Dear All:

During my visit to Chittagong in December 2009 I have had the good opportunity to visit the office of Kishorkal, a fledgling Chittagong magazine for the youth.  I have attached herewith the cover pages of two issues of Kishorkal for your perusal.  What really inspired me at the Kishorkal office at Rahmatganj, Chittagong, was the commitment of a young group of entrepreneurs.  Despite their economic hardship to maintain the magazine's continued publication, the group has dedicated itself to serve the literary needs of the youth in Chittagong.  I was truly touched by their mission and willingness to undertake the economic challenges of publishing a magazine for the youth which is a rarity in the mostly adult-oriented publication industry in Chittagong.

They have honestly told me about the various challenges they face in their mission.  The crying need is the money for desktop and laptop computers needed for their design and production staff.  I have assured them that I'd approach the Chittagonian expatriates in the U.S. and solicit donation on their behalf.  They have assured me that each donor will be acknowledged in their publication as a patron of the magazine.  Kishorkal is currently working on their Web site and donors will also be enlisted there, in addition to receiving email acknowledgments for their contribution.

I respectfully urge you to contribute toward this inspiring cause.  I have told them that I'll raise no less than $4000.00 for the production technology of their office.  Contributions of $50, $100 or above from patrons could easily meet this goal.

You can send me your check without any reservations and I'll submit all donations to Kishorkal when I visit Bangladesh in May 2010.  I can assure you that your contribution is going to have a major influence on the literary culture of Chittagong.

Thank you for your kind consideration.  Please let me know should you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Dr. Adnan Morshed
