Dhaka, Feb 3 (bdnews24.com) - Two US generals will visit Bangladesh to strengthen bilateral and regional security cooperation, the US embassy in Dhaka announced Monday.

Lt Gen David Fridovich, US Special Operations Command (SOCOM), and Brig Gen Michael R.Boera, US Pacific Command (PACOM), will discuss issues including US-Bangladesh efforts against terrorism.

"Together, US SOCOM and US PACOM provide security-force assistance to partner nations to help combat terrorism," the embassy said in a press statement.

The two visiting generals will also meet with the home minister, Army and Navy Chiefs of Staff and senior government officials on issues related to US-funded humanitarian assistance programmes, according to the statement.

"Their discussions will focus on partnership, presence and readiness in the region, security- force assistance, and bilateral approaches to maintaining regional security stability," it added.

"This visit underscores the importance of the cooperation on security, humanitarian assistance and terrorism between the two countries," said the embassy.
