[chottala.com] Bangladeshi Climate Refugees

Bangladeshi Climate Refugees
Abid Bahar
It is estimated that approximately 20 million people in Bangladesh will become climate refugees. Time is running out and it is time to take action before the disaster unfolds.
Will India as one of the emerging global polluters, helping global warming, take its own share of responsibility to accept Bangladeshi climate refugees and settle them in its almost empty North East? After all Asam and the rest of North East was all along a part of Bengal, never of India; tricked by Nehru with Mountbatten's wife's help to make it part of India. In finding places for settling Bangladeshi climate refugees, can the international community make India as one of the prospective places? If it is a peace-loving country, it will definitely accept the proposal. Surely, the BJP with its anti-Bangladeshi chavinism will stand against it!
Let's hope for the best!

South American countries like Argentina, Brazil and Venezula has vast space might be interested to begin settlling some Bangladeshis on an experiment basis.. Bangladesh embassy worldwide should look for potential places and approach super powers to settle Bangladeshis from Bangladesh's low-lying areas that are showing the signs already.
