| A Doa Mahfil will be held for the salvation of the departed soul of Dr Jewel at his family residence at House 5, Road 21, Gulshan 1, Dhaka 1212 after Maghrib prayer on the 26 Sep 2011. Kindly share the information with friends and families who came across Dr. Jewel during his lifespan.
We hereby inform with a heavy heart that Dr SAM Anwarul Haque Jewel, a contributor and an ardent well-wisher and supporter of Toitomboor, passed away on 20th September 2011, at around 12:40 pm (BD Time) at at New York, USA, while his parents were visiting him after 16 long years.. Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilaihe Rajeun. He had been suffering from Paraganglioma with the extensive metastasis to Bones, Lungs and Liver. He studied at BAF Shaheen School batch '79, Notre dame College '81 and then Rangpur medical college '87. Dr Haque went to Johns Hopkins Hospital, USA in 1995 for the treatment of his carotid body tumor. Since then he was under treatment at different hospitals in New York and Maryland including Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and allied diseases. Earlier he had gone through several operations, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy at Dhaka in 1983/84….. while a second year medical student, and at Royal Marsden Hospital, London in 1992. He left us for his eternal journey after fighting for long 26/27 years. He was a great fighter, a brave person who could embrace all his pain by himself alone. MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE. Please pray for his departed soul. He left behind his parents, 2 brothers and 5 sisters, and a host of friends and relatives. The Namaz-e Janaza will be held Baad AASAR at Gulshan Azad mosque, Dhaka. Dr. Jewel will be buried at Banani graveyard. This may be mentioned here that his siblings Dr SAM Aminul Hoque Tito aka Titon Jajabor, Dr Shamim Akhter Mimi, Ms Nesfun Nahar Nipa aka Anamika Akter Nipa, SAM Ariful Hoque Jimmy and their children have been contributing off and on in different sections of Toitomboor from its inception.
