Re: [chottala.com] Has hasina Changed? Are you seeing any change?

Analyzing the result of Election on 29/12/08 BAL has got maximum Seats for another reason is that on 29 Election the candidates are not selected by the central body of BAL. The candidates are initially selected by the local party member councils & according to the decision of local party members councils the candidates are selected by The CENTRAL Committee of BAL. It was the policy of Mr. Mujib in Baksal System Election.. I have written this process to the political party in the net for utilizing this process for selection the candidates to establish party democracy by the political party in their party. Lately Hassina understand this process which is the part of BAKSAL. But The Madam does not do this  She established her democracy in her party on 2001election the people of Bangladesh had given her mandate to establish democracy * justice of law & lawful administration but being Elected  she formed 100 members corrupted ministry administration made her son powerful Secretary & she turned out B Chowdhury, Rajjak Ali,  Kornal Oli Lastly Abdul Mannan Bhuyan & so many leaders . She did not understand what the people are wanting & what the meaning of democracy cause she thought she is well educated  As a result the people of Bangladesh have turned her out even from the Post of opposition leadership now she need to contest with Mr. Magibaj  Chairachar Hossain Mohammad  Earshad for getting the post of opposition leadership if Earsad wants to come in Opposition . His is elected with Mohajute. The people of Bangladesh though are poor & most of them are illiterate but they are not so foolish. They understand what were told by Hassina & Khalida. Hassina told as a Daughter of Bangladesh Founder a) She will reduce the price of every thing b) She will provide the people right of voting & rice for fooding c) She will make Bangladesh a Digital Bangladesh d) She will provide update education & will create job opportunities for the young generation. e) She will do trial works against of all corruption. Khalida asked the people like that as A) She asked the people to save the country but she did not tell the people why need for saving the country who will take it? B) She asked the people to save the People. But she did not tell them who the enemies of the people.  How can be saved the people from the hand of the enemies?  She does not promise to  the people again being elected she would not form 100 ministry administration for looting the public property & increasing the salary & other facilities of the elected & non elected politicians &  would  not do chanda bhaji Works. C) She asked the people to save the Islam. But she did not tell the people who the Enemy of Islam & how Islam is in Danger though being  she Muslim Woman does not wear Burka. It is seen that Hassina wearing Islamic Dress looking like a grand mother where as Khalida is wearing UnIslamic Dress looking like a Model milling. So the people thought that Hassina is a Muslim Woman Wearing Islamic dress looks like a Grand Mother  she can save Islam.  The people of Bangladesh thought that Hassina is the daughter of Bangladesh founder, Hassina can save Bangladesh. The people heard that Hassina will provide to them Voting right & rice for fooding. The young generation heard that Hassina will make Bangladesh as Digital Bangladesh, will provide them digital education for making them digital educated & provide them job to build Digital Bangladesh..  So the people have caste vote Hassin's BAL Party & her Mohajute. On analyzing it can be said (may be analyzing not correct) It may also seem to The people of Bangladesh on hearing the speech of Khalida & the people might think that Khalida may have secret promised with Hassina in the Jail House that she will do election campaign in favor of Hassina so that after election being the Prime Minister Hassina will not do any trial works against Khalida's corruption works. Hassina also might promise her not to doing trial works against Khalida & her party members' corruption works & Hassina also supplied own hand cooking food to Khalida in the Jail House.

Now it can be understood the poor & illiterate people of Bangladesh what want? On 29/12/08 election the people of Bangladesh have caste their votes to Mr. late Mujib to execute his BAKSAL system Parliament. According  to the system of Mr. Mujbur Rahman founder of Bangladesh & Introducer of  Baksal System  political Democracy,  Baksal System Election &  Baksal System Administration controlling of all political party & all media people for executing his idea & plan to do well  fare works  for the people of Bangladesh.

Now his daughter on 29/12/08 election has got the total public majority mandate for the party BAL alone to execute The BAL party's Promise not to build 100 members ministry administration & for free looting the public property not to depending on either Bishsow Behaia Chairachar or not to depending on other one man self declared so called King man party or  King Party (like 14 party leaders). BAL should remember.

People of Bangladesh had given the majority mandate to the Jokthofront (Noaka of AL) in 1954 election in 1970 Election & in 1973 election for to AL

Again in 2008.election BAL has got people's total majority mandate power.

The leader of BAL &  daughter of founder Bangladesh should need to remember why her father was compelled to say in the Polton meeting to drive the Red Horse on them who were they? Its now her duty to know & beware of them. She should remember Mr. Mujib was the uncounted popular leader in Bangladesh. To listen his speech people would come to meeting with their own cost or walking on their foot from the long distance. Now Bangladesh is enlisted world top class corrupted champion world top class poorest. A lot of people from Bangladesh for their stomach are working as laborers in abroad.

She needs to remember that the people of Bangladesh though are very poor but not ungrateful though the political leaders think them thought them they are buka or they are foolish. It is Not so true & are not correct.

If it analyzes the result of different elections it can be understood that the common people of Bangladesh though poor though illiterate but ultimately they can know & can justify what they need to do.

Re: [chottala.com] Kill the white Elephants at our High Commission Offices in the World

Dear Mr.Shamim,
While reading your GOOD ideas about cost reduction wings in various Bangladesh Missions overseas don't you think that the dumb idea of a defense attache in all the foreign missions are not required.(I salute your service to our country )but do not think that Bangladesh needs a branch called Army, because whom these guys are going to fight with? India? The Army is in Bangladesh as a major source of employment for some young people who once every few year kicks out the corrupt but democratically elected governament and grabs the power to build their future. While the previous group is enjoying their loots and the future group is in their planing state. It also spoils the purpose of grooming a smart(education related) student who joins the army visioning the super chair in the future instead joining other fields as a career where they realy have to work hard.

Dear All
From my practical experiences be informed that, at present the number of the employees in the the various Bangladesh embassies in the world is beyond any count. PM has taken a small number of  cabinet members in her team.Definitely, it is a very encouraging step for the country. Other  sectors should learn from her " expenditure- reduction" strategy. If I show  a high commission office without naming, it has total 50+ staff in a developed country, where price of everything  is 100 times  higher  than that of Bangladesh. Bangladesh govt pays their monthly salaries, house rents, telephone bills (including house one), car, fuel, 2/3 times travel expenses in a year to come to Bangladesh with family ( all expenses at the rate of the country where the embassy is operating). It is also astonishing to note that, many of  them are also allowed to bring a servant and driver with them. The govt also pays their drivers and servants' monthly salaries as well. It is more surprising that all employees enjoy two benefits, their normal salaries in Bangladesh also go to their accounts in Bangladesh. All poor people's money. I feel beneath dignity to remind you all about  the level of  exploitation of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A cost-benefit analysis will make the thing more clear. How much business or mutual diplomatic relationship they are maintaining! Billion of dollars are  going out of our country to only maintain the embassy offices in foreign countries.  I tell you a little care on this point, shall help to construct Padma Bridge very quickly. My suggestion is, pl keep only 2 staff (including defense personnel)in any  embassy office till Padma Bridge is constructed. Yes, our foreign ministry shall try to justify their position, how two persons can do the big  jobs? Those who are capable to maintain  an office with two persons, they should be posted. It may include any ministry/services.
Think and suggest AL govt. I strongly believe they shall do good as they have wholehearted
dedication for the country.
Cheers
Maj Shamim (Retd)

[chottala.com] BNP boycotts Iajuddin's speech

BNP boycotts Iajuddin's speech
Sun, Jan 25th, 2009 6:56 pm BdST

Senior Correspondents

Dhaka, Jan 25 (bdnews24.com) – The maiden sitting of the ninth parliament Sunday saw BNP stage a walkout ahead of President Iajuddin Ahmed's speech, accusing him of breaching his oath in office.

"The President broke his oath by not arranging elections within 90 days," Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury MP told bdnews24.com after the walkout.

"We cannot hear this President speak. For two years, this President kept this country under undemocratic rule," he said.

But the rest of the House heard the president as he read out a written speech, drafted by the government.

The speech praised prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her government and its 'Charter for Change'.

"This parliament formed through a free, fair and neutral election is the parliament for change," Iajuddin Ahmed told the House, in his last address to parliament.

"The people's expectation from this government is almost boundless," he said.

The president outlined what he hoped would be the main objectives of the government, among them poverty alleviation, elimination of corruption and terrorism, trial of war criminals and establishment of good governance.

The presidential speech over, the Speaker Abdul Hamid adjourned the House at around 6.30 pm to meet again at 4:45pm on Wednesday.

When the House resumed just after the Magrib break, BNP's Chowdhury rose trying to draw the chair's attention but was not immediately allowed to speak.

At this stage, leader of the opposition Khaleda Zia also rose from her seat and led fellow MPs out of the House. Two Jamaat MPs and the lone BJP MP also followed her.

The speaker was then heard saying: "Why are you leaving? Your president is going to address (the parliament). And you are leaving the House."

This was the third time the main opposition staged a walkout at the inaugural sitting of a new parliament. Awami League walked out of the maiden sitting of the fifth parliament on April 5, 1991. BNP staged a walkout at the first sitting of the seventh on July 14, 1996.

JS returns to business
Architect Louis Kahn's magnificent marvel, the seat of Bangladesh's democracy, returned to business on Sunday after nearly two and a half years.

Parliament last sat on Oct. 4, 2006.

The new parliament began its session around 3.15pm with the arrival of outgoing speaker Jamiruddin Sircar.

Four minutes later, as the recital from the Quran was on, leader of the opposition Khaleda Zia led her party MPs to the House, wearing black badges.

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina and most treasury bench members had arrived much earlier.

Sircar conducted the election of the new speaker and deputy speaker Shawkat Ali—both endorsed unanimously by the House— and gave a valedictory statement before leaving his chair.

The president administered the oaths of the two during a break after the election, and Abdul Hamid returned to the House to assume a role not unknown to a speaker who was first elected in 1970.

Among other rituals, Hamid read out a long list of prominent people who had died since the last parliament session and allowed the law minister to table all 122 ordinances passed in absence of parliament.

PPs meet

The two major parliamentary groups had earlier discussed their strategy in the afternoon before walking into the House.

Prime minister and leader of the House Sheikh Hasina chaired a meeting of the 228-strong AL Parliamentary Party (ALPP) at 2pm at the treasury bench conference room on the ninth floor of the parliament building.

Leader of the opposition Khaleda Zia met 27 fellow MPs at the opposition conference room on the same floor.

New Speaker invites 'strong criticism'

Speaker Abdul Hamid invited opposition MPs on Sunday to hold the ruling party accountable through 'strong criticism'.

Veteran no-nonsense parliamentarian Hamid became the new Speaker and retired colonel Shawkat Ali Deputy Speaker in the first sitting of the new parliament.

In his maiden speech, the second-time speaker stressed active participation by all members of the House.

"I hope the opposition will strongly criticise the ruling party's flaws," said Hamid.

He also asked members of parliament to work towards the country's economic development, "free of all political interests".

"Let our aim be to free this country of poverty."

The ninth Parliament unanimously elected Hamid for the top office on a formal proposal from chief whip Abdus Shahid, seconded by whip Shagufta Yasmin Emily.

Ali's election was also unanimous, on a proposal from whip A SM Feroj. Another whip Mujibul Huq supported him.

Opposition BNP lawmakers were silent as the two were voted in.

122 ordinances tabled

One of the first tasks of the new speaker was to invite the law minister to present a raft of ordinances passed by the immediate past interim government during its two-year tenure.

Law minister Shafiq Ahmed tabled a total of 122 ordinances. A panel tasked to examine the scores of ordinances passed has initially recommended that 45 of them be enacted, the law minister said earlier in the week.

"All the ordinances will be placed on the first day of the first session of the parliament on Jan 25. Of them, the scrutiny committee will recommend 45 ordinances to tabled as bills," Shafiq Ahmed had said.

Sircar bids farewell, advises 'tolerance'

The outgoing Speaker Jamiruddin Sircar adjourned the House at 3.44pm to allow oath-taking of the two new presiding officers by the President.

Sircar in his farewell speech said solutions to all problems are inherent in democracy.

"What is needed is a proper political culture and tolerance," he said.

BNP deputy speaker

Since the Awami League did not offer the post of deputy speaker to the opposition at the first sitting, the government, if it wants to keep its pre-polls pledge, will have to amend the article 74 of the constitution to create a second post .

The BNP had hinted that it would accept the post of deputy speaker only if it was offered on the first day.

Opposition BNP MPs entered the House wearing black badges on Sunday.

There was some question in preceding days as to whether BNP lawmakers would join the inaugural sitting of parliament since the day coincides with the introduction of one-party rule in 1975, they said.

"This day has been etched into the memory of the people as a 'black day'," BNP secretary general Khandaker Delwar Hossain had said. "It is not clear why that day has been set for the first sitting of parliament."

BNP skips president's speech

The main opposition BNP today walked out of the Jatiya Sangsad ahead of President Iajuddin Ahmed's speech in protest against his failure to hold the ninth parliamentary elections within 90 days.

Joynal Abedin Faruk opposition chief whip

Joynal Abedin Faruk, Member of the Parliament of Noakhali-2 constituency, was made the opposition chief whip in the parliament.

[chottala.com] Re: [khabor.com] Transit issue revisited

are we missing something? india is asking for a "transit" which is a "corridor" actually. "transit" is mentioned to deceive the people of bangladesh. one day india may agree to allow bangladesh "transit" to nepal and/or bhutan in exchange of "corridor" to north east indian states. this imbalance exchange will not benefit bangladesh as much as it will benefit india. eventually, INDIA WILL HAVE ITS GATES ON BOTH SIDES OF BANGLADESH, this is an extreme threat to bangladesh's sovereignty. i would like to know if there is any such "corridor" allowed to any country.

The Bangladesh Today - 25th January 2009

Every government of Bangladesh - elected or not - feels its incumbent
upon itself to bring up the issue of transit to India but in the end
nothing really gets done except talks which inflame the passions of
the people of this country, moving them to resist any moves by any
government to offer infrastructural facilities to India such as
transit and the use of ports. This has been going on for the last 2
decades but in the last couple of years it has assumed urgent
proportions for India because of their need to get to their states
bordering Bangladesh to the north and east, it being much more time
consuming and costly to travel all the way round than through
Bangladesh. Consider, for example, the fact that right after the
Emergency was declared on 11 January 2007, the Indian Government
invited the Chief of Army Staff to India and gave him a "royal
treatment" in order to elicit some form of commitment regarding the
transit issue - it is of note that the Indians did not invite the
President or the Chief Advisor but the man holding the gun and the
power who got all the attention. Similarly, even before the 29
December election, the Indian Ambassador in Bangladesh was busy
shuttling between the BNP and AL, hedging his bets. When the AL won
the election, the Ambassador came on strongly setting up a visit by
the Indian Foreign Minister whose main agenda undoubtedly would be the
transit, the port and the off-shore exploration of gas in the Bay of
Bengal.

Much has been talked about the issue of transit and there is nothing
new to add as far as the perceptions and view points of the people of
Bangladesh are concerned. On 14 July 2008, The Bangladesh Today
carried a commentary on the issue; it would be worthwhile to reproduce
the major aspects of it here.

The Indian High Commissioner in Bangladesh, HE Pinak Ranjan
Chakravarty, spoke to the press on 10 July 2008, after his meeting
with our Foreign Advisor. Mr. Chakravarty had this to say: "We are
raising the issue at every forum but it is yet to come into effect.
Bangladesh considers the issue as political but it is not that; we
don't see it as political. Both the countries should consider the
issue of transit facility for the development of the overall economy
and trade". Well, from this statement its pretty clear what India
wants and why but perhaps India and its High Commissioner (HC) are yet
to understand what Bangladesh wants and why. So let's get down to the
crux of the business.

Starting with the economic aspects on which the Indian HC seems to be
so insistent, we would like to mention that both Bangladesh and India
have access to each other through various land, river and sea routes
and therefore trade and commerce between the two countries can go on
and increase to any extent that the two countries want. As a matter of
fact India has a huge trade surplus over Bangladesh, which means that
India is exporting far more than importing from Bangladesh. Therefore
it is difficult to see how a "transit" through Bangladesh is going to
further improve the economic aspects, when trade is already heavily
weighted in favor of India.

India has to bear tremendous costs to get to its south-eastern states
all the way round; a transit through Bangladesh would make that access
easier both economically as also militarily because these
south-eastern states are all plagued by insurgencies of one type or
another. No, Mr. Chakravarty it is not Bangladesh which is going to
benefit from the transit - except for the paltry sums to be realized
for the passage through - it is India which is going to benefit,
leaving Bangladesh with a permanent security hazard much like the 25
years Indo-Bangla treaty signed just after the independence of Bangladesh.

While we are on economic issues, what about equitable distribution of
river waters which India is denying us, turning huge tracts of our
agricultural lands into deserts during the dry seasons; what about
damming of rivers upstream and releasing those waters during monsoons
turning the whole of Bangladesh into an ocean; what about trying to
grab some of our Exclusive Economic Zones in the Bay of Bengal; what
about denying our people access to many of our "enclaves" in India and
finally what about flooding our Country with Indian phensidyl, drugs
and intoxicants of all sorts.

Coming to the far more important political and security aspects which
the Indian HC is so keen to downplay, we would like to mention that a
"treaty of transit" is certainly going to include clauses for
guaranteed continued access to the transit routes by India. Should
those guarantees fail at anytime, India would not hesitate to march in
with its military forces to ensure that transit, citing reasons of
"national interest" much like they did in Sikkim, Maldives and Sri
Lanka. So, Mr. Chakravarty, every Bangladesh Government understands
these things and that's why India never got the transit and it never will.

If India wants transit through Bangladesh, we want transit through
India to Nepal and China - this makes more economic sense to us. So by
all means let's have transits, both through Bangladesh and India with
equal guarantees and conditions of access through these routes. Better
still, let's have the historical "Bengal, Bihar, Orissa and Assam" in
one powerful Nation-State of Bangladesh so that India doesn't have to
bother about transit to those areas.
