Re: [chottala.com] What will the two Zionist agents do now? The storm is messing up the Israeli agenda.

Don't worry, once you can identify the problem, there is always a solution. Again, a society is not destroyed for the action of some disgrunted people; rather it is destroyed for the inaction of the good people. At this time, good people are also talking, and hence, evils are destined to be destroyed!

Thanks.

Muslim World Stunned by S. Arabia's Plan to Destroy Prophet's Mosque
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Saudi government plans to demolish Islamic sites, including Prophet Mohammad (PBUH)'s Mosque, taking a bulldozer to Islam's history and divine values.

Saudi Arabia plans to destroy three of the world's oldest mosques in a multi-billion-pound expansion of Islam's second holiest site, a plan which has shocked the Muslim community worldwide, Independent said.

Work on the Masjid an-Nabawi in Medina, where the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) is buried, will start once the annual Hajj pilgrimage ends next month. When complete, the development will turn the mosque into the world's largest building, with the capacity for 1.6 million people.

But the Saudi plan to raze Islam's historical and most revered sites has stunned the Muslim world. Saudi King Abdullah's apparent disdain for preserving historical and archeological heritage of Mecca, the holiest city in the country and the world of Islam, has already fueled outrage.

Most of the expansion of Masjid an-Nabawi will take place to the West of the existing mosque, which holds the tombs of Islam's founder and the first two Caliphs of Sunni Islam, Abu Bakr and Omar.

Also Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs published a pamphlet in 2007 prepared by the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Abdulaziz al Sheikh who called for destruction of the mosque's dome and flattening the graves of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), Abu Bakr and Omar.

Dr. Irfan al-Alawi of the Islamic Heritage Research Foundation who has spent much of his past 10 years activities on highlighting the destruction of early Islamic sites said, "Muslim silence over the destruction of Mecca and Medina is both disastrous and hypocritical."

"The recent movie about the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) caused worldwide protests... and yet the destruction of the Prophet's birthplace, where he prayed and founded Islam has been allowed to continue without any criticism," he added.

Madinah Haram Mosque After Four Years
Medina`s authorities are building a mosque so big it will hold 1.6m people – but demolishing irreplaceable monuments to do it. Jerome Taylor reports
Three of the world`s oldest mosques are about to be destroyed as Saudi Arabia embarks on a multi-billion-pound expansion of Islam`s second holiest site. Work on the Masjid an-Nabawi in Medina, where the Prophet Mohamed is buried, will start once the annual Hajj pilgrimage ends next month. When complete, the development will turn the mosque into the world`s largest building, with the capacity for 1.6 million worshippers.
But concerns have been raised that the development will see key historic sites bulldozed. Anger is already growing at the kingdom`s apparent disdain for preserving the historical and archaeological heritage of the country`s holiest city, Mecca. Most of the expansion of Masjid an-Nabawi will take place to the west of the existing mosque, which holds the tombs of Islam`s founder and two of his closest companions, Abu Bakr and Umar.
Just outside the western walls of the current compound are mosques dedicated to Abu Bakr and Umar, as well as the Masjid Ghamama, built to mark the spot where the Prophet is thought to have given his first prayers for the Eid festival. The Saudis have announced no plans to preserve or move the three mosques, which have existed since the seventh century and are covered by Ottoman-era structures, or to commission archaeological digs before they are pulled down, something that has caused considerable concern among the few academics who are willing to speak out in the deeply authoritarian kingdom.
"No one denies that Medina is in need of expansion, but it`s the way the authorities are going about it which is so worrying," says Dr Irfan al-Alawi of the Islamic Heritage Research Foundation. "There are ways they could expand which would either avoid or preserve the ancient Islamic sites but instead they want to knock it all down." Dr Alawi has spent much of the past 10 years trying to highlight the destruction of early Islamic sites.
With cheap air travel and booming middle classes in populous Muslim countries within the developing world, both Mecca and Medina are struggling to cope with the 12 million pilgrims who visit each year – a number expected to grow to 17 million by 2025. The Saudi monarchy views itself as the sole authority to decide what should happen to the cradle of Islam. Although it has earmarked billions for an enormous expansion of both Mecca and Medina, it also sees the holy cities as lucrative for a country almost entirely reliant on its finite oil wealth.
Heritage campaigners and many locals have looked on aghast as the historic sections of Mecca and Medina have been bulldozed to make way for gleaming shopping malls, luxury hotels and enormous skyscrapers. The Washington-based Gulf Institute estimates that 95 per cent of the 1,000-year-old buildings in the two cities have been destroyed in the past 20 years.
In Mecca, the Masjid al-Haram, the holiest site in Islam and a place where all Muslims are supposed to be equal, is now overshadowed by the Jabal Omar complex, a development of skyscraper apartments, hotels and an enormous clock tower. To build it, the Saudi authorities destroyed the Ottoman era Ajyad Fortress and the hill it stood on. Other historic sites lost include the Prophet`s birthplace – now a library – and the house of his first wife, Khadijah, which was replaced with a public toilet block.
Neither the Saudi Embassy in London nor the Ministry for Foreign Affairs responded to requests for comment when The Independent contacted them this week. But the government has previously defended its expansion plans for the two holy cities as necessary. It insists it has also built large numbers of budget hotels for poorer pilgrims, though critics point out these are routinely placed many miles away from the holy sites.
Until recently, redevelopment in Medina has pressed ahead at a slightly less frenetic pace than in Mecca, although a number of early Islamic sites have still been lost. Of the seven ancient mosques built to commemorate the Battle of the Trench – a key moment in the development of Islam – only two remain. Ten years ago, a mosque which belonged to the Prophet`s grandson was dynamited. Pictures of the demolition that were secretly taken and smuggled out of the kingdom showed the religious police celebrating as the building collapsed.
The disregard for Islam`s early history is partly explained by the regime`s adoption of Wahabism, an austere and uncompromising interpretation of Islam that is vehemently opposed to anything which might encourage Muslims towards idol worship.
In most of the Muslim world, shrines have been built. Visits to graves are also commonplace. But Wahabism views such practices with disdain. The religious police go to enormous lengths to discourage people from praying at or visiting places closely connected to the time of the Prophet while powerful clerics work behind the scenes to promote the destruction of historic sites.
Dr Alawi fears that the redevelopment of the Masjid an-Nabawi is part of a wider drive to shift focus away from the place where Mohamed is buried. The spot that marks the Prophet`s tomb is covered by a famous green dome and forms the centrepiece of the current mosque. But under the new plans, it will become the east wing of a building eight times its current size with a new pulpit. There are also plans to demolish the prayer niche at the centre of mosque. The area forms part of the Riyadh al-Jannah (Garden of Paradise), a section of the mosque that the Prophet decreed especially holy..
"Their excuse is they want to make more room and create 20 spaces in a mosque that will eventually hold 1.6 million," says Dr Alawi. "It makes no sense. What they really want is to move the focus away from where the Prophet is buried."
A pamphlet published in 2007 by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs – and endorsed by the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Abdulaziz al Sheikh – called for the dome to be demolished and the graves of Mohamed, Abu Bakr and Umar to be flattened. Sheikh Ibn al-Uthaymeen, one of the 20th century`s most prolific Wahabi scholars, made similar demands.
"Muslim silence over the destruction of Mecca and Medina is both disastrous and hypocritical," says Dr Alawi. "The recent movie about the Prophet Mohamed caused worldwide protests… and yet the destruction of the Prophet`s birthplace, where he prayed and founded Islam has been allowed to continue without any criticism."
Mecca and Medina in Numbers
12m – The number of people who visit Mecca and Medina every year
3.4m – The number of Muslims expected to perform Hajj (pilgrimage) this year
60,000 – The current capacity of the Masjid an-Nabawi mosque
1.6m – The projected capacity of the mosque after expansion

BNP telling lies:

BNP was never against transit, Khaleda's adviser tells BBC

BNP was never against giving transit to India, Sabihuddin Ahmed,
adviser to party Chairperson Khaleda Zia, told BBC Bangla service last night. However, Khaleda at a rally in Dhaka on November 7 demanded cancellation of the "transit deal" with India, saying no foreign vehicles would be allowed into Bangladesh.

BBC Bangla service observes that the BNP chairperson has moved away from her years-long position against Bangladesh giving transit to India and the proposed Tipaimukh dam.The party earlier staged a number of protests in and outside the capital against the dam.

Subject: [chottala.com] Awami League, Dr Kamal and 1/11

Awami League, Dr Kamal and 1/11

Syed Badrul Ahsan

The Awami League could have been more circumspect in handling the
matter of the alliance forged by Dr Kamal Hossain and Prof Badruddoza
Chowdhury. As an organisation historically committed to an upholding
of the democratic process, the Awami League should have been the first
among political parties to welcome the possibility of a third
democratic force in the country.

In the event, the Awami League disappointed a whole swath of people,
among whom are some of its traditional supporters. It has indirectly
hinted at a conspiracy on the part of the former foreign minister,
Kamal Hossain, in that he might be about to cause a repeat of 11
January 2007.

The Awami League, through its general secretary, has thus made two
points: it has gone after Kamal Hossain and it has come down hard on
the caretaker government led by Fakhruddin Ahmed between January 2007
and January 2009.

First, let us look at Kamal Hossain's record. He served as
constitutional adviser to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman between
February 1969 and March 1971. Prior to that, he served on Mujib's
legal defence team in the Agartala conspiracy case trial. Bangabandhu
had enough confidence in him to make him part of the Awami League team
entrusted to negotiate with the Yahya Khan military junta in the
critical weeks before the Pakistan army launched a genocide in
Bangladesh on 25 March 1971.

Kamal Hossain was arrested by the Pakistan army in early April 1971
and flown to erstwhile West Pakistan where he was in custody, as
Bangabandhu was, for the entire duration of the War of Liberation. At
the time, quite a good deal of innuendo and insinuation was spread
about his "surrender" to the army and not until we heard that he and
his family had arrived in London in January 1972 with Bangabandhu that
we were convinced he had not let the Father of the Nation down. Those
who had been vocal against Kamal Hossain during the war went silent,
for good reason.

It was Kamal Hossain's job, one Bangabandhu happily gave him, to draft
the constitution of Bangladesh in early 1972. As the nation's law
minister, Kamal did the job with finesse, to a point where the
constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly in December 1972.
Following the country's first general elections in March 1973, Kamal
Hossain took over as foreign minister and in that capacity did a
remarkable job of ensuring Bangladesh's entry into the United Nations
and other global bodies. His articulation of the new nation's foreign
policy abroad did us an immense lot of good and convinced nations
abroad of our commitment to a peaceful world.

A further instance of Kamal Hossain's integrity, as an individual and
as a politician, came in August 1975 when he refused to be part of
Khondokar Moshtaque Ahmed's usurper regime after Bangabandhu's murder.
As foreign minister, he had been on a visit to Yugoslavia when the
coup occurred. To his credit, he refused to return home.

In 1981, with the Awami League splintered into a number of factions,
it was Kamal Hossain who proposed that Sheikh Hasina, self-exiled
elder daughter of the Father of the Nation, be elected president of
the party. That was political ingenuity and the Awami League has
benefited from the move. In November 1981, a grateful party nominated
Kamal Hossain to challenge Justice Abdus Sattar for the presidency.
Kamal lost, but emerged with his stature enhanced.

That is Kamal Hossain's story. Now, to the matter of the 1/11
caretaker administration. The Awami League and many others are surely
correct in believing that the Fakhruddin government did quite a number
of unsavoury things in its time. Its move to prevent Sheikh Hasina
from returning home from abroad and trying to compel Khaleda Zia to go
into exile embarrassed it to no end. Its restrictions on politics and
at the same time allowing three individuals to form their political
parties under cover of the emergency was a contradiction it could not
explain. Its harsh treatment of politicians, academics and students in
custody was a blot on our conscience we are yet to leave behind us.

But there is too the positive side to the 1/11 administration. For the
first time in the nation's history, it drove home the lesson that
politicians could not do wrong and then expect to get away with it.
Law and order was a certainty during its time. It gave shape to a
powerful Anti-Corruption Commission and an independent Election
Commission. Most importantly, it gave the country a fresh voters' list
that was truly a new beginning for citizens.

The BNP's diatribe against the 1/11 administration is understandable,
for the state of emergency laid all its plans waste. But when the
Awami League chooses to pounce on the Fakhruddin government, supreme
irony appears to be at work. Consider this: the arrival of the 1/11
team drove from office the controversial caretaker government led by
President Iajuddin Ahmed, one that was ready to conduct farcical
elections on 22 January 2007. The 1/11 men removed the MA Aziz-led
Election Commission, which was ready with tens of thousands of false
and dead voters to hand a victory to the party it favoured. In the
end, despite the bumps and the stumbles, the 1/11 caretaker government
did deliver a free and fair election, the chief beneficiary of which
was the Awami League.

That is the record. It speaks for itself.

Begun Khaleda Zia, the leader of Bangladesh's main opposition party,
the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), is visiting India after nearly
six years at the invitation of the Indian government. Since her last
visit in 2006 as Prime Minister of Bangladesh, there has been a
substantial change in India-Bangladesh relations. Given the proximity
of views on communal politics, their socio-cultural disposition and
reckoning the historic background of affinity and cooperation between
the Awami League of Bangladesh and the Congress Party of India, it was
but natural that there would be an upturn in bilateral relations
between the two countries with the Awami League and Begum Sheikh
Hasina in power. But the Sheikh Hasina Government went even further in
its approach towards India, as has been evident on a range of issues
such as facilitating transhipment of critical stores (though
selectively as for example with respect to the Palaitana gas-based
power project of Tripura), enabling the setting up of a number of
border haats (markets) for the benefit of people inhabiting border
areas, allowing the swapping of enclaves to go through and, above all,
controlling the activities of anti-Indian north eastern militants and
even nabbing and handing over some of them to the Indian authorities.
It will be the endeavour of the Indian authorities to gauge the likely
posture of Begum Khaleda Zia, in the event of the BNP's return to
power after January 2013, on continuation of cooperation in the areas
where a large degree of mutual understanding has already been
achieved.

It is interesting that Begum Zia`s visit is taking place just after
she, as the head of a BNP delegation, has returned from China. As per
official declarations from the BNP`s end as well as from Chinese
Government sources, the visit seems to have been another occasion for
reiteration of China`s goodwill and commitment towards Bangladesh.
China has assured Bangladesh of financial and technical support for
the second Padma river bridge, development of the deep-sea port at
Sonadia in the Bay of Bengal, operationalising the Chittagong-Kunming
rail link (through Myanmar, which will boost China`s trade to and
through Bangladesh) and also modernising the Bangladesh Armed Forces.
Earlier, China-Bangladesh relations, particularly during the previous
Begum Zia regime, were primarily politico-military in nature and
derived significance when appraised in the context of China-India
competition in South Asia. Nevertheless, Beijing maintained a thrust
towards assisting Bangladesh in building up its infrastructure as
noticeable from the its earlier aid pattern including the funding of
six "friendship bridges" in Bangladesh. Indian leaders will have to
contend with the Chinese presence and influence while assessing Begum
Zia`s intentions vis-a-vis India. At the same time, they also have to
induce her to adopt a positive view on the overall benefits of
all-round cooperation with India and overcome the mental block which
the opposition political parties in Bangladesh have traditionally had
with respect to comprehensive engagement with India.

A peaceful national election with results accepted by all the
political parties of Bangladesh may augur well for India. As per past
trends, polls have led to governments alternating between the Awami
League and BNP. Therefore, a change of government in Bangladesh may
not be unexpected if the next polls there are held properly with the
confidence of that country`s stakeholders. If the BNP wins by a good
majority, then the prospects of India working out a modus vivendi or a
broad range of understanding over core issues of India`s concern viz.
control of anti-India militants in Bangladesh, trade and transit of
select items from India through Bangladesh between eastern and north
eastern parts of India and water sharing would be better though not
necessarily assured. India will have to use all its tact to achieve
this. However, an acrimonious, violent and less-than-transparent
election process, even if resulting in a shaky BNP victory, will imply
that the extremist and fundamentalist political elements will act as
pressure groups and prevent the next BNP government from moving away
from its traditional ambiguous and unfriendly posture towards India.
Indian leaders may have to convincingly convey to Begum Zia and her
BNP party delegation their commitment towards the economic development
of Bangladesh, continuation of Indian aid in different sectors of that
country`s economy and also on their positive intent to address the
balance of trade issue, irrespective of the party in power there. In
essence, India`s Prime Minister will have to indicate that his
government has strong political will to work with a government led by
Begun Zia.

A second channel of dialogue at the political party level between the
major parties of India and those of Bangladesh including the BNP would
have been a reinforcing factor for improving relations between the two
countries in the event adequate headway cannot be made at the
governmental level. The problem however is that given the situation
currently prevailing, the prospects of a peaceful poll with confidence
of all concerned in Bangladesh is not too bright. Doing away with the
institution of a caretaker government during the polls, which was
earlier provided for under the Constitution of Bangladesh, has made
the political situation quite volatile in that country. Nonetheless,
the present dialogue between the Government of India and the BNP is
welcome in the interest of both countries.

The United States of America Crowned the World's Most Positive Country for 2012

Daily Positive (D+), an exclusive online media for positive news, is pleased to announce the top 10 winners of the World's Most Positive Countries for 2012. In the second year of the award series, the United States of America took the top position from last year's winner Australia.

The World's Most Positive Countries initiative recognizes the positive achievements, initiatives and actions accomplished by each country of the world. Based on the accomplishments, D+ publishes an annual list of 10 most positive countries. The top 10 World's Most Positive Countries 2012 along with respective ranking points are as follows:

Country Name Total Points
United States of America 905
Australia 831
England 778
China 734
Japan 648
Germany 602
Canada 593
France 575
India 541
Sweden 520

The points were calculated based on a global expert panel rating, D+ journalists-volunteers rating, a global social media survey, and the number of positive news entries in 2012 in the D+ website. This multifaceted positive news publications, analysis and global survey feedback of 2012 generated some great reviews for the winners. The USA maintained strong sense of innovation throughout the year, such as the Nobel Prize wins to Mars Rover of NASA. It has shown some positive signs of economic recovery. The presidential election campaigns attracted positive attitude towards the USA, which also demonstrated the great and stable political system of the USA amid fierce contest between the President and his opponent.

Australia, despite the apparent political backlog, continued to maintain a strong economy compared to the other developed countries in 2012. The country was also praised for its contribution in medical science, efficient natural disaster management and for introducing tax on carbon emitters. It is the first country in the world to do this.

England has been in the news for positive reasons, thanks to the 2012 Olympic Games and Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Insights for Scotland's independence also improved the English image in general. China found its position in the top 10, being considered as a major driving force in the world economy, despite its economy showing signs of slowing down.

Japan was hailed for their continuous progress in science, infrastructure and research despite the burden of natural disasters. Apart from these facts Japan was also praised for contribution in socio-economic development and humanitarian work.

Germany and France are leading the current European Union crisis and to some extent considered as positive due to their impact on the world economy. Canada's involvements in global leadership issues were seen as somewhat limited. Nevertheless, its people kept maintaining better lifestyle. Canada was also acknowledged for political stability and humanitarian work.

India's successful fight against polio stood out. Apart from that India has been creating positive image with their consistent economic growth despite alleged widespread corruptions. Sweden's winning of the Eurovision song contest title, as well as success in medical science and information technology helped the country to get into the list. People have shown great satisfaction in their lifestyle in Sweden.

Apart from the top 10 winners, there was also positive news elsewhere. Burma had a year of positive political changes and reforms. Despite Russia's negative media coverage it established itself as frontrunner of the space programs, which also includes collaborative programs with the old rival America. Brazil not only kept showing leadership in the Latin American region, but also led with environmental initiatives to create examples for the rest of the world.

Upon announcing the top 10 winners of the World's Most Positive Countries for 2012, Dr. Arif Jubaer, founder of D+, stated "I feel that D+ is making a positive impact on people by reporting positive news. The initiative of World's Most Positive Countries will encourage individuals and countries to take more positive actions for a positive future."
