[chottala.com] Two top Pakistani Army Personals should be remembered for their loves to Bangladesh.

1.The Air Marshal is to be honored by BD Govt for his role during the Liberation War 1971. He has also visited BD HiCom, Islamabad and formally applied for BD nationality.

2. FYI, late Gen Azam Khan had willed all his property to the people of BD before he died. The will was handed over to BD HiCom when the latter went to visit the Gen at LHR upon request. The Hi Com had come to know from Begum Azam Khan that beside what he was bequeathing in the will to BD he had nothing. So in a conspiracy of sort the Hi Com had refused to accept this without the Gen knowing this in this life.

3. We will perhaps never see such men again.

Love

Mujib

Found this 50-year old news report in 'DAWN - 50 Years Ago Today' segment of January 3, 2011 edition of English daily 'DAWN'. It's about Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Martin B-57 Canberra jet bomber flight from Peshawar to Dacca piloted by then PAF Commander-in-Chief (C-in-C) Air Marshal Asghar Khan on January 2, 1961.

January 3, 1961 -
The Commander-in-Chief of the Pakistan Air Force, Air Marshal Asghar Khan, yesterday (January 2, 1961) created a flying record when he flew a B-57 jet bomber from Peshawar to Dacca in only two hours and 32 minutes. The distance between Lahore and Dacca was covered in one hour and 58 minutes.

The C-in-C's plane was followed by another jet bomber, which was piloted by Flight-Lt Najibullah. The past flying record between Dacca and Lahore was four-and-a-half hours.

The Air Chief told newsmen at the airport that after an overnight stop at Dacca he would take off for Bangkok, the next hop for his flight to Japan. The flight is a part of a navigational exercise, he added.
