Immediately after the independence of Bangladesh, the Indian army started the plunder of much needed resources (industrial parts, vehicles, armours, gold etc.) from Bangladesh. This is a normal thing after the end of a war.  However, there were standoffs in the Western sector between Bengali freedom fighters with the Indian army; one was with a Bengali popularly known as Major Jalil in the Josore front as Bengali freedom fighters opposed the Indian army carry machinary parts over to India. It is not clear if this was a government policy.( Bahar, Searching for Bhasani, Citizen of the World) 2010 p.205) The present author personally witnessed such looting in the Eastern front where farries returned Demagri of Mizooram of India from Rangamati of Bangladesh loaded with army jeep, cars and furniture with Indian army officials in command and empty farries were again arriving back to Rangamati. It was happening everywhere in such large scale that Maulana Bhasani protested against it.
