All of the nonsensical activity of the government to detain people and then letting everyone go fair and square is beginning to look like a circus to me. It is also making the government look bad, while 'the era of wild, wild west' seem to walk in with bloated ego, more daring and absolutely no consideration to the law. In order to revive democracy the government had to cut a sorry deal that ultimately will not be good for the country and pretty soon havoc will result coming election time. This is the story of life in Bangladesh. The idea of notun Bangladesh perhaps may be aptly changed to the story 'notun bangladesh in old style.'

 

This is tragic and horrendous; I think democracy has gotten a nasty kick in its back, but we have not figured that out because our senses are either not acute or drowned in emotion. The country has become captive to the political parties again. My question is, 'Is this we all slaved hard for and gritted our teeth amidst monumental chaos and economic dislocation hoping to see a new country evolve that is more transparent and honest?'

 

Our dreams have been punctured; our wishes to see a new Bangladesh have vanished into ether and our fellow martyrs are perhaps thinking of their sacrifice of life going to wanton and complete waste.

 

I depart with a heavy soul.
