[chottala.com] Dubious Tale of Indian Islamist Militant Mufti Sheikh Obaidullah and his recent arrest in Bangladesh

The arrest of the Indian Islamist militant Mufti Sheikh Obaidullah has caused quite a sensation in Bangladesh even with all the obvious flaws in the story surrounding his capture and still unverified claims of engaging in subversive activities across the border in India during the early 1990's in support of Muslims oppressed by Hindu fanatics like the Shiv Sena and RSS. According to his own admission he had maintained links with several Islamist militant organizations including al-Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Taiba, HuJi (B), Asif Reza Commando Force and Harkatul Jihadin Islami Alamin Pakistan but had never actually joined any of these terrorist organizations. He claims merely to be a supporter of their violent agendas but seems to have never engaged in any terrorist activity himself. He looks to have quite a credible and impressive resume of militancy and radicalism with four stints in Afghanistan between 1988 and 1992 but only after the Soviet army had left the country (final troop withdrawal began on May 15, 1988 and was complete by February 15, 1989). It is actually never made clear who he fought in Afghanistan during this period but only that he received training there in certain forms of combat and use of small arms but not in explosives. He claims to have entered Bangladesh illegally in 1995 with the help of one Maulana Fazlur Rahman of Kushban Madrasah in Nadia district of West Bengal. Anyone familiar with the world of counter-terrorism would immediately make a connection between Maulana Fazlur Rahman and the al-Qaeda network of Osama bin laden and this is probably why his name appears in the storyline. According to Indian intelligence sources Maulana Fazlur Rahman signed the first fatwa issued by Osama bin Laden in 1998 against the United States calling for Muslims to attack American interests. These same sources later implied that Maulana Fazlur Rahman was a Bengali which set off a nationwide hunt in Bangladesh soon after the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon. In fact, the person who co-signed the 1998 fatwa has been identified as Maulana Fazlur Rahman Khalil a founding member of the Harkat-ul-Ansar (HUA) and Osama bin Laden's International Islamic Front (IIF) for Jihad Against the Crusaders and the Jewish People. Khalil is probably a Pakistani national as he was a student at the radical Binori Madrassah in Karachi and has shown little interest in Bangladesh thus far. These points are unlikely to be known to many Bangladeshis including counter-terrorism experts who are likely to confuse the name of Maulana Fazlur Rahman with the co-signatory of the 1998 fatwa as was originally intended by Indian intelligence.

What appears even more suspicious about this life sketch is that while Mufti Sheikh Obaidullah claims to be closely associated with Asif Reza Commando Force (ARCF) this organization was only established in 2001 well after Obaidullah had entered Bangladesh in 1995. The ARCF became inactive sometime after 2002 after an attack on the American Centre in Kolkata after which the group is said to have transformed into the Indian Mujahideen but this name appears no where in the present news reports on the arrested Indian militant. The other group mentioned by Obiadullah, Harkatul Jihadin Islami Alamin Pakistan, does not seem to have any existence and no reference is made to it on any intelligence or counter-terrorism websites. Most surprisingly the name Mufti Sheikh Obaidullah does not seem to have rung any bells in India with the press desultorily reporting the story and providing no further insight into his activities before 1995 when he was allegedly involved in subversive activities in that country which had made him a most wanted man. For the reasons already cited the impression being projected about Sheikh Obaidullah seems to lack the same plausibility and evidential basis as that of the three associates of Indian mafia don Duad Ibrahim who were all recently arrested in Bangladesh or of the sponsors of the Green Crescent Madrassa and Orphanage who all had well known and verifiable links to al-Qaeda and other international terrorist organizations. It is amazing that during his 14 year stay in Bangladesh, Obaidullah did not engage in any overt terrorist activities but was at the same time contradictorily making preparations, "for a jihad by organizing Bangladeshi mujahids with directives of Ameer Reza, a leader of Kashmir based Laskar-e-Taiyeba." At no time were his activities detected by the intelligence agencies of India or of Bangladesh nor does it seem for all his efforts was he able to recruit any followers or mujahids to his cause. It was only after the tip off provided by the three gang members of Duad Ibrahim that he was finally apprehended by the police but it does not seem that he had made any efforts to elude arrest or make good his escape from the country while he had the chance (a time span of around one and a half months). It may not be far fetched to assume that this whole story on Mufti Sheikh Obaidullah has been manufactured to provide a credible justification for creating an Anti-Terrorism Task Force in joint collaboration with India. The media and press should look more closely at the contradictions in the official story and try to discover the true purpose and objective behind this quite obvious charade and manipulation of the media. The story surrounding Mufti Sheikh Obaidullah just does not add up.

[chottala.com] Lest we forget the killers of 1971 ......

Lest we forget the killers of 1971.......

Dear All

Lest we forget, Jamaat's  Al-Badar wing and it's killing missions were
"political phenomena" that may repeat under a different lebash,
unless the ordinary masses of Banladesh is constantly on the guard.
Thus, it is an utmost necessity to increase public awareness on
Jamaat's crimes of 1971.
It is an open secret that Jamaat's 1971 crimes were organized
crimes in the name of Islam and saving Izlamic Refublic of Fakistan.
Let everyone know what has happened in 1971; Jamaat's
anti-people role must always be exposed.
Everyone must know that Jamaat's student wing Islami Chattro
Sangha formed the hard core of Al-Bodor bahini.
Al-bodor's hand was tainted with so much of Bangladeshi blood that
when it resurfaced in late 70s, it had a new name Islami Chattro Sibir.

Again, we must  always differentiate between the Gestapo killers
of 1971 like the Jamaat's Al-bodors wing and ordinary supporters
of Pakistan's integrity. The traitors and the killers of 1971 should
never go unpunished.

Jamaat's participation in 1971 Genocide is a result of socio-political
phenomenon that was promoted in the name of our religion .... it must
be totally exposed & uprooted ..... LEST WE FORGET the Jamaatis will
take off their masks at an opportune moment and repeat their treachery and
attrocities against the people of Bangladesh ....The  Jamaatis were traitors
during our Liberation Struggle ...
Lest we forget,  Once a traitor, always a traitor .......

Note:
During our  War of Liberation in 1971, Pakistan Islami Jamiat Talba's East Pakistan Wing (Islami Chatro ShanGho) decided to help the Pakistan Army to supress the
resistance by our people. In order to perform a role in the field Islami Jamiat Talba's Central Assemly (Markazi Shoora) announced the militia  (Jihadi gestapo) wing by the name Al-Badar.

you have done if Yazid bin Muawiyah & his associates were available
within your jurisdiction? Pamper him? Hug him?

The Karbala incident was a great tragedy in the history of the Mussulmans.
There has been hundreds of Karbala in 1971 Bangladesh by Tikka
Khan's army where Jamaate Islami with it's barbaric Al-Bodor forces
were the main local collaborator under the leadership of GoAzam & Nizami
gong.

In a very historical sense, Jamaate Islami is the party of Neo-Yazidists.
Yazid's grandfather Abu Sufyan sought to exterminate the adherents of the
emerging religion Islam by all henious means. After the battle of Badr,
Abu Sufyan's wife Hind cut open the corpse of Hazrat Hamza (RA), taking
out his liver which she then attempted to eat to express her hatered for the
Mussulmans.

When our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) took control of Mecca and
announced a general amnesty for all, Abu Sufyan, embraced Islam. So
did his son Muawiyah, the father of Yazid, the perpetrator of the Karbala
massacre ..Yazeed, son of Muawiyah, claimed to follow  Islam and
pretended to be an Islam-lover .....

Jamaate Islami opposed the emergence of Bangladesh almost in the
same way the notorious Abu Suiyan, his associates, & his family did  during the
emergence of Islam
....  and likewise, Jamaat opposed Bangladesh during the most critical
times of 1971, but when Jamaate re-appeared in late seventees, few years
after our victory, it started pretending to be Bangladesh-lovers and started
masquerading itself with a "holier-than-thou" camouflage ......

But, bear in mind that Jamaate Islami can fool some Bangladeshis for
some times.....but not all Bangladeshis for all times. Our current and future
generations of Bangladeshis will remember the Jamaate Islami as the mass
killers and abettors of Genocides of 1971 ........
...and as the perpetrator Hundreds of Karbala type massacre in 1971 Bangladesh
.....  Killer Jamaatis will be hated as the neo-Yazidists for all times to come.....

Mister Ayubi, the Jamaatis can run but they won't be able hide their past...
no matter how hard you try and no matter under what pretext you try to protect
or shield them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Golam Azam - The Top Traitor-Criminal of 20th century Bangladesh  !

In KARBALA the Skies Wept Blood ... In 1971, for nine months the
Skies Wept Blood in Bangladesh too .......but at the end Bangladesh
had a happy ending ... Bangladesh won it's freedom !!!!

Bangladesh probe targets '71 foes

Cassie Fleming THE WASHINGTON TIMES

Bangladeshi authorities are investigating "genocide" allegations against opponents of its break with Pakistan nearly 40 years ago, the nation's ambassador to Washington said Tuesday.

The Bangladeshi government, which took office in January following elections that ended two years of emergency rule, blames former paramilitary opponents of independence for 3 million murders and 200,000 rapes during the 1971 conflict.

Ambassador M. Humayun Kabir told editors and reporters at The Washington Times that the country has been yearning to resolve the war-crimes issue for decades. But critics claim the investigation is a thinly disguised attempt to silence opponents in a nation notorious for its political instability.

The country's younger generations - many of whom were too young to participate in or even remember the war - spurred the crusade for justice, as they are "more sensitive after experiencing the Rwandan and Bosnian genocides," Mr. Kabir said.

"Other genocides pricked our consciences, and we now want to catch up with our past," he said.

The government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approved a bill in June to set up a tribunal and put former fighters on trial. Mrs. Hasina's alliance controls an overwhelming majority in the parliament.

Local press reports say more than 1,700 people who opposed independence from Pakistan during the nine-month civil war have been identified as possible targets of the probe. Mr. Kabir could not confirm the reports.

He said the probe was not political and that no particular party was being targeted.

But Jamaat-i-Islami, an Islamist party that was part of a coalition that ruled Bangladesh from 2001 to 2006, claims it is the target. The party sought to keep Bangladesh part of Pakistan.

Aktar Hossain, a spokesman for the Muslim Ummah of North America, an organization consisting primarily of Bangladeshi expatriates, called the investigation an attempt to eliminate the opposition.

"The administration is not cooperating with the opposition and is trying to create a one-party parliament," said Mr. Hossain, whose group frequently brings senior officials of Jamaat-i-Islami to Washington for meetings with administration and congressional officials.

"People of Bangladesh are concerned, and we will have millions take to the streets if the investigations continue," Mr. Hossain said.

Crimes committed during the war were addressed in a 1973 reconciliation process, and if the issue is revisited, it should be done in front of the international community, he said.

The government put proposed changes to the 1973 legislation in parliament last week that would reopen the issue, Mr. Kabir said.

Human Rights Watch, an international nongovernmental human-rights- advocacy organization, sent a letter to the prime minister last week, backing the attempt to prosecute war crimes, provided the process was "fair and neutral."

Mr. Kabir said the government investigation and any trials will meet international legal standards.

The U.S. State Department had no immediate comment.

Re: [chottala.com] Re: language- Attention Nader Chowdhury

Mr. Nader Chowdhury.

It is not the question either Bengali or Bihari.

It is the question of humanity & justice for doing trial against both sides War Criminals of 1971 war.

Lawful trials are needed for lawful Administration & Social Justice against the criminals either he is Urdu or Bangla.

1971 war was fought to establishing lawful administration for humanity & human right.

If Urdu Speaking people & Urdu language supporter people have to face trialing for their criminal activity

Then

Why do not face trialing the Bengali people & Bangla language supporter people for the same Criminal activity done by them?

Pakistani people had looted Bangladesh so they were killed they were turned out & their property was looted with the help of India

Is it for doing more loot pat work by the some Bengali & Indian supporters?

After their settlement in Bangladesh East Pakistan became a multi language province.. Bangle language to the people of Bangladesh & Urdu language to Indian migrated people. Both have equal right to speak their in own mother language Bangla & Urdu.

> The question of language would not arise at all provided M.A.Jinnah after his arrival in Dhaka immediately after the creation of Pakistan would not declare urdu and urdu sould be the state language. This created resentment in the mind of whole of Bengal when they saw their majority speaking Bengali languages were underestimated and thus by creating all sorts of hatreds for the urdu language in the minds of Bengali speaking people from that very day in 21st Februaruary, 1952 after the firing over the students of Dhaka University killing many of them. There is no history in the world only for language students were killed in the street as it happened in our Bangladesh. That language movement was the turning point in the history of creation of Bangladesh in 1971. Otherwise Bengali speaking people of the then East Pakistan (Bangladesh) at that time used to become delighted to speak urdu with the non Bengali urdu speaking Biharis who entered in the then East Pakistan. Many of the Bengalis knew urdu and could talk in urdu very well, but sorry to mention very few non Bengali Biharis could speak in Bengali rather used to show their hatreds in speaking in Bengali though they made up their mind to stay as citizens in Bengal for ever. If any Bengali speaking people in Bihar try to show their dissatisfaction in urdu what will be the reaction in the minds of our Bihari brothers? The whole of Bengal- East Bengal of Pakistan and West Bengal of India are the biggest zone of Bengali speaking people. Nobody bother if in this area urdu speaking people speak in urdu and hindi speaking people speak in hindi. The question of language movement arose when in the vast majority of Bengali speaking area urdu were going to be imposed by force as it was tried by M.A. Jinnah in 1952. I quite aggree with you dina khan as you told Bangladesh is a area of cosmopolitical languages of Urdu, Bengali, English and many other languages but nobody can deny as in majority Bengali speaking area the supremacy always should have to be for Bengali languages.
> No question of fighting in concern of Bengali and Urdu as majority Bengali speaking people in Bangladesh don't possesses any sorts of hatreds for urdu after so many ups and down. Fighting always equal vs equal. Not our vast majority of our Bengalis like to fight with a small quantity of non Bengali Biharis until and unless they don't disturb the Bengalis as they used to do during Pakistan time in association with the high headed Pakistanis and in 1971 we lowered down their high headed thinking successfully. Our fighting with Pakistan is over as Pakistanis used to think they are more superior to us and we have shown them in 1971 and make them understand very nicely how much superior they were. Now we want to live in Bangladesh peacefully with all multi language speaking people in a harmony.
