It is history to the neutral people of Bangladesh that millions people of Bangladesh including me heard Zia's voice from Khalur Ghat Bether Chittagong
(A) First on 26 March in 1971 Zia's declaration was himself as president of Bangladesh and Chief Commander of Bangladesh Army.
(B) Second on 27 -29 March in 1971 his declarations were on behalf of Bangabhundu Sheik Mujibur Rahman
(C) Later Zia really became the President and Army Chief of Bangladesh.
It is also History in Bangladesh
I) 26 March is Independence Day of Bangladesh.
Zia's declaration on 26 March made him hero of Bangladesh liberation history.
II) Zia's party BNP (though corrupt and opportunities) also has proved AL was politically failure and inefficient political party to liberate Bangladesh political negotiation with Ehia Khan whereas Bangladesh is liberated by war on Declaration of Major Ziaur Rahman

We should give credit to Gen Zia for declaring our Independence no matter under who's order he did it.
Reality is that he was the one entrusted to declare our independence. History gave him this opportunity
Critics of Zia like it or not, he was not an ordinary Radio announcer as few Awami believers think.
His declaration definitely encourged our freedom fighters as well as freedom loving Bangladeshis, can you deny this fact ?
Final question ,were you born at that time ?

Again we are heading towards a controversy. We never deny the fact that
Zia had declared the Independence but he himself can not pronounce such
a historical announcement. He did not have such an ability, position
at that time.
He was not a political leader or a popular person familiar to the
people of Bangladesh.
In place of Ziaur Rahman if anybody else at that time would do the
same announcement our comment would have been the same. At that
particular period
Only the fittest person in all respect & acceptable to the people of
Bangladesh was Sk. Mujibur Rahmn , one & only the national leader of
that time .Again I would say, no one can declare the independence of a
nation.We must consider the time & moment. One can only read out a
script on behalf of a National leader if one is asked to do so.
So, I do not see any reason for an unnecessary controvery and all these.....
