[chottala.com] Let's observe Mother's Day by watching, listening and rememberng our mother [3 Attachments]

Dear friends,
On a personal note though, I would like to share with you all these on the occasion of Mother's Day. The song was composed (in Bangla) in early 80s by me. I transliterated the lyrics into English on the occasion of Woman's Day 2011 while I was attending a course on peace-building and conflict transformation at Bangkok, organized by Asian Resource Foundation (ARF), Payap University, Thammasat University and Asian Muslim Action Network (AMAN). I dedicated the song to my mother who had left us on 12 Jan 2008 and to all the mothers of the world whose sons had lost their lives in wars.

The wailing mother is seated beside the son
whom she will not see ever again in this world.

The son is destined towards the unknown
The mother is in tears for the son
No one knows if she would re-unite with him
on the day of judgment in the after-world.

In the white chariot the son has to go
The wailing mother running to and fro
To the faraway unknown, the son does go
Never to come back to this world.
