Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Mahbubul Haque Shakil has been sent back home from New York after making him stand release.

Law enforcers arrested drunken Shakil when he tried to forcibly enter a room of a foreign ministry official in Grand Hayat Hotel in New York city on Thursday midnight (USA time), reports News World, a New York-based news agency.

Shakil was included in the entourage of the Prime Minister who is now attending the 65th General Assembly of the United Nations in New York.

The news agency could not reach Prime Minister's Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad for his comment on the matter.

However, Prime Minister's entourage and also Principal Secretary Md Abdul Karim admitted that Shakil was sent back but he did not explain the incident.

It is learnt that drunken Shakil tried to intrude into a room of Grand Hayat Hotel in New York City reserved for Director (Foreign Ministry) Shahnaj Gazi Thursday midnight. However, everybody kept mum on the matter.

Being informed, the security department directed Shakil to leave the USA immediately. Otherwise, there is a tough law in the USA for sexual harassment.

An official of the hotel termed the incident very disgraceful and said, "The allegation is now under investigation. Investigative Officers may talk to the Bangladesh Mission in this regard."

Sources said, hearing the incident the Prime Minister instantly ordered the authorities concerned to send back him (Shakil) to Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, no official version of the Bangladesh Mission in the USA was available in this regard.

When asked about the incident, Foreign Secretary Mijarul Quayes expressed his ignorance on this issue.

Talking to The News World, Permanent Representative of Bangladesh Mission in New York Ambassador AK Abdul Momen said, "I heard nothing about this."
