim the good news to all who do right.(22:36-37)
